This phone is a low-power reception and transmission device. It has been designed in such a way as not to exceed the limits of exposure to radio waves recommended by international guidelines, which have been developed by the independent scientific organisation ICNIRP and provide for a series of safety measures destined to protect all users, regardless of their age and health conditions. The Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) is the unit that measures the power of the radio frequencies absorbed by the body while a device is being used. The SAR value is determined on the basis of the maximum power level observed during laboratory tests. The effective SAR level reached during normal 14

use of the device may be lower, because the device is designed to function at the minimum power level required for connection to the network. The SAR limit value adopted by the European Union is 2 W/kg over 10 grammes of tissue. In this case, the maximum SAR value for this type of device is 0.85 W/kg for use at the ear, and 0.749 when carried close to the body. Information on disposal and recycling This symbol on the device (and on the batteries it includes) indicates that it cannot be disposed of as normal household waste. Do not dispose of the device or the batteries together with unsorted urban waste. At the end of their useful life, the device and the batteries must be taken to a certified collection point for recycling or appropriate disposal. For further information on recycling the device or the batteries, contact your local municipal council offices, the household waste disposal service or the sales outlet where the device was purchased. The European Union s Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive governs the activities concerning the disposal of this type of devices. To reduce to a minimum the potential environmental impact on health due to the hazardous substances contained in them, WEEE and batteries must be disposed of separately from other waste. Reduction of hazardous substances This device complies with the European Union regulation governing the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction (REACH) of chemical substances (regulation no. 1907/2006/CE of the 15

Parliament and the Council of Europe) and the EU Directive on Restrictions on Hazardous Substances (RoHS) (Directive 2002/95/CE of the Parliament and the Council of Europe).
