Frequently Asked Questions About Registration At Hopeful Lutheran Preschool Do I need to be a member of the church to attend Hopeful Preschool? No. Any child is eligible to enroll at Hopeful Lutheran Preschool. I have heard that other preschools in the area have one registration day and that people start lining up hours before registration begins. How soon should I arrive for registration at Hopeful? At Hopeful Lutheran Preschool we do not have a one day registration. New families are invited to come and tour our facility and meet the staff. Registration begins Thursday March 1 st, and continues Monday through Thursdays until all spots are filled. How many openings will there be at Hopeful Preschool this year? We will have approximately 16 openings in the 2 year old classes, and 36 openings in the 3 year old classes. Our four year old class will have a minimum of 12 openings. How will I know if my child has gotten in? You will be told at the time of registration if there is an opening in your child s age group. If there is an opening your registration form and fee will be collected and that spot will be closed. If there is not an opening, you can choose to have your name put on our waiting list (the registration fee will not be collected at this time). If a spot becomes available you will be called. Can I request my child to be with a certain classmate? Request must be made at the time of registration. Class and teacher assignments are based on enrollment, we will try to accommodate parents requests within reason and if space allows.

Hopeful Lutheran Preschool 6430 Hopeful Church Rd. A Ministry of Hopeful Lutheran Church Florence, KY. 41042 Judi Kretzmann, Director (859) 647-1105 Dear Parents, Thank you for your interest in Hopeful Lutheran Preschool. Choosing a preschool for your child can be confusing and a little overwhelming. I hope you will find the enclosed information helpful in making that decision. It is an exciting time for us as we begin registration for our eighth year and hope you will choose to be a part of our preschool family. Hopeful Preschool offers a strong kindergarten readiness program in conjunction with a Christian education philosophy that applies to all phases of development. Enclosed you will find a copy of the Hopeful Lutheran Preschool philosophy, a look at our October curriculum, a schedule of our morning routine, and a registration form along with other helpful information. Class activities and class sizes: Our daily routines are broken up into 20-30 minute segments alternating between high level activities and low level activities in keeping with pre-school age attention spans. Stories, art, music, and games are intentionally related to our weekly themes and are planned for each age group according to their cognitive, emotional, physical and spiritual development. All of our classes have Christian teachers and aides assigned to them. The two year old classes have up to 10 students per class. The three year old and four year old classes have up to 12 students per class, and the Pre-K class has up to 14 students. Snack Time: Snack is provided by the preschool and is included in the cost of tuition. We stay within State guidelines for healthy snacks. Snacks vary between fruits, vegetables, salty snacks and fruit juice or water. The children wash their hands with soap and water and sing a short blessing before snack time begins. Progress Reports: Hopeful Preschool evaluates our 4 year old classes and our pre-k class and schedules parent conferences before kindergarten registration begins in March. All other parent conferences are scheduled upon request. Open House: Hopeful Preschool will host an Open House on Saturday February 8 th from 10am until 2pm.

Registration: Registration begin Saturday February 8 th. New families are invited to come and tour the facility and meet the staff between the hours of 9:30 and 11:00 am Monday through Thursday or by appointment. Registration will remain open until all of the spots are filled. 9 Things Your Child Will Learn in Preschool Be a Student: Your child will learn how to live by set rules and get used to daily routines basic classroom conduct. Approach other children and be comfortable around them: This prepares them to work on school projects in pairs and groups in the future. Be independent: This is where your child will learn self-care skills such as buttoning buttons. Tell a story: Children will hear many stories and they will be encouraged to tell stories and act them out with their friends. Suddenly, stories take on structure, a beginning, a middle, and an end and many children will want to begin to read on their own. Be interdependent: Your child will learn to ask for help when he needs it, as well as, gain the courage necessary to speak. They will learn to accept authority from adults outside of their family. Cut and paste: While your child uses scissors, glue sticks and crayons he is developing the fine motor skills necessary for writing. Build with blocks: Stacking and sorting blocks helps students develop their spatial skills and gain hands-on math experience. Recognize symbols, concepts, and rhymes: Preschoolers enjoy identifying letters and numbers and develop a useful understanding of size and shape. Learning to rhyme can improve their reading ability. Hop, skip, and jump: This will help your child develop muscles and coordination.
