FINNAIR'S NEW BAGGAGE POLICY Effective on and after July 2 nd, 2013 Checked baggage allowance varies depending on the class of travel and ticket type. The number of items allowed free of is marked on the ticket. If booking includes flights on an airline other than Finnair, baggage allowance may differ from the Finnair allowances shown. Finnair applies IATA Reso 302 which determines the airline whose carrier s baggage rules and excess s apply for any given itinerary. SIZE AND WEIGHT OF A STANDARD BAGGAGE Size of a standard bag: the total length+width+height of each item must not exceed 158 cm (62 in), including strap, pocket and wheels (expect for certain special baggage). Weight of a standard bag: Each item has a free maximum weight of 23 kg (51 lbs). If the item exceeds 23 kg and weighs up to a maximum of 32 kg, an excess baggage may apply. CHARGES FOR EXTRA BAGGAGE Any baggage carried in addition to the free checked baggage allowance may be subject to an extra bag. Baggage allowance can be increased by purchasing extra bags for the ticket online via MyBooking which is cheaper than paying for extra bags at the airport. Any bag that is larger or heavier than standard bag may incur an excess baggage, payable only at the airport. Maximum weight for one piece is 32 kg (70 lbs). Certain special baggage items such as mobility aids, musical instruments, sports equipment, beyond 32 kg may be accepted when prior approval obtained from carrier. Maximum size for one piece: Larger items of up to 190cm x 75cm x 65cm (75in x 29.5in x 25.5in) can be carried for an additional over-sized bag. Any items larger than this will require separate shipping as cargo. For more information see SPECIAL BAGGAGE below. Maximum number of bags: Customers may take up to 10 additional bags with the same weight and size restrictions as their baggage allowance. In case sporting item exceeds the standard allowance or size, excess baggage may apply. Heavy bag and oversized bag s are equivalent but not cumulative thus an item which is heavy and oversized is d only one excess fee. In case this item is also in addition to the number of free baggage allowance, an extra bag will be also collected. Golf, ski and water sports equipment (wake and surf boards excluding wind surfing equipment) up to 190 cm of length are considered as standard bags up to 23 kg (51lb). If in excess to these measures, SR SPEQ request is needed and a heavy/oversized rate applies. Bikes If a bike is packed to fit into the standard baggage weight and size, normal excess s apply if in excess to the normal baggage allowance (e.g. foldable boat deck bikes). If package is in excess to standard measures, SR BIKE request is needed and a fixed rate of EUR75, one way shall be collected regardless of the destination. For tandem bikes EUR150,.
Musical instruments 1. As check-in baggage musical instrument must be packed in a hard case. The standard excess baggage fees apply if in excess to the free baggage allowance. If in excess to the standard bag size, a heavy/oversize rate is collected. 2. As carry-on baggage Small musical instruments may be carried onboard the aircraft providing they meet existing carry-on size requirements and fit in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of the customer. We recommend all musical instruments travel in a hard-sided case in the event the item needs to be checked into the hold. Case dimensions may not exceed 115 cm/45 in (width + length + height), except for guitars which may be brought on board only if they can be safely stowed in an overhead bin or approved stowage location in the cabin. The instrument is considered the passenger's one allowed carry-on bag. A personal item is allowed in addition to the instrument. 3. As CBBG on seat. If an instrument is too large to fit in the carry-on baggage space, an additional seat may be purchased and SR CBBG request is needed. Firearms and ammunition A firearm case may contain maximum 2 rifles or shotguns (long arm) or 5 guns (short arm). A handling fee of EUR 25 per firearm case is always collected and SR request is based on nbr of cases. Firearms must be unloaded, dismantled and packed in suitable closed containers. Ammunition (max 5 kg/11lb per customer) will only be carried in the aircraft as checked baggage. Ammunition shall be properly labeled and identified, with the knowledge of the carrier or carriers, duly packed in wooden, metal or pressed cardboard boxes to protect them from any knocks or movement. Fire arms and ammunition must be packed in different containers. WCH and other Mobility aids of PRM customers Customer may carry wheelchairs and other mobility aids (e.g. bag of spare tires for wheelchair, shower chairs, special mattresses) free of. SR request of relevant WCH info is needed. Other Special Baggage Other sports/special equipment is also generally considered regular pieces of check-in baggage if they are under the maximum size and weight. In the case of excess weight or size, excess baggage fees apply and SR SPEQ request is needed in the PNR. For wind surfing equipment, kayaks and canoes a fixed rate of EUR150, is always collected. In such cases the most generous allowance of the two tickets will be honored compared to customer's baggage at the time of check in, e.g. customer has 20kg in one ticket and 1PC in the other ticket and he has 2 bags total 20 kg. In this case customer can be through checked and bags tagged to final destination and the more generous allowance would be to honor the 20 kg for the whole checked portion. AJB TICKET POLICY In addition to the oneworld benefit above AJB carriers offer their customers a benefit of the most generous allowance in the ticket e.g. if customer flies in different travel classes outbound/inbound, the most generous allowance in the ticket shall be honored. BAGGAGE POLICY AT CHECK-IN on and after July 2, 2013 Each individual weight of the baggage shall be inserted into the system If customer has paid for excess baggage in advance, the EMD is visible in Customer Record and in PNR. If no information about pre-payment is found, customer shall present a receipt. The pre-payment is non-refundable. If tour operator customer has paid excess baggage in advance, customer should have a receipt of the prepaid excess. WHAT IS NO LONGER DONE? Pooling of baggage is not allowed. Each bag has a maximum standard weight and size and if in excess, an excess may apply 1. Two customers travel together in class having 1PC baggage allowance each in their ticket. They check in 1 bag 28 kg. Heavy bag shall be collected for the bag weighing over 23 kg. 2.
