Sadie and Sound Forge JAWS scripts

Introduction The ProGUIDE project wanted to help by improving the possibilities for visually impaired persons, especially in education and working life. We chose three key professions for the visually impaired: sound engineers, musicians and producers. Many visually impaired sound engineers lost their jobs when digital technology was introduced and the new technology showed to be inaccessible for them.

Aim and Goal The target groups for ProGUIDE are visually impaired musicians, sound engineers and producers, both professionals and people with interest to study these professions. The aim of the project is an effective solution for visually impaired within those professions. This includes the technical solution to get access to the digital technology as well as the necessary education for those professions.

Sadie SADiE software is the foundation of all SADiE audio recording and editing systems. SADiE software is suitable for: Audio recording, from mono to 128 simultaneous inputs; Editing; Audio processing - EQ, dynamics, level control; Mixing with automation, from mono to 5.1 surround; Professional mastering, for references or duplication masters; Location and outside broadcast recording; Remote controlled multitrack tape machine replacement; Speech editing for audio books and podcasts; Remastering and restoration, including multitrack archiving; And much more

Sadie Developed by the ProGUIDE research project, the SADiE adaptation for blind people consists besides the regular SADiE workstation of 4 different components: A so-called screen reader (screen access software in this case it is JAWS for Windows) A specific adaptation of the JAWS screen reader for the SADiEsoftware (JAWS script) A Braille display (Papenmeier's BRAILLEX EL 80s) A speech synthesizer With this combination, the screen content of the SADiE software is presented via synthesized speech and Braille (accessibility), and the combination also creates a user interface that eases a number of functions of the very visual, i.e. graphics oriented sound software SADiE program for blind users. In many instances, clicking on a routing key of the Braille display for example will trigger the appropriate mouse clicks at the relevant places, resulting in a very quick and intuitive interaction with the SADiE program.

Sadie THE SADiE LRX2 Location Audio Workstation has been designed to fulfill the needs of an ever more complex recording environment and to serve a wide variety of remote recording applications The SADiE PCM-H64 system is a multi-track digital recorder which can benefit from the full range of SADiE editing and processing features

The Braille Display Sadie The Braille display used for the SADiE adaptation is Papenmeier's BRAILLEX EL 80s This device has a number of unique interaction elements that make the use of the software particularly quick and easy.

Sound Forge Sound Forge software provides audio editors and producers tools for audio recording, editing and mastering. Whether in the studio or field, it is a production suite for professional audio recording and mastering, sound design, audio restoration, and Red Book CD creation.

Sound Forge Our new script gives you the possibility to work more efficiently and gain more powerful use of Sound Forge 9.0 and 10.0. The script gives you access to most parts of Sound Forge. Since great efforts have been made to make use of Braille we strongly recommend that you have a Braille display connected when working. The script has been optimized for use with the BRAILLEX EL 80s. However, it's possible to use the script without Braille.

Sound Forge These are the main features of this script: Making it possible to edit multiple channels Full control with Braille and speech when selecting data Peak values reported in both Braille and speech Access to most of the sliders i Sound Forge Access to the record dialog
