Invitation Education for Rural Transformation (ERT), 2010 The Institute of International Education, Department of Education, Stockholm University, in cooperation with the UNESCO International Research and Training Centre for Rural Education (INRULED), China, Beijing Normal University (BNU) and the Maharaja Sayajirao University, Vadodara is hosting the International Symposium on Education for Rural Transformation (ERT) on 8th - 10th November, 2010 in Stockholm, Sweden. The theme of this year s conference, Lessons Learned - National, International and Comparative Perspectives, will invite more than 30 experts from Australia, Bangladesh, China, India, Italy, Nepal, Romania, Tanzania and USA, respectively. The overriding objective of the ERT International Symposium is to critically examine the concept, policy and practice of education for rural transformation. The ERT International Symposium will provide the participants with an opportunity to overview current situations, problems and trends in education for rural transformation in the respective participating countries, and particularly, in China and India. The forum of experts shall identify existing good practices of educational empowerment as well as deliver some concrete action-oriented and tailor-made programmes and activities that can address the roots and causes of failures of existing educational structures, contents, and methods in rural areas. We sincerely hope all of you will benefit from the scholarly and intellectual discussions in this symposium.
