Aims: The use of word processing techniques in the office and in the enterprise is usually limited to the very basic issues which are used daily. User expertise seems to be very limited when it comes to the use of the advanced features of word processing applications. The purpose of the program is to provide participants with effective and adequate knowledge in the use of word processing applications like MS Word. This course based on the syllabus of the ECDL Advanced Word Processing module of the European Computer Driving License Foundation considers the advanced and important tasks and issues pertaining to the use, manipulation and publication of reports and uncovers the potential of advanced word processing techniques in the increase of short-term and long-term productivity in the office and the organization. This course also prepares participants to optionally sit the examination for ECDL Advanced Word Processing. 10. Objectives: By the end of the program, participants should be able to be competent in using the advanced features of a word processing application such as MS Word in the following areas: Understand and explain the structure and potential content of documents in word processing applications Organize documents effectively Create and use styles Understand and use layouts Understand and use the various elements of a document such as text boxes, forms etc Exploit the use of mail merging and collaborative working Design and create macros Enhance printing capabilities 11. Attendees Profile This course is suitable for: Trainers, instructors and IT Teachers who offer training on tools relating to word processing such as MS Word Office administrators and supervisors who wish to learn the insights of advanced techniques in word processing Experienced office personnel who work with word processing applications on a daily basis 12. Methods of Training The course gives maximum understanding in the shortest possible time. It combines formalised lectures, open forum discussions, question and answer sessions, reviews and recaps, case studies and group-work. All lectures will be supplemented by computerbased presentations via a video projector connected to a laptop.

13. Training Means & Equipment The use of PC and laptop equipment, the video projector, the training materials and notes accompanying the lectures facilitate rapid learning. If required, the available overhead projector and flip charts will be used. 14. Attendance Recording System A record of attendance will be maintained. All attendees will sign the attendance sheet every day. The instructor will ensure that all participants are present every time participants return from the scheduled breaks. 15. Evaluation System Upon completion of the course an evaluation form will be handed out to all participants through which they will evaluate various aspects of the training course relating to the content, the instructor, the organization, the venue etc. Participants may opt not to declare their names on the form so that they can be as objective as possible. The feedback gathered will be reviewed and monitored so that corrective action is taken in case participants recommend improvements or indicate any problems that may have appeared during the course. 16. Please note that the qualifications of the instructor combines formal university degrees and extensive industrial experience. Certification of Training At the end of the course, all attendees who fulfil the attendance criteria of 75% will receive a standard Cyprus Computer Society endorsement and attendance certificate.
