When disposing of the product, reduce dust with water spray, ensure that parts are securey wrapped. WARNING: WE ARE REQUIRED, BY THE REGULATIONS, TO ADVISE THAT CHILDREN SHOULD BE DISCOURAGED FROM TOUCHING THE HOT SURFACES OF THE APPLIANCE. YOUR AGA COOKER However for the most effective operation of the cooker the foowing points shoud be carefuy observed: Your AGA is an eectric, heat-storage storage cooker. The cooker heater core accepts an eectrica power charge overnight to heat the core up to 725 C, whereupon heat is reeased at a controed rate to keep the cooker temperature steady when it is not in use. A compete overnight charge provides sufficient heat for norma cooking at any time of the day. 1. Cose the insuating ids whenever the hot pates are not in use. 2. Cook as much as possibe in the ovens. 3. Utensis with ground fat bases must be used to make perfect contact with the hotpates. 4. Take care, when cosing the oven doors, to ift them onto the catch. 5. Cean the hot pates reguary with the wire brush. DESN 510979 03/12 EOPI 511093

Fig. 1 Contro Pane DESN 510398 Your AGA is suppied with the foowing accessories: 1. Large roasting tin with gri rack. 1. Haf-size roasting tin with gri rack. 2. Oven Grid Sheves. 1. Pain Shef. 1. Wire Brush 1. Toaster 1. AGA Book A fu description of cooking with your AGA is given in the AGA Book. For power suppy see tabe beow:- VOLTAGE SUPPLY POWER 1PH 230V - 50Hz 5.5kW CURRENT (AMPS) 23.4A TELE-SWITCHING CURRENT ELECTRICAL SUPPLY 2AMP Cheap rate (CR) period (s) are to be controed by Teeswitch Operation (as recommended by AGA) or by externa Programmabe Timer. Teeswitching requires no manua operation or time setting by the Instaer or User. If an externa Programmabe Timer is to be fitted the Instaer is to determine oca (CR) Tariff period(s) and to set the time accordingy. It is the responsibiity of the instaer to suppy detais of the Timer and advise if it becomes necessary for any reason to reset. CHARGING PERIODS Your cooker has been designed to accept power charges at the preferentia cost rate. On reaching temperature no further power wi pass to the cooker at this preferentia rate. An 7 hour charge in each 24 hours is normay sufficient for most cooking needs, but in the event of abnorma cooking oads the cooker can be adopted for use with most TARIFF periods and Eectrica suppies. Depending on the suppy avaiabe, the cooker wi automaticay take a charge if the Core Temperature drops beow 375 C unti 375 C is restored. (This is indicated by the red LED pusing). If there is any doubt as to the appication of the suppy avaiabe, your AGA distributor wi advise. 2

THE HEAT INDICATOR Fig. 2 DESN 515920 The heat indicator above the Roasting oven door is a guide to the stored heat within the AGA, and does not directy reate to the Roasting oven centre oven temperature. It has 3 sections back, siver and red. To obtain your preferred working temperature the contro knob can be adjusted sighty. Once set it is not recommended to adjust on a reguar basis. An AGA is designed to work at an optimum setting. The optimum performance is usuay achieved when the indicator is showing a position within one of the back segments in the siver area. Since the purpose of the heat indicator is to show that the AGA contains the fu amount of stored heat it is best to refer to it first thing in the morning or after a period of severa hours during which no cooking has been done. NOTE: IT DOES NOT INDICATE THE OVEN TEMPERATURE. 3

CONTROL PANEL SERVICING Within the rear, right-hand top pate shroud, there are the foowing contros (See Fig. 1): 1. Power on Indicator Shows that power is on to the cooker. This does not indicate that the cooker is charging. 2. Charge Avaiabe Indicator In norma operation the L.E.D. wi gow red when Cheap Rate tariff is avaiabe. (The cooker is not necessariy charging over the whoe of this period). 3. Oven Vent Fan Switch and Indicator This manuay operated switch iuminates red when its depressed. It activates the oven vent extraction fan (where fitted) which removes most of the oven cooking smes and transfers them outside. When cooking is finished, depress the switch again, the vent fan wi continue to run for 5 min before stopping. Overnight cooking in the bottom Simmering Oven may or may not require oven venting. Such cooking with the fan ON, wi provide a sighty reduced Simmering Oven temperature, than with the fan OFF. 4. Oven Temperature Contro The setting of the contro knob at No. 4 ensures that the cooker runs at the correct temperature, with the heat indicator on or about the back ine in the siver section of the heat indicator. Set at No. 4 the contro wi operate automaticay to maintain the cooker at its correct temperature and need not be atered. When cooking, a fa in Roasting Oven temperature wi automaticay switch ON a fan which circuates a stream of air through the core extracting heat and transferring it to the hotpates and ovens unti the correct oven temperature is re-estabished. We recommend that an annua inspection check is carried out by your AGA Distributor to ensure that your cooker continues to operate safey and efficienty. Your Distributor wi be peased to make the necessary arrangements with you. The foowing points are intended to hep you during the period of change-over from your previous cooker to the AGA way of ife. You wi aso find that the AGA Book provides a very usefu introduction to the cooker. After your AGA has been instaed With the power switched ON, the cooker wi graduay heat up, and during this process some smes and fumes wi be driven off from the interna cooker insuation, which wi continue for some hours unti finay dissipated. To minimise this initia inconvenience, the kitchen area shoud be continuousy window-vented throughout this period and you are advised to avoid entering this area if possibe, unti finay cear of smes. There wi aso be a itte protective oi burning off the hotpates. If you can wipe the inside of the hotpate ids whist the AGA is heating up it wi avoid a fim of this oi being deposited on the inside of the ids. Aso, condensation may occur on the top-pate and frontpate whist the AGA is heating up. This shoud be wiped away as soon as possibe. Beginning to Cook on your AGA OPERATING YOUR AGA The first "Goden Rue" of the AGA is to cook as much as possibe in the ovens - without changing your menus. This not ony conserves heat but aso reduces cooking smes and condensation into the kitchen. The Roasting Oven can aso be used for griing (at the top) and shaow frying (on the bottom). Do keep the insuated ids down when the hotpates are not in use so that the heat stored in the cooker is conserved. For the optimum cooking performance, use the Aga cast-iron cookware. They a have thick ground bases which give the best contact with the hotpates. The Simmering Oven is especiay usefu for steaming vegetabes and simmering sauces. The AGA pans can be stacked in the Simmering Oven. 4

Store the Pain Shef out of the AGA. Use it, cod, in the Roasting Oven on a 2 oven AGA to defect the heat from the top of the oven thus creating a more moderate oven temperature. It can aso be used as a baking sheet. The AGA Cake Baker can be used in the 2 oven AGA for cakes needing over 45 minutes cooking. Ovens and Hotpates The cast-iron ovens hep to keep themseves cean; they merey need to be brushed out occasionay with a onghanded stiff brush. The Simmering and Pate Warming Ovens on the 4 oven AGA may be ceaned with a damp, soapy coth. The wire brush is provided for ceaning the hot pates and any burnt-on spis in the cast iron ovens. Ask your Distributor for an invitation to an AGA demonstration. A guide to AGA cooking is given overeaf. CLEANING AND CARING FOR YOUR AGA REMEMBER: BE CAREFUL OF THE HOT APPLIANCE. DO NOT USE ABRASIVE PADS OR OVEN CLEANER. DO NOT USE A STEAM CLEANER TO CLEAN THIS COOKER. AGA Ename Ceaner and AGA Chrome and Stainess Stee Ceaner are recommended. Top-pate and Front-pate The easiest way to cean the AGA top-pate and frontpate is to mop up spis as they happen. Baked-on food is more difficut to cean but can usuay be removed with proprietary vitreous ename ceaners or mid cream ceaners using a coth or, if necessary, a nyon scouring pad. If mik or fruit juice, or anything containing acid, is spit on the AGA, wipe it up immediatey. Aso cean off any condensation streaks on the frontpate around the oven doors or the vitreous ename maybe permanenty discooured. Roasting Tins The roasting tins shoud be ceaned in hot, soapy water, soak if necessary, a nyon scouring pad can be used. DO NOT pace in the dishwasher or use other caustic ceaners. DO NOT USE ANY OVEN CLEANERS. NOTE: IF THERE IS CAUSE TO ISOLATE THE COOKER, SWITCH OFF AT THE MAIN ISOLATORS. IMPORTANT AGA recommend Vitreous Ename Association approved ceaners for ceaning the vitreous enameed surfaces of this product. But it is unsuitabe for use on: chrome and stainess stee components, incuding the insuating covers, handrais and their brackets. The insuating covers shoud be ceaned reguary with a NON-ABRASIVE mid detergent, appied with a soft (coarse free) coth and ighty poished up afterwards with a soft (coarse free) duster or tissue, to bring it back to its origina ustre. A that is usuay needed to keep the vitreous enameed surfaces of your AGA bright and cean is a daiy rub over with a damp, soapy coth foowed immediatey with a cean, dry coth to avoid streaks. Remember the top-pate and the chrome ids wi scratch if pans or utensis are dragged across them. Insuating Lids and Oven Doors The inings of the insuating ids and oven doors may be ceaned with a cream ceanser or a soap impregnated pad. Open the ids and ift off the oven doors to aow them to coo a itte before ceaning. Do not, however, immerse the doors in water as they are packed with insuating materia which wi be damaged by excessive moisture. Refer aso to the Ceaning Section in the AGA Book. 5
