Sunday Plus Child Discipleship Model It takes a church to raise a child Deuteronomy 6 PURPOSE Through intentional, individual child discipleship a child will receive Jesus Christ as his personal Savior, surrender to Christ s Lordship in his daily life and the Church becomes essential to his life leading to a Christ changed, hope-filled, productive adult. OBJECTIVES Curriculum is Gospel centered. God s Word is taught so kids are able to internalize the Truth. Individual child discipleship - Provide each kid a discipler who walks through life with him. Intentional ministry with each child - Written discipleship plan for each child. Create an environment which produces loving relationships with peers and adults. Through participation and relationships the Church becomes essential in the child s life. Provide a whole-istic ministry spiritual, mental, emotional, physical and social. - E.G. Banking system set up to train kids in Biblical worldview of money. Emphasize it being the responsibility of the entire Body of Christ to participate in the discipleship of children. - Train parents to disciple their own children and also reach out to minister to other children. - Equip the Church to serve together to raise up the next generation of Christ followers. SUNDAY Kids Bible Focus Nook Designed to be a 20-minute, planned hands-on experience which can be joined in progress and makes kids feel comfortable. Reality Check Designed to be a 10-20 minute concrete experience which introduces the concept to be taught and leads to the kids internalizing God s truths. Hearing The Word The Word of God brought alive to the kids. Chat N Chew A time for Discipler and kids to wrestle with God s truth. Crafts As kids work with their hands the adults carry on a guided conversation pertaining to the day s Biblical truth. Kids Corporate Worship Nook Designed to be a 20-minute, planned hands-on experience which can be joined in progress and makes kids feel comfortable. Worship Through Music Introduces kids to a variety of music from hymns to kids hand-motion songs. Worship Through Liturgy Opportunity for kids to learn and experience corporate worship each church chooses the liturgy elements that they use Worship Through The Word Biblical concept is presented in a modern day skit. Discipleship Time In Trek Teams Disciplers and Kids wrestle with God s truth. Worship Through Recreation God created kids to be active kids learn that biblical truths apply to all aspects of life. The Shema Focus (A Parenting Class could be Sunday or Midweek) Connecting Parents share the joys and struggles of applying the previous week Biblical concept. Digging Into The Word Parents study the same scripture and Biblical concepts as their children. Prayer In groups of three, women with women and men with men they pray. WEEKDAY Kids Weekday Celebration NOOK Designed to be a 20-minute, planned hands-on experience which can be joined in progress and makes kids feel comfortable. CELEBRATE IN REVIEW In Trek Teams kids who were in Kids Bible Focus and/or Kids Corporate Worship on Sunday are challenged in various ways (e.g. who do you know that needs to know this Biblical truth? Tell us what you would tell that person.) to retell Sunday s story and Biblical truth. CELEBBRATE GOD S WORD WITHIN ME A fun memory verse game. CELEBRATE TRUTH OR DESIRE In Trek Teams kids tell a story of how they have applied the week s Biblical concept. The other kids then vote on if it is a Truth or Desire. TRUTH is something the kid has actually done, DESIRE is what he wishes he has done. CELEBRATE IN RECREATION A fun game is used as a teaching tool; a time for kids to be kids. Family Discipleship Family Time Based on the week s Biblical concept a take-home curriculum is given parents each week for a fun family growing, time. Included is an activity and suggestions for guided conversation. SPIRIT MOMENTS A parent alert is given of how the Holy Spirit might provide teachable moments throughout the week for parents to use in the discipleship of their children. Parenting Tips Parenting Tips which fits with the Biblical concept of the week are written by Wanda Parker, Founder/Director of KidTrek, from her experience as a Children s/family Pastor, but more importantly from raising three children who today have their own families all of whom walk with the Lord. After-school Outreach When a church has its own Children s Ministry intentionally and individualistically discipling their own children KidTrek will equip the church to reach out to at-risk kids in their community.
