NavEye BlackBox GSM/GPS alarm manual NavEye BlackBox protects your belongings and vehicles in various ways. Equipped with external sensors the alarm can detect when a door or a hatch is opened and if the engine starts. The geofence function keeps track of the vehicles GPS position and alerts when it moves. Internal sensors controls not only the geofence but also the internal and external voltage, speed and course while moving, alarm status and more. The information can be retrieved by texting or by calling your NavEye BlackBox. It can be controlled and configured both from a cell phone or from the internet on www.naveye.com/blackbox. SIM-card Your NavEye BlackBox is delivered with a SIM-card preloaded with 50 SEK that will cover the first period in use. The balance should be controlled and refilled to make sure that the unit always is able to send alarm. Number presentation must be activated on your cell phone to enable the unit to identify and grant access and it should also be able to send and receive text SMS. Please make sure of this before installing your NavEye BlackBox. After the installation you will need a computer with internet connection to register and configure the unit. Fitting NavEye BlackBox is recommended to be fitted in a hidden place where it s not easily detected but it s an advantage if it is possible to see the LEDs during the installation and start up. External GSM antenna might be needed when the unit is installed in a way that prevents it from obtaining a good GPS signal. The signal is blocked by metal or concrete and weakened by thick wood, plastic or glass. The optimal placement for the unit is according to the picture. Connect the NavEye BlackBox to a 8-32 volt DC power source and before the main switch. 1. Gray cable connects to minus on the battery 2. Red cable to plus. The unit is protected with an internal fuse and if it should be released, the unit has to cool down for 10 minutes before it resets itself. The installation so far covers functions like geofence, tracking, vibration warning, emergency button, supply voltage warning. To add more security functionality like burglar alarm, fire alarm you ll need to connect external sensors and upgrades to BlackBox Plus. Install external NavEye BlackBox Plus sensors There are two different types of sensors, disconnecting (Normal High) and connecting (Normal Low). For example a burglar alarm with a magnetic switch (the power) is on in armed state, and when a door opens the contact breaks and the power drops, which in turn triggers the alarm to go off, the burglar alarm is there for normal high. The consequences of this is that if you don t connect a sensor the input cable must be connected to either plus or minus to avoid false alarms and warnings. Input (Normal state): 1. Pink - Gas & Fire Fire and Gas detectors (Low) (Normaly open) Connects to plus. 2. Yellow Burglary IR-detectors and magnetic switches (High) (Normaly closed) Connects to plus. 3. Green Water level guard (Low) (Normaly open) Connects to plus. 4. Brown Grounding sensor - (High) (Normaly closed) Connects to plus. 2
Output: (Do not connect cables if not in use) 1. Blue Immobilizer Activated in armed state 2. White Relay control Controlling electronic equipment like heaters, lights Output 1, is preset to attach an immobilizer equipment. It s activated in armed state and can be controlled both with the remote control and a cell phone. Output 2, is configured for attaching relay controlled equipment. To activate send out2,1 from your cell phone and to inactivate send out2,0 and the unit will respond with a answer. Start up When your NavEye BlackBox is installed and connected to an external power source the internal battery will start charging and after a few minutes the unit will start and indicate it with a beep and the LEDs will be turned on. To allow the unit to start up and to get fully charged please do not remove the external power the first hour. When the unit is awake and in a disarmed state the LEDs will indicate the status for GPS and GSM signals. LED A gives a steady green light when it s trying to get a good fixed position and also if it already has got a position. Only when it has a very good and stable position the LED will give a blinking light. LED B will indicate the GSM signal with a slow blinking yellow light (that reminds of older cell phones that had blinking lights). Both LEDs are turned off in armed state and after a few minutes in idle. This behavior will prevent the NavEye BlackBox to reveal its location. It can take some time before the unit gets its first GPS fixed position. This is depending on the placement of the unit and the surroundings. If no position is found the answering text SMS s from the unit will contain only zeros in the attached positioning link. To obtain the optimal conditions for the unit please control its position and that it s not blocked by metal or any other material that could affect its function. Tall buildings and rocks will affect the signal and in difficult areas the unit might have to be complemented with an external antenna. NB!! Make sure that your NavEye BlackBox always has the best possible GPS and GSM signal to guarantee the best protection of your property! When the unit has started and got signal you should check the status by calling it from your cell phone. You can find the number enclosed in the packaging. With magnetic switches and IR sensors it will alarm if a burglary is performed. The NavEye BlackBox burglary protection generates a silent alarm and our recommendation is to add harbor guarding or equivalent service to the list of alarm receivers in the unit. (Silent alarm is a recommendation from the insurance companies.)
