Student Council Officer Contract Name: Grade: In order to run for Student Council, you must currently be an Student Council officer, appointed officer or a Student Council representative. Circle the Office for which you intend to run: President Vice President Secretary Treasurer Parliamentarian Verification of Academic Eligibility 1. The student wishing to be a candidate for an office must have a cumulative overall average of B (80) or better and must maintain this average. 2. This average will be verified with the candidate s counselor. Verification of Previous Discipline Actions 1. I understand and accept the violations of school rules and board policy can result in my disqualification from the election. 2. This will be verified with the candidate s assistant principal from last year. Please read the following carefully before signing: I understand that I must abide by all campaign procedures, rules, requirements, and guidelines set forth by the Huntsville High School, the Administration of Huntsville High School, and/or by the Huntsville City Board of Education. I further understand that failure to do so may result in my disqualification from the race. I understand and accept that violations of school rules or board policy, and/or unsatisfactory academic performance occurring after becoming an officer can result in my removal from office. I understand also that, if elected, I will be required to attend all meetings and to carry out all duties of my office, as well as other functions and duties that may be delegated by the Student Council sponsor, or by the administration of Huntsville High School. I understand that my elected office will take precedence over any extracurricular activities, and that inability or unwillingness to carry out those duties will result in my removal from that office. Officer Duties The Student Council officers generally work as a team with the individual responsibilities of each member being less emphasized then the activities of the group. It is important that all members be able to work together and that they realize that they are being depended upon by the other officers, as well as, by their class. President Presides at all meetings. Calls special meetings if necessary. Sets up committees if necessary. Votes only in case of a tie. Works closely with school administration and advisors. Serves as spokesperson for council. To run for this position, the candidate must have served on student council in the past. Vice President Takes the place of the president if necessary. Succeeds the president if necessary. Has right to vote in all matters. Performs all duties as requested by the Administration, Advisor, and/or President. Heads the code of conduct committee within student council. Secretary Keeps accurate and permanent records of all meetings and action taken. Attends all committee meetings. Has the right to vote and debate. Preforms all duties as requested by the Administration, Advisor, President, and/or Vice President. Treasurer

Keeps accurate and permanent records of all financial business. Has right to vote and debate. Performs all duties as requested by the Administration, Advisor, President, and/or Vice President. Heads the extracurricular activities committee. Parliamentarian Keeps accurate and permanent record of all rules and procedures for the conduct of meetings and the council.
