1. Location Leipzig is located in the east of Germany, in a low-lying area in the northwestern part of Saxony by the rivers Elster, Pleisse and Parthe. Its average altitude above sea-level is 118 m. Leipzig currently has about 500,000 inhabitants. The city covers an area of 297.6 km2 and enjoys a generally relatively mild climate. The annual mean temperature is between 9 and 11 degrees Celsius. Leipzig is a traditional focus of traffic infrastructure. Having grown as a trade-fair and commercial centre at the crossroads of two military and commercial routes, today more than ever the city focuses traffic routes from all directions. So there are numerous ways of getting to Leipzig. 2. How to get to Leipzig 2.1 By car: Because of the motorways A9 (Berlin-Leipzig-Nürnberg-München) and A14 (Magdeburg-Leipzig-Dresden) Leipzig is centrally integrated in the federal motorway network and, of course, is also located close to an important European junction. Coming from South West, you can reach the city area by the new motorway A38 (Leipzig-Göttingen). Its junction to the A14 (interchange Parthenaue). The Leipzig beltway altogether possesses 14 junctions from which the different quarters can be achieved directly. For the easiest access to the city centre, please take one of the following exits: Coming from Berlin and Magdeburg: junction Leipzig-Mitte of A14 Coming from Dresden: junction Leipzig-Ost of A14 Coming from Munich, Nuremberg, Erfurt: junction Leipzig-Südwest of A38 For orientating oneself within the city, the parking and building site guidance system provides detailed information. 2.2 By plane: Leipzig/Halle Airport is located right next to the motorway junction Schkeuditzer Kreuz (A9, A14), 18 kilometres from Leipzig and 23 kilometres from Halle. Its schedule includes direct flights to big european metropolis such as London, Paris, Madrid, Barcelona, Milan or Vienna. Moreover more than 25 tourist destinations around the Mediterranean and four long-distance tourist destinations are offered almost every day. Furthermore Leipzig/Halle airport is accessible from all over the world via Frankfurt/Main or Munich. Within Germany there are direct flights to Hamburg, Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Cologne/Bonn, Frankfurt/Main, Stuttgart, Nuremberg and Munich. You will get a great deal of information about arrival and departure directly at Leipzig/Halle Airport. The Airport Express train travelling between Leipzig Central Railway Station in the city centre, Leipzig New Fair exhibition centre and airport in 14 minutes has to be pointed out. 2.3 By train: Being located right in the city centre Leipzig's Central Station is traditionally one of the most important junctions of the German rail network. After its fundamental modernisation between 1995 and 1999 it also comes up to this significant role externally. With the Hauptbahnhof-Promenaden, Leipzig's Central Station is one of the most modern shopping and service centres in Germany. The centre covers about 30,000 m2 on three levels with about 140 shops. The station also has direct access facilities for cars with two multi-storey car parks Car park East and West. With its long-distance connections, its IntercityExpress, Intercity, EuroCity, CityNightLine and DB NachtZug connections, the Station boasts good and rapid links in all directions. Direct IntercityExpress lines ply every hour from Hamburg, Berlin, Frankfurt, Erfurt, Munich, Nuremberg and Dresden to Leipzig. There are non-stop Intercity connections from Magdeburg, Hannover, Bremen and Dortmund. With public metropolitan and suburban commuter railway systems there are direct travel possibilities to all bigger cities in the vicinity (e.g. Dresden, Chemnitz, Zwickau, Plauen, Gera, Halle, Magdeburg, Dessau, Lutherstadt Wittenberg and Cottbus). A rapid link to Leipzig/Halle Airport has been established with an Airport Express train travelling between Leipzig Central Railway Station in the city centre, Leipzig New Fair exhibition centre and airport in 14 minutes. 2.4 How to get to the Beach & Boat 2.4.1 By Car Take A14 and than exit messe Leipzig.
2.4.2 By tram line Take tram line 16 from Leipzig central station to Messe Leipzig. 3. Conditions The Wake the Pool event will be carried out according to the CWWC World Rules 2012. Please note that you have to wear a suitable helmet and vest in the wakeboard & wakeskate course. Categories Wakeboard: Open Men & Open Ladies: No age restriction Junior Men, unior Ladies: age restriction according to the CWWC world rules 2012 Wakeskate: Open Men & Open Ladies: No age restriction 10. License All riders should be members of their respective country s IWWF affiliated Federation with a valid international wakeboard license. If you are not sure how it works in your country, how to find the nearest club or the federation contact, please contact us and we ll provide information for you. Exceptions: Riders from countries that don t have a Wakeboard/Waterski Federation affiliated
to IWWF can register for the competition. If this is the case please contact us and we ll help you to arrange the insurance policy and a permission for individual entry. 11. Additional Rules for Indoor Competition according to the CWWC World Rules 1. No Inverts 2. No Reverse Obstacle using (olly on or over) 3. As always: Raise Hand after falls 4. Be fully concentrated, no alcohol, drugs and less sleep. 5. If you have any remarks or wishes about safety, please contact EAME CABLE WAKEBOARD COUNCIL Representatives or Delegates or the Chief Judge. 6. No tumble turns. 7. No handle releases on the Obstacles! 8. Release the handle before the exit buoy. 9. Hitting or jumping on or over the edge of the pool with the board or in dangerous way, could disqualified you. 10. Unsafe riding could also disqualify you. 11. Life vests have to float and protect you. No fake vests allowed! 12. Helmets have to close tight. 13. Long wetsuits are recommended. 14. No handle extensions. 15. No protests or explanations during the comp without 50 Euro and never about results. Results are double checked by scorer and judges. 16. Riders in wetsuits: Follow the competition and please help in case of emergencies. 17. Check each other s equipment, make cross checks to make everything as safe as possible. 12. Athletes Registration On-site registration will be on Thursday 16th February from 15:00 20:00 local time and Friday, 17th February from 15:00 20:00 local time. Please bring along your passport or ID in order to identify yourself. No registration on Saturday. 13. Doping control In accordance with the IWWF Anti-Doping Policy, random drug testing may be conducted on any of the competition days. All riders must have their passports with them at alltimes during the competition. Please note, if you are randomly chosen for drug testing, and fail to identify yourself with your passport, or fail to take the test for any other reason, it will result with an immediate disqualification.
