23 MAY BILBAO-SEVILLE TRANSFER TO CORDOBA The meeting point will be the airport of Loiu (Bilbao) 90 minutes prior to departure. Check in and boarding on a scheduled flight to Seville. Arrival and bus transfer to Cordoba. Accommodation 24 MAY CORDOBA TRANSFER TO GRANADA Breakfast. In the morning, there will be a visit to Cordoba, the old capital of an Islamic caliphate. The tour will include a look inside the mosque, which is a real forest of columns and arches and home to the Cathedral of Cordoba, as well as an external tour of the Alcázar and a walk to the Jewish district with its well-known squares and alleys. Here we will visit the statue of Maimonides, who was a great doctor and Jewish philosopher, and the typical patios of Cordoba which are full of plants and flowers. Lunch at a restaurant. Departure for Granada in the afternoon. Accommodation.
25 MAY GRANADA TRANSFER TO SEVILLE Breakfast. Visit to the Alhambra and the Generalife Gardens in the morning. The Alhambra Palace was the last residence of the Kings of Nasrid on the peninsula until King Boabdil was expelled by the Catholic Kings during the conquest of Granada. The word Alhambra means Red Fortress as this reflects the colour that its walls take at sunset, a phenomenon which provides a real treat for onlookers. The visit will include the inside of the palace as well as the Courtyard of the Lions, Arrayanes Courtyard, the Two Sisters Tower and the Ambassadors Room, among others. The visit will end with the Generalife Gardens, an example of Arabic knowledge concerning gardening and water features. Lunch in a restaurant. Afternoon departure to Seville. Accommodation.
26 MAY SEVILLE Breakfast. This day will include a day visit to the city, with the María Luisa Park, the spectacular Plaza de España, Torre del Oro and Guadalquivir river. We shall walk along the streets of Santa Cruz, with its alleys that are sometimes so narrow that you can touch each side with arms outstretched, and that have evocative names such as Water Street and Pepper Street. We will also see the Plaza Doña Elvira; La Giralda, a minaret which is an icon of the city and the last remaining piece of the old mosque; the inside of the Alcázar of Seville, which was an old palace belonging to the Muslim kings and is now the current residence of the Spanish Royal Family when they come to the city; and the inside of the gothic style Cathedral. It is one of the largest places of worship in the world, full of artistic wealth and where the tomb of Christopher Columbus lies. Lunch in a restaurant. Accommodation.
27 MAY JEREZ DE LA FRONTERA Breakfast. Departure for day trip to Jerez de la Frontera. Arrival and sigthseeing tour of the city. Its historic centre, which has been declared a national heritage site, offers streets with real character, full of unexplored streets, squares and corners where fountains and orange trees blend in with palaces, churches and wine cellars. There will also be a visit to the Tío Pepe winery which will take guests back in time to the nineteenth century. The visit includes tasting of two wines. Lunch in a restaurant. Return to Seville.
