1 SAFETY, INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS FOR: ASZ01, ASZ02, ASZ03, ASZ04 6x 54w SuperZoo T5 HIGH FREQUENCY ELECTRONIC CONTROLLER LUMINAIRE Unit Weight: 8.5 Kg Dimensions: L1440*W400*H80mm Power Consumption: 289 Watt KEEP THESE INSTRUCTIONS FOR FUTURE REFERENCE PLEASE READ AND FOLLOW ALL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS The Arcadia SuperZoo T5 luminaire is a very powerful fitting that has been specifically designed for use in very large enclosures. This fitting can produce and project very high quantities of light and UV radiation. Follow all safety and installation instructions carefully. As glass and most acrylics block UV radiation the unit does not pose a risk to keepers or customers outside of the enclosure. Keepers with a history of eye complaints including glaucoma or macular degeneration should wear UV filter eye protection before exposure to a UV emitting system inside of the enclosure. DANGER- To avoid possible electric shock, special care should be taken during Installation and maintenance. For each of the following situations, do not attempt repairs yourself; return the appliance to an authorised service facility or discard the appliance. This product is designed for indoor use and the illumination of very large enclosures only and will provide a good and safe service life, provided that these instructions are followed. Failure to do so may result in serious personal injury or proper ty damage. If you are in any doubt about the installation or operation of this product, please consult a qualified and experienced electrician. Check that the voltage and frequency rating on the product label is the same as your electrical supply before proceeding further. WARNING- To guard against injury, basic safety precautions should be observed, including the following: 1. Disconnect all appliances in the enclosure from the mains supply socket before carrying out maintenance on the Luminaire. 2. Always support the Luminaire when fitting or adjusting the suspension height. 3. Do not operate the Luminaire less than the recommended distance above the animal. See illustration 1 for recommended distances. It is advised that no human or animal should be allowed to be any closer than 90 cm (36 ) from the lamp in the case of the ASZ03 6 lamp 12% fitting and 60 cm (24 ) for the ASZ01 6 lamp 6% fitting. 4. Regularly check all mountings and suspension parts. 5. Do not look directly into the light source. 6. Do not touch the light source while it is on. Allow the light source to cool before touching it. 7. The Luminaire can get HOT. Never touch the Luminaire while it is operating, allow adequate time for it to cool before attempting any maintenance. 8. A photo gradient should be maintained underneath the fitting as shown In Illustration 1 and after consultation on the type of species being lit. 9. Keepers with a history of eye complaints including glaucoma or macular degeneration should wear UV filter eye protection before exposure to a UV emitting system inside of the enclosure. 10. Do not operate the Luminaire with defective or faulty lamps circuit damage may occur. Replace lamps promptly with a lamp of the correct type and wattage. It is advisable to keep spare lamps available.
2 11. Do not use the appliance other than for its intended use. The use of non-arcadia attachment or accessories is not recommended and may cause an unsafe condition. 12. Do not install or store the appliance where it will be exposed to extremes of weather or temperatures below freezing. Overall dimensions: 1440*W400*H80mm. Lamp installation and Replacement High Output T5 lamps should be replaced in heated Zoo enclosures every 9-12 months. Install lamps as shown in illustration. Do not twist the lamps when inserting them into the holders. Ensure the pins have fully engaged in the holder and the lamp is properly seated. Incorrectly installed lamps may not function or life may be shortened.
3 Unscrew the ring from each Ultra Seal lamp holder, fit the rings onto either end of the lamp as shown in illustration. Align pins on lamp to the lamp holder holes and insert the lamp by pushing the lamp directly into the lamp holder. Screw the rings tightly onto the lamp holder body. Do not twist the lamp within the lamp holder. The ring is fully tightened when there is no gap between the ring and the body. Ensure that the ring is not cross-threaded. To remove the lamp, undo the ring from the lamp holder body and pull the lamp directly out from the lamp holder. Do not twist the lamp in any way. Physical installation Select a suitable site close to your electricity supply. Do not connect appliance to the mains supply during installation. This appliance is for indoor use only. Ensure the appliance is kept in a ventilated area and away from other heat sources. Make sure that the light from the appliance is aimed within the enclosure. APWIRESET mounting unit can be fixed with 4 point hanging kit (supplied). Wire Suspension Kit: Comprises of the following parts: A. Ceiling attachment. B. Screw cap. C. Suspension wire with bead. D. Quick-adjust holder & screws. Securely fix the ceiling attachments to your ceiling using the most suitable method of fastening, either screws or nuts and bolts. Pass the suspension wire through the screw cap, so that the bead sits inside. Tightly screw the screw cap into the ceiling attachment. It is advisable to tighten it with a spanner to ensure that it will not come undone accidentally. You will need to hold the ceiling attachment in a pair of pliers with a soft cloth to avoid scratching it. When both suspension wires are in place, feed the wires down through the buttons on top of the Quick-adjust holders which will automatically hold the wires in position. To lower the height of the unit, support the fitting one end at a time, and release the wire by depressing the button at the top of the quick-adjust. To raise the fitting, support it and pull the wire through the hole in the side of the quick-adjust holders. When adjusting the fitting always ensure that there is sufficient wire to achieve your target height. Always leave a minimum 10 mm of wire showing. Excess wire can be concealed on the top. If cutting the wire, wrap the wire with masking tape and cut with sharp, heavy duty side cutters. Place the plastic bung on the end of the wire after cutting it.
4 Electrical installation Power Consumption: 289 Watts, 1.25Amp Power factor: >0.98 A qualified electrician must carry out the installation of this luminaire in accordance with the information in this leaflet and relevant wiring regulations. Ensure that the voltage and frequency of the incoming supply is 220-240v, 50-60Hz. This appliance must be earthed and the circuit must be protected by a suitable fuse! For optimum protection of electronic components fit surge protection. Do not conduct any High Voltage insulation tests as damage to electronic components will occur. Before installing, ensure that the rated voltage and frequency of the Luminaire match that of your power supply, and that the mains lead plug is fully compatible with your mains supply socket. If in doubt, please return the unit to the point of purchase for verification. This appliance should be earthed to minimise the possibility of electric shock. This appliance is equipped with a mains lead having an equipment earth wire. The mains lead must be wired into a mains supply that is installed and earthed in accordance with all appropriate codes and ordinances. Make connections to the electrical supply in accordance with the following colour coding: Live: Brown, Neutral: Blue, Earth: Green and Yellow. Plugs and sockets for use in areas likely to be hosed down must have a higher degree of protection against water (with a minimum IP Rating of IP44). Trouble Shooting Fluorescent lamps strike almost immediately at nearly full brightness (dependent on ambient temperature) and reach their operating temperature soon after. After switching the lamps off, they can be switched on straight away. If the Luminaire does not light: Check that the mains power is connected and switched on, including timer if used. Check that the fuse. Check that the luminaire is rated for the same supply voltage that you are using. Check that the lamps are of the correct wattage, type and length for the Luminaire. Check that the lamps are installed correctly. Maintenance Section: Caution! Disconnect all appliances in the enclosure from the mains supply before carrying out maintenance on the luminaire or if any prolonged maintenance is to be carried out within the enclosure. Always support the luminaire when adjusting its height or mountings. Regularly check the security of all parts of your hanging mechanism or mountings. Cleaning: Disconnect from the power supply and wait till the Luminaire is cool before cleaning, this not only avoids smears but also reduces the likelihood of any damage from moisture entering the Luminaire. Both the appearance and performance of your Luminaire can benefit from regular cleaning. A damp cloth is normally adequate to clean the body. Reflectors should be maintained and gently cleaned as required to ensure good reflection and the optimum output.
