2 Aim This Executive Program is designed to help Danish/Nordic companies already established in India or those considering investing in India and building organizational capacity to be aware of the Danish/Nordic management systems, the values embedded in the organizational systems and their management style. The Program is for Indian employees of Danish/Nordic companies at middle management level. Target Group Indian executives/employees (middle management) working in Danish/Nordic companies in India. Learning Objective Learn about management practices in Denmark/Nordic Region Understand decision making processes Understanding Danish/Nordic leadership styles Learn about work ethics in Denmark/Nordic Region Approaches to problem solving techniques Approach to negotiation styles Method of Teaching A very large part of this program will be delivered in workshop/seminar mode. There would be short lectures to set the scene for the workshop. The workshop will have group work, discussion, presentation and summing up. There will be a special CEO session where the participants would have a unique opportunity to interact with the top management of the Danish Embassy and select Danish companies, who will share their experiences. Reading Material The course will prescribe two readings per module. One of the two would be a case study of Danish/Nordic companies working in India. The other would be a research paper drawn from a research journal. All participants will be expected to read all materials prescribed before the start of the course. The readings will be provided in digital form in advance of the initiation of the course and will also be provided in a folder form at the registration desk on the day the program commences. 3 Module 1- Contextualization (C1): India/Denmark The contextualization module is designed to expose the participants to the Danish context and ideas of management, within an Indian overall backdrop. Q; How is Danish management similar to the Indian context and where are the challenges. How practical are these ideas for an Indian context? Mixing and Matching management thinking Gertsen, M. & Zølner, P. J. Dowling, M. Festing, A Workshop Dinner C3 Synthesis, Presentations groups by What elements of Danish management practice are most compatible with Indian professional attitudes towards work? How can we synthesize these two approaches to management practice? Reflections; This will be conducted as a whole group and all will be required to participate in this session. Here we create insights about the day s experience. We do not analyze the day but reflect on the day s events. This is a special session designed to create learning through judgment free understanding in a larger context which is India
4 Module 2-Components of Implementation This module will focus on the key elements from the previous day and discuss how to implement the ideas emerging from module 1. The implementation here implies figuring out the why and how of things. The why is critical in identifying those elements from the first day that could have a lasting impact. How do Indians perceive what leadership is and how is it different from their Danish employers. A case (to be announced) Workshop Tea/Coffee break II-3 Presentations findings for the day and Discuss the key features of the leadership thinking in India, Denmark and how are they similar, if so what are they and how are they different Here participants will present their key findings Module 3 Implementation; Expansion of the components In this module the focus will be on the individual participant s plan to implement their learning. 7 Executive Program Nordic Business Ethics India Perspective Speakers Profile Hon. Mr. Martin Mikkelsen, Deputy Head of Mission, Royal Danish Embassy Mr. Mikkelsen has worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since He worked at the Danish Embassy to Iran from , while serving in Egypt from He was the Counsellor and Head of the Commercial Department at the Embassy in Czech Republic from He has worked at the Embassy in New Delhi as Deputy Head of Mission and Minister Counsellor since Mr. Mikkelsen holds an MSc from Copenhagen Business School. Associate Professor, PHD, Copenhagen Business School Currently Associate Professor of innovation and emerging economies and Director of Indian relations at the Department of inter-cultural communication and management, Copenhagen Business School. He is currently working on two books Co-creating experience based innovation and Innovation in emerging economies. His research has translated into executive programs in the area of leadership and innovation, where he is a member of the faculty on the Himalayan Executive Leadership Program. At CBS, he teaches several Masters and Undergraduate courses such as Knowledge Management and ICT in developing countries. Today, his work is used as a base line for Indian related policy making at a micro level. He has also coordinated the EU-Asia project that sought to raise the livelihood of entrepreneurs in China, Vietnam, and Philippines. Dr. Rai did his PHD in ICT innovation at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Associate Professor, PHD, Copenhagen Business School Specialising in qualitative research and sociological theory at the Department of intercultural communication and management, Copenhagen Business School. Zølner s publications include Being a Modern Indian in an Offshore Centre in Bangalore, a cross-cultural contextualisation of organisational identification, and Voice from India, employee perspectives on leadership and empowerment in the subsidiary of a Danish MNC in Bangalore. She also specialises in French affairs. Mr. N.K. Ranganath, CEO, Grundfos India A Mechanical Engineer from the College of Engineering, Guindy, Chennai with Management degree from XLRI Jamshedpur, Mr. Ranganath has been working for 34 years in marketing, sales, design, project management, finance, HR, business Strategy and general management. For the last seventeen years, his focus has been on not only setting up the company and its production facilities, but also to build brand equity. He has also been the President of the Madras Management Association, the Chairman of the Tamil Nadu Council of CII and the Chairman of Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy. Currently, he is part of the CII National Committee on manufacturing, water, CSR, and skill development. Mr. Deepak Gupta, Director & COO, Saxobank India Mr. Gupta is the Chief Operating Officer of Saxo Bank A/S India entity Saxo India. He has been with Saxo Bank for more than 4 years now. The main achievement for his tenure at Saxo Bank is to reshape the delivery operations from India which now has the blend of Indian skill set and Danish culture. Prior to Saxo Bank Deepak worked with Birlasoft Limited where he was heading the BFS vertical. He has over 20 years of experience in managing delivery operations from India having expertise and
8 knowledge in Investment Banking Domain with proven ability to establish and manage new development centers, facilitate revenue growth, and effectively manage operations. Deepak also sits on the board of Saxo India and Saxo Financial Services Private Limited. He is CFA Charter holder from CFA Institute USA and Financial Risk Manager (FRM) from GARP, USA. Deepak also holds an MBA from reputed Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi. Anshul Jain, Deputy Head of Trade, Royal Danish Embassy Anshul Jain has more than 15 years of experience as trade head, sector expert as well as advisor at the Embassy of Japan, Embassy of Iceland, and Embassy of Denmark. From 2009, he has worked as Sector Expert for the water/ infrastructure/ architecture/defence sectors. As Deputy Head of the trade section, he oversees the trade related activities at the embassy. Anshul writes regularly in daily newspapers and blogs such as Times of India and Hindu Business Line. He is an active member of National Clean Ganga Mission and National Skill Development Mission of the Government of India. He is a guest faculty at IIM Ahmedabad, Delhi School of Economics and Bifrost University of Iceland. Anshul is trained as an economist from Delhi University and is an alumnus of IIM Ahmedabad. Kristoffer Brix Bertelsen, Innovation and Research Counsellor, Royal Danish Embassy For the past two years, he has worked on developing, facilitating and supporting partnerships and project collaboration between Danish and Indian institutions of research and higher education at the Innovation Centre of the Danish Embassy. Prior to that, he worked as the Head of the Social Sciences Unit of the Danish Agency for Science, Technology and Innovation. He has also held a position as Programme Director at Copenhagen Business School, where he had the managerial and operational responsibility for the public sector executive education portfolio of CBS Executive. Other positions include Head of Department for Frederiksborg County, Head of Section for the Danish Research Agency, Project Coordinator for the Danish Cultural Institute, and Assistant Lecturer at Aarhus University, Department of Social Anthropology. Dr. Bertelsen has done a PhD in Social Anthropology and a MPA in Public Governance. Prabhuti Erichsen, Cross Cultural Consultant Prabhuti Erichsen is an experienced cultural consultant and has facilitated numerous trainings within the fields of intercultural communication and negotiations, crosscultural business understanding, and cultural competence. Since 2012, she has also been an India Country Specialist for Working effectively with India training programs held at Novo Nordisk, Denmark. In this capacity, Prabhuti provides valuable insight, personal and business anecdotes to support the program module. She facilitates on how to create value in today's multicultural virtual organizations and teams via building trust across time and distance, and developing common processes, practical skills needed to bridge culture. In recent years, Prabhuti has facilitated one-on-one executive coaching sessions for medium sized Danish companies having / or setting up business operations in India. Prabhuti has nearly 10 years of experience working with multicultural and multinational teams both in India and abroad (Bangladesh, U.K, and Denmark). In 2012, she completed an Executive Management Program from the IMD Business School in Lausanne, Switzerland. Prabhuti holds a Master s of Public Administration, and has taken a course in Organizational and Educational Psychology conducted by the faculty of University of Delhi, India.
