Omron, the company that introduced the industry s first mid-sized PLC, is introducing another product that will redefine PLC classifications. The NEW CJ1 series of controllers is designed to deliver BIG PLC performance from a product the size of the smallest micro controllers on the market, requiring only 60 to 40% of the panel space of traditional mid-size PLCs. With processor speeds and I/O counts exceeding the performance of mid and large rack controllers, the CJ1 allows for compact machines that provide the highest level of control possible. The CJ1 modules are each roughly the size of a deck of playing cards and connect module-to-module using simple locking connectors, eliminating the need for a bulky PLC rack. The lightning quick PC21 bus, designed for Omron s technology-leading mid-sized CS1, provides high-speed communication from the CJ1 CPU to individual modules. The CJ1 also includes the communication options generally associated with larger PLC platforms, leveraging Omron s FINS protocol to transparently tie Ethernet, Controller Link, serial, and device level networks together for data exchange and programming. Program the CJ1 using Omron s CX-Programmer, which support the entire Omron PLC product line. The new, compact CJ1 PLC is now available from stock. A mid-size PLC in a micro-sized package 40% smaller than typical mid-size PLCs: Free up panel space without sacrificing performance! Processor speeds ranging from 80 Nanoseconds to as low as 20 Nanoseconds per basic instruction Ethernet, DeviceNet and Controllerlink communications Industry leading networking: Omron s FINS protocol routes data across networks Control up to 2560 I/O: Typical of the mid-sized PLC category Fully compatible with Omron s CX-Programmer Software Rackless design eliminates the need for a PLC rack, simplifying configuration and lowering system costs Flash Memory Cards up to 48 MB for easy program transfer and data storage

Comparison to CS-series PCs The CS-series and CJ-series PCs use the same architecture and are basically the same in terms of program structure (tasks), instruction system, I/O memory, and other functionality. They do differ, however in that the CJ-series PCs have a different Unit structure, support different Units, do not support Inner Boards, have different Expansion Racks, have a different I/O allocation method, etc. These differences are outlined in the following table. CJ1 CS-Series Dimensions: Height x width 90 X 65 mm 130 X 123 mm Unit connections Connected to each other via connectors. Mounted to Backplanes. CJ1 PLC CS-Series PLC Registered I/O tables Support Supported (but operation is possible Supported (must be created from without creating I/O tables from a Programming Device). Programming Device). Modes Either user-set I/O tables or automatic Only user-specified I/O tables ( I/O I/O allocation at startup (no I/O table tables can be verified against actual I/O) verification). The default setting is for Automatic I/O Allocation at Startup. User-set I/O tables can be automatically used by setting and transferring I/O tables (or parameter file). If the I/O tables are deleted from a CPU Unit from the CX-Programmer, Automatic I/O Allocation at Startup will be used again. Allocating unused Possible only by using user-set I/O Always possible.(set by editing I/O words tables (i.e., creating I/O tables with tables on the CX-Programmer and unused words allocated on the transferring them to the CPU Unit.) I/O verify error occurs (non-fatal error). and actual I/O (Without Backplanes and due to the physical connection method, it is essentially impossible for a Unit to fall off or for an empty position to be created. Discrepancies between the registered I/O tables and actual I/O are thus considered to be far more serious.) Setting first word on each Rack Supported. Supported.
