1 General informaion This chaper provides background informaion abou he pool hea pumps covered in his Insallaion and Mainenance Guide. Imporan informaion, guaranee condiions and safey insrucions are also presened here. This chaper is inended for boh users and insallaion engineers. Produc descripion The models V80-3P/V130-3P/V20-3P are a range of specifically developed air/waer hea pumps designed for energy efficien heaing of swimming pools or spa faciliies. The models have been developed and designed for he ordic climae. The pool hea pumps are designed o work wih good efficiency and a low noise level. All models feaure: Tianium hea exchangers resisan o chlorine and sal waer Environmenally friendly and effecive refrigeran (R410a) Digial LED conrol Dynamic defros funcion Buil-in flow swich Union or flanged connecions depending on model Funcional principle The pool hea pumps are V80-3P/V130-3P/V20-3P primarily used for heaing, bu can also be used for cooling. The models are conrolled via a flow swich and in order o work he pool s circulaion pump mus be running. The pool hea pump works wih he greaes energy efficiency when here are small differences in emperaure beween he inle and oule. The recommendaion is 1-2 degrees difference beween he inle and oule. The waer flow is regulaed via a bypass coupling. Read more abou he bypass coupling in secion 2 Insallaion. All models are developed o guaranee good efficiency in he ordic climae. However, i is imporan o be aware ha he degree of efficiency is dependen on he surrounding oudoor emperaure and he emperaure of he pool waer. The hea pump can be seen o perform wih differen efficiency during differen pars of he year depending on he oudoor condiions. A he sar of he season, when he waer in he pool is cold, he hea pump needs o work coninuously for a long period o produce he righ emperaure in he pool. When he pool waer has reached he required emperaure, he hea pump auomaically sops and sars as required. I is always cos-effecive o cover he pool when no in use, especially a nigh. Approximaely 60 70 % of he hea disappears from he waer surface of he pool. Covering also reduces he hea pump s running ime. The hea pump mus always be insalled ouside as i draws is energy from he surrounding air. I mus be well venilaed and mus no be enclosed or in any oher way shielded so he air circulaion is impaired. The circulaion of he air beween he inake and exhaus impairs efficiency Fros or ice can form on he hea pump s evaporaor. This is compleely normal. An auomaic defrosing cycle will sar o mel he ice. Afer he defrosing cycle he hea pump sars is sandard program and coninues o hea he pool. The swimming pool hea pump normal working condiion is beween and 40 C ambien emperaure and beween 1 and 40 C inle waer emperaure. Chlorinaor POOL Sand filer Refer o he labels on he uni before connecing he inle and oule. Circulaion pump 4

General informaion Componen par and accessories 1. Main uni V80-3P/V130-3P/V20-3P 2. Insallaion accessories Insallaion insrucions LCD display wih 20 meres of cabling Union couplings (V80-3P/V130-3P only) Damping rubber blocks (V80-3P/V130-3P only)! Insallaion maerial is enclosed inside he machine. Open he cover and remove he maerial before insallaion. oe ha he insallaion engineer provides pipes and he bypass coupling for he insallaion. Imporan informaion You can read abou some especially imporan poins concerning ranspor and sorage, insallaion, usage, mainenance and faul racing below. Transpor and sorage Models designed o be ranspored verically mus be ranspored in his way. This is because he suspension inside he compressor can be damaged if he uni is laid down. If he hea pump is iled during insallaion or draining his should be done wih care and for he shores ime possible. The original packaging is inended o be used o reduce he risk of ranspor damage. Insallaion The pool hea pump mus be insalled by a qualified insallaion engineer and placed oudoors. The uni mus sand firmly, sraigh and raised from ground level. Provide a firm and fla surface. oise propagaion mus be aken ino consideraion when posiioning during insallaion. Posiioning of he uni mus be done so ha noise from he compressor and fan disurb he environmen as lile as possible. In a combinaion involving solar collecors, you should ensure ha ho solar collecor waer does no flow direcly o he pool hea pump. If he solar collecor waer becomes oo ho you risk damaging he hea pump beyond repair. Use and operaion The parameers on he display are se a he facory and do normally no need o be adjused. The emperaure is se o 27 C. If you wish o increase he emperaure, check firs o ensure ha your wishes of a high emperaure do no conravene any guaranees concerning he general pool consrucion. Mainenance procedures Perform regular checks o ensure ha he inle grille is no blocked by leaves, snow, ec. In addiion, make sure ha excessive fros or ice does no build up below he uni during cold weaher condiions. The ouer case can be cleaned using a damp cloh if necessary. Take care no o scrach he uni. If he pool hea pump should be ou of service over he winer, i is imporan o drain he uni of waer. The guaranee does no cover damage due o freezing on accoun of insufficien mainenance. The hea exchanger can also be flushed ou o remove any remaining deposis ahead of winer drainage. Read more abou drainage in secion 4 - Mainenance, service and faul racing. Service and suppor The pool hea pumps are designed for reliable operaion and a long life. If a faul should occur you are advised o conac he insallaion engineer who carried ou he insallaion. Always specify he produc serial number, which you will find under he raing plae on he long side of he hea pump. A basic guide o faul racing is presened in secion 4 - Mainenance, service and faul racing. The uni may only be repaired by a qualified insallaion engineer or an accredied workshop. Original spare pars mus be used for repairs. Large amouns of mel and condensaion waer can be discharged during defrosing and operaion. Consequenly, i is imporan o provide good drainage and run-off. The unis mus sand freely so ha air is no prevened o pass he evaporaor. Avoid a placemen ha produces cold air circulaion as his reduces he oupu of he hea pump.

General informaion Checklis insallaion The following checklis provides a general descripion of how he insallaion is carried ou. Place he hea pump on a firm and horizonal surface. Open he service hach and remove he enclosed insallaion ki. Ensure ha all componen pars have been delivered. Roue he pipes for incoming and ougoing waer. Exercise care o ensure he inle and oule are insalled correcly. Moun he hea pump afer he sand filer. Insall a bypass for regulaing he righ parial flow for he pool hea pump. Connec he elecriciy. Energise and check he seings. Pu in operaion and adjus he flow o he pool hea pump o he righ level. Read more abou sar up in secion 2 under he heading Saring up he uni. Guaranee condiions The componen pars of he sysem mus be ranspored, sored and insalled in accordance wih he provisions se ou in he manual. Repairs mus be carried ou by a qualified engineer. Original pars mus be used for repairs. The guaranee becomes void if he condiions above are violaed. Safey Regulaions I is especially imporan o ake ino accoun he following safey insrucions when handling, insalling and using he hea pump: Only qualified persons may work on he produc s cooling sysem. Always disconnec he power supply before working on he sysem. 6

2 Insallaion A comprehensive insallaion descripion is provided in his chaper. This chaper is primarily inended for insallaion engineers, bu can also be read by he end user o increase his/her knowledge. Ouline diagram Chlorinaor POOL Refer o he labels on he uni before connecing he inle and oule. Sand filer Circulaion pump Posiioning he uni The pool hea pump will work ideally under he following condiions: Access o fresh air Correc elecrical insallaion Clean pool filer and correc pipe rouing In principle he pool hea pump can be placed anywhere oudoors. However, do no place he pool hea pump enclosed wih resriced access o he air inake and air exhaus (see he figure below). A srucure wih a roof is no necessary. 2000 mm Se up The pool hea pump mus be placed on a firm, horizonal base and should no be placed nex o or be insalled wih brackes on sensiive walls wih a lighweigh srucure. The uni mus be placed so ha noise from he compressor and fan disurb he surroundings as lile as possible. The uni mus sand firmly, sraigh and raised from ground level. Ensure a firm and fla surface is provided. Large amouns of mel and condensaion waer can be discharged during defrosing and operaion. Consequenly, i is imporan o provide good drainage and run-off. The oudoor secion mus be placed so ha he air supply o he evaporaor coil is sufficien. Oherwise he power oupu and efficiency will be impaired. Air inake 1000 mm Air inake 1000 mm 7

Insallaion Leading off condensaion waer Oudoor air is cooled in he evaporaor by approximaely -10 degrees. The waer vapour hen condenses on he evaporaor coil fins. If he air humidiy is high his can resul in many lires of waer per hour. The condense waer is discharged hrough an oule on he shor side. I is imporan o consider he posiion of he uni so ha he condense waer can be led off correcly.! Do no confuse condense waer for waer leakage! If he display shows E03, his means ha he flow in he sysem is oo low, and ha he bypass valve may need o be closed igher, or ha he oal flow of he purificaion sysem is oo low. Bypass valve Pipe connecions The pool hea pump is conneced o he pool s circulaion sysem wih he help of he supplied 63 mm union couplings (applies o V80-3P/V130-3P). Screw connecions o he hea exchanger mus be ighened by hand. V20-3P has DI110 flange connecions wih seals and blind flanges on delivery. A bypass coupling should be fied o enable seing of he correc parial flow o he pool hea pump. Bypass coupling We recommend ha a bypass coupling is fied o all insallaions in order o adjus he righ parial flow o he pool hea pump. Firs open all he valves o simplify adjusmen of he bypass. Inerconnecion of muliple unis In order o save energy, i is recommended ha several unis work ogeher in parallel. In doing so, opimal use is made of he hea pumps. Series connecion is also possible, bu is only recommended in cases where resricions in he sysem in general do no allow parallel connecion. See he figure below for he insallaion principle. Adjusing he bypass 1. Open all he valves 2. Check he incoming and ougoing waer emperaure, see Secion 3. a. If here is no difference in emperaure, gradually close he supply valve unil he difference is beween 1 and 2 degrees. b. If he difference is above 2 degrees, gradually close he bypass valve unil he difference is beween 1-2 degrees Sand filer Circulaion pump Swimming pool Chlorinaor 1 2 3 Parallel coupling of muliple unis 8

Insallaion Elecrical insallaion The elecrical connecion is made o he pool hea pump s juncion box locaed behind he fron panel. A safey swich mus be locaed visibly on he uni. The working swich proecs agains uninenional saring, for example, when servicing he uni. The uni mus be conneced o earh in order o achieve adequae earhing proecion. There is an addiional connecion on he erminal block, To Pump. This connecion can be used if you wish o connec a separae circulaion pump o he pool hea pump. See he wiring diagram in secion for more deailed informaion abou he elecrical connecion.! When connecing 3-phase unis, make sure ha he phases are in correc order or he machine won sar. If he machine won sar a he firs seup, please swap wo phases around and he machine will sar. Saring up he uni In order o hea he pool or spa waer, he pool s circulaion pump mus sar and waer needs o circulae hrough he hea exchanger. The following procedure should be followed when saring he pool hea pump for he firs ime: 1. Sar he pool s circulaion pump. Check ha here is a flow o and from he pool hea pump. 2. Swich on he supply volage, press O/OFF on he display and he uni will sar up afer a few seconds. 3. Afer a few minues, check ha emperaures T03 and T04 are lower han T0. 4. Sop he pool s circulaion pump and make sure ha he pool hea pump sops auomaically and displays he error E32. Also check ha he hea pump sars again auomaically when he circulaion pump has resared.. The pool hea pump will only sop when i exceeds he preferred emperaure by 1 degree. The pool hea pump will hen sar again when he emperaure in he pool drops by 1º below he required emperaure. Flow swich: The pool hea pump is equipped wih a flow swich ha prevens saring in he even of insufficien waer flow. Time delay: The uni is fied wih an approximae minue sar delay o preven repeaed resars and compressor wear. Even a brief power failure acivaes he sar delay of minues. 9
