Fittings for Sliding Folding Partition Doors Case Studies System: Foldaside 310 (see pages 168-171) Important: Keep all fittings flush faced as leaves fold onto one another Head sealing A Use 950.07.379 mounted on the recieving frame under face. Timber soffit batten may be necessary. The folding leaves will close against the brush filaments. Benefit is doors closing onto a continuous seal. In applications with notched/rebated head, seal may be achieved with blade seal - see Section 4 pages 122-126 Blade seal B Option: Use 950.07.269 (or 950.07.389 depending upon clearance from door head to bracket batten) morticed into head of door at centre. Filaments will seal on under edge of batten. C Possible alternative is to use 950.07.369 inverted and face morticed into top edge of closing side of door with filaments sealing to bottom of bracket batten Bottom sealing D Use 950.07.269 morticed into door bottom but offset to clear flush bolt heal return (alternatively, if centrally morticed it will be necessary to break the line of seal at this point). Brush filaments seal onto floor face F Vertical joint sealing E Alternative is to use 950.07.369 inverted and face morticed into bottom edge of door so that filaments seal onto face of floor Sealing at hinge locations between leaves - vertical joints F Use blade seal at rebate on leaves and hanging stile - see Section 4 pages 122-126 Blade seal Head sealing A Head sealing B Head sealing C 950.07.379 45º brush seal 950.07.269 Brush seal Bottom sealing D 950.07.269 Brush sealoffset to clear flush bolt heal 950.07.269/950.07.389 Brush seal 950.07.369 Brush sealinverted flush face morticed Bottom sealing E 950.07.369 (or 950.07.279) Brush sealinverted and flush face mortice fitted Sales and Technical Support Tel: 01788 548855 (all regions) Tel: 08 418 2435 (London region) Section 143
Fittings for Sliding Folding Partition Doors Case Studies System: Foldaside 640 (see pages 186-187) Interior doors only - very sheltered area examples Important: Keep all fittings flush faced as leaves fold onto one another Head sealing A Use 950.07.379 fitted to the header soffit trim on the closing side with filaments to the door face B Alternative is to use 950.07.369 inverted and face fixed onto top edge of opening side of door with filaments sealing to soffit trim underface C Option: Use 950.07.269 morticed into head of door, offset from centre. Would need to be stopped short because of the top roller guide bracket so full length seal not possible with this option Bulb seal, used where joinery gaps are 3-6 mm F Vertical joint sealing Blade seal, used where joinery gaps are 1.5-4 mm Bottom sealing D Use 950.07.269 morticed into door bottom but offset from centre by 12-13 mm to seal filaments onto top face of bottom track E Alternative is to use 950.07.369 inverted and face morticed into bottom edge of door so that filaments seal onto face of floor/cill Note: Because of the size of the bottom roller housing with this gear, whichever seal option is used, it will have to stop short at the roller housing and therefore full width door sealing is not possible. For every pivot/roller housing deployed, 45 mm will be unsealable Sealing at hinge locations between leaves - vertical joints F Use blade seal at rebate on leaves and hanging stile - see Section 4 pages 122-126 Head sealing A Head sealing B Head sealing C 950.07.369 Brush sealinverted and flush face morticed N.B. Fittings for Sliding Folding Partition Doors Case Studies System: Foldaside 866 (see pages 184-185) Note: Rebated frame set. Doors close home on rebate at all perimeters Simplest and invisible seal would be use of blade seal for all perimeter frame rebate gaps of up to 3 mm, (or bulb seal if gaps are over 3-6 mm) - see Section 4 page 122-126 Alternative for the head and side jambs would be use of 950.07.399. Brush filaments would seal onto closing face of door leaves. This option is visible. In very exposed areas (i.e. cliff-top penthouse balcony doors) the use of both the above options may prove beneficial Additional external bottom seal can be provided as a draught and rain deflector by fitting surface brush seal 950.07.399 to seal onto cill threshold. Necessary to trim to avoid bottom roller housing Stop Door Frame jamb Sealing at hinge locations between leaves Use blade seal at all rebates (or bulb seal if gaps are over 3 mm) - see Section 4 pages 122-126 Stop Frame jamb Door Blade seal Bulb seal- N.B. Use bulb seal when gaps are large i.e. 3-6 mm Frame perimeter seal may be used in place of or in addition to the bulb or blade seal 950.07.399 35º brush seal blade seal or bulb seal 950.07.399 35º brush seal- Use in conjunction with bulb or blade seal on rebate/ stop face Blade seal Frame perimeter seal may be used in place of or in addition to the bulb or blade seal blade seal or bulb seal 950.07.399 35º brush seal 950.07.379 45º brush seal Bulb seal- Option: Where joinery clearance is wide i.e. gaps 3-6 mm use bulb seal blade seal or bulb seal Sales and Technical Support Tel: 01788 548855 (all regions) Tel: 08 418 2435 (London region) Section 145

Fittings for Sliding Folding Exterior Doors Häfele Centor E3 Folding System for Partition Doors Application: High quality top hung folding door system for residential or commercial applications. Complete with weather seals which are suitable for coastal applications. Function: Normally used for outward opening doors. Inward opening doors are possible, please contact the Architectural Ironmongery department for further details. Range: Door type: Non rebated equal sized doors Max. panel weight: 80 kg Max. panel height: 3000 mm Max. panel width 1000 mm Max. opening 16 m Panel thickness: 35-68 mm Max. number of panels: Up to 8 panels to each side. Odd or even number of doors can be used. Note: Range dims given are intended as a guide only. Calculated weight check should be performed to ensure doors built to maximum height and width do not exceed maximum weight. Adjustability: 10 mm vertical adjustment on all pivots and carriers. 8 mm lateral adjustment on each pivot set. Cut-out in track allows simple removal of hardware Durability: Hardware is made using 304 and 316 stainless steel. System tested to exceed 50,000 operations. Salt spray corrosion tested Door size calculation To calculate the dimensions of the doors or openings we strongly recommend you contact the Architectural Ironmongery Department for advice. To manually calculate door sizing for an opening, follow the following steps: 1. Prepare a basic sketch of your door opening (see worked example), to visualise clearances and check sizes. 2. The calculation is based on all panels being equal width, using half-offset hinges. Note that he allowance between each panel is 4 mm although hinge thickness is less - this allowance has been determined by consultation with fabricators as the best approximation for calculation. Clearance between hinges and hinge pins, coupled with the pressure from compression seals accounts for the allowance being larger than the nominal hinge flap thickness. 3. Recommended clearances are as follows; Jamb to panel (door closed): 7 mm Panel to panel (door closed): 4 mm Top of panel to head: 5 mm Bottom of panel to sill: 10.0 mm 4. Panel width: W Opening width: L Total number of panels: N Panel width is: W = L - 14 - (4x(N - 1))** N Surelock adjustment Surelock is the trademark for Centor s carrier pin locking system (patents granted). Carrier pins at the top pivot, intermediate and end carriers support the full door weight and it is here that the height of the panels is adjusted. Surelock ensures that once the heights are set, they are set. Using Surelock is simple 1. Surelock is supplied with a plastic shipping clip installed to make initial adjustment very easy. 2. Insert a flat bladed screwdriver into the slot to rotate the pin 3. When correct adjustment is reached and doors operate well, remove the shipping clip (it s bright yellow to help you remember). 4. Surelock will automatically snap into place when the blade and slot are aligned. 5. To readjust at a later date, simply pull the blade down to disengage it from the slot, replace plastic shipping clip and rotate the pin. Worked examples Clear opening size 24 high x 40 wide (L), and a 3L x 2R arrangement W = 40-14 - (4 x (5-1)) 5 W = 834 mm Check against your door layout: L = 2(7.0) + 4(4) + 5(834) = 40 (OK) The panel height is the opening height less the nominal top and bottom clearances: Panel height H = 24-5 - 10-2410 mm **Note: For even sets, e.g. 2L2R or 4L2R, the meeting gap would be larger - double seals are used to close the gap. W = L - 14 - (4 x N) N 1 2 3 4 5 5 10 Sales and Technical Support Tel: 01788 548855 (all regions) Tel: 08 418 2435 (London region) Section 175

Fittings for Sliding Stacking Partitions System Selector and Panel Configuration Layouts Hawa Selecting the sliding stacking system that is most suitable for your application is a two stage process: Firstly decide which system achieves the result you are looking for, by reference to the door panel material to be used, the door panel weight and the visual appearance being sought. The product selector below will enable this decision to be taken. Secondly decide which panel configuration layout you require with reference to the examples given below and on the following page Panel Material Metal/Timber Frameless Glass Panel Weight Panel Weight up to 60 kg 60 to 150 kg 150 to 400 kg up to 60 kg up to 150 kg 150 to 400 kg System Aperto 60/H System Variotec 150/H System Separo 400/H System Aperto 60/GL Patch Fittings System Shopfront 400/G Yes No Please see pages 6-221 for full descriptions and details of the individual systems indicated System Cornertec 150/GV Yes Full Aluminium Frame No System Variotec 150/GR System Variotec 150/GV Please note: All of the different systems indicated in the product selector are capable of achieving all of the panel configuration layouts detailed below: Type 98/99 Two or more panels form a flush partition when all are in the fully closed position (a) To open, one of the panels slides backwards and then across, coming to rest behind/in front of one of the other panels which is fixed Please note the sliding panel can only move in one direction - left or right A minimum of four panels form a flush partition when all are in the fully closed position (b) To open, the two inner panels slide backwards and then across, one to the left and one to the right where they come to rest behind/in front of the respective left and right outer panels which are fixed Type 100/101 Two panels form a flush partition when both are in the fully closed position (c) To open, one panel slides backwards and across (1) and the other simply slides across (2), so that a stack of two panels is formed, perhaps inside a wall cavity, completely clear of the line of the opening, when both panels are in the fully open position Three panels form a flush partition when all are in the fully closed position (d) To open, the first panel (1) slides forwards and across, the second panel (2) slides backwards and across, and the third panel (3) simply slides across.
