Cloud Platform Competency The Cloud Platform competency enables you to capitalize on the growing demand for infrastructure and software as a service (SaaS) solutions built on Microsoft Azure, providing you with additional support and incentives as you grow your business. To qualify for the Cloud Platform competency, your organization must demonstrate Proven Azure Performance and meet the Azure consumption requirement. To earn the Cloud Platform competency, your organization must meet the following requirements: Meet the Azure consumption requirement. Pass the technical assessments. Provide customer references. Pay the required competency fee. This guide will focus on the Azure consumption requirement. For complete benefit and requirement details, visit the Cloud Platform competency page. What is Proven Azure Performance? For the Azure consumption requirement, the program is measuring consumption of Azure Products and Services - not your organization s Azure sales. Recognized sales channels and license types: Only Azure Products and Services from Enterprise Agreements (EA), Open License Agreements, and Pay-As-You-Go subscriptions will qualify for the performance requirement. At this time, the program is not able to measure Azure consumption from all Microsoft programs In the future, Cloud Service Provider (CSP) subscriptions and licenses sold via MPSA agreements will also count towards the competency. Recognized customer and partner subscriptions: Customers may include those in the Public Sector. Additionally, if you provide managed services or SaaS solutions to your customers, your organization s Azure subscription may be used to meet the Azure consumption requirement for the competency. Azure Performance Qualification Overview To meet the Azure consumption requirement, your organization will need to be assigned as the Partner Of Record (POR) for each Azure subscription your organization is responsible for delivering and/or managing an Azure-based solution For a quick tutorial, review this short video on how to attach a Digital Partner Of Record Forward this video to your customers to help guide them through the POR attach process, as applicable. Key points to understand in attaching Partner Of Record (POR): 1. There is only one user role in any Azure account or tenant that has the authority to attach a POR that is the Administrator also known as Owner role. Service Admin, Co-admin, and Delegated Admin roles DO NOT HAVE AUTHORITY to attach a Partner of Record 2
2. MPN ID: the customer or Partner must have a valid MPN ID to assign Partner Of Record. If your Partner profile has multiple locations within a country, use the primary HQ Location MPN ID. If you do not use a Headquarter (HQ) MPN ID, your POR assignment may be rejected. 3. Cloud Services Dashboard: when a Partner is assigned as POR, the related customer and consumption information is available to the Partner in the Cloud Services Dashboard. See the next section for details. http://aka.ms/partnerclouddashboard 4. All Azure subscriptions can have a Partner Of Record assigned, except Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) subscriptions. Microsoft automatically captures the Partner information for all CSP subscriptions, so there is no need to take any action to receive credit for these subscriptions. Reminder: currently CSP subscriptions are not recognized for Competency qualification. We are working diligently to fix this gap. Azure Performance Cloud Services Dashboard When a partner is added as POR, the related information shows up in the Cloud Services Dashboard (http://aka.ms/partnerclouddashboard). This dashboard contains Partner-specific information on all Microsoft Cloud Services where the Partner has been attached as POR including O365, CRM Online, Enterprise Mobility, and Power BI. This data should reflect Partner performance on Microsoft Cloud Services. When reviewing this data, please note: 1. The consumption data is refreshed monthly (currently). It is refreshed approximately 1 week after the end of the month. 2. New POR Attach: When a POR is attached to a subscriptions for the first time, it will take ~5-7 business days for that subscription to show up in the Cloud Services Dashboard. Initially, it will show TBD in the consumption fields until the monthly update 3. The data in the Cloud Services Dashboard is exactly the data used to qualify for the Competency. If you have any questions about the data in the Cloud Services dashboard, or believe the information is incorrect, please contact your local Regional Service Center. See the screen print below on how to navigate to support options. 3
