BA Joint Honours Full-Time () from Stage 1 to Stage 2 Archaeology (ARCH) Straightforward progression students may progress with Archaeology in Stage 2 having passed any two Archaeology modules offered in Stage 1. Art History (AH) Students may progress with Art History in Stage 2 having passed AH 10040 Tools of Art History and one other Art History module offered in Stage 1. Celtic Civilisation (CCIV) Straightforward progression students may progress with Celtic Civilisation in Stage 2 having passed any modules offered in the Celtic Civilisation structure in Stage 1. Economics (ECON) Students may progress with Economics in Stage 2 having passed ECON 10010 Principles of Microeconomics and ECON10030 Introduction to Quantitative Economics. Please note: ECON 10020 Principles of Macroeconomics is a compulsory module and must be passed prior to degree completion. Students are strongly recommended to pass ECON10020 during Stage 1.

English (ENG) In order to progress with English in Stage 2, students must have passed the two core English modules offered in Stage 1: students who wish to progress must have passed ENG 10050 Literature in Context 1 and ENG 10060 Literature in Context 2. French & Francophone Studies (FR) Students may progress with French in Stage 2 having passed two modules in French offered at Stage 1. Students wishing to progress must have passed FR10070 French Grammar and Expression plus one other French module offered in Stage 1. Geography (GEOG) Straightforward progression students may progress with Geography in Stage 2 having passed any two Geography modules offered in Stage 1. German (GER) FOR BEGINNERS: Students wishing to progress with German in Stage 2 must have passed GER 10100 German Beginners A and GER 10110 German Beginners B. FOR NON-BEGINNERS: Students wishing to progress in German in Stage 2 must have passed GER 10020 German Language Ib plus one other German module offered in Stage 1. Greek Mode B (GRK) Students wishing to progress to Stage 2 are required to have passed the 10 credit core module GRK 10090.

Greek and Roman Civilisation (GRC) Straightforward progression students may progress with Greek and Roman Civilisation in Stage 2 having passed any two Greek and Roman Civilisation modules offered in Stage 1. History (HIS) Straightforward progression students may progress with History in Stage 2 having passed any two History modules offered in Stage 1. Information and Library Studies (ILS) Special Note (30 credits) Yes Straightforward progression students may progress with Information and Library Studies in Stage 2 having passed any two of the Information and Social Computing modules offered in Stage 1. This is a special joint major in that you MUST take 30 credits from the Information and Library Studies Programme and not the usual minimum 25 credits. Information and Social Computing (IS) (50credits) Straightforward progression students may progress with Information and Social Computing in Stage 2 having passed any two of the Information and Social Computing modules offered in Stage 1.

Irish Folklore (IRFL) Students may progress with Irish Folklore in Stage 2 having passed both core Irish Folklore modules offered in Stage 1. Irish Studies (IRST) Students may progress with Irish Studies in Stage 2 having passed both core Irish Studies modules offered in Stage 1. Italian Studies (ITAL) Students may progress with Italian in Stage 2 having passed two modules in Italian offered in Stage 1. Students wishing to progress must have passed ITAL10030 Italian Language 1b plus one other Italian module offered in Stage 1. Latin Mode A (LAT) In order to progress to Stage 2, students must have passed the ten-credit core module LAT20140 Intermediate Latin offered in Stage 1. Latin Mode B (LAT) Students wishing to progress to Stage 2 are required to have passed the 10 credit core module LAT 10090

Linguistics (LING) Students may progress with Linguistics in Stage 2 having passed any two modules offered in Linguistics in Stage 1 *Please note: students are advised to take LING 10040 Words and Sentences to avail of all possible options in Stage 2. Please contact the School of Languages, Cultures and Linguistics for further information. Mathematical Studies (MST) Students may progress with Mathematical Studies in Stage 2 having passed MST 10010 Calculus I and MST 10030 Linear Algebra I offered in Stage 1. It is strongly recommended that students take all four Level 1 modules offered in Stage 1. Modern Irish (IR) Students may progress with Modern Irish in Stage 2 having passed IR 10040 Teanga Na Gaeilge plus one other Level 1 Modern Irish module offered in Stage 1. Music (MUS) Special Note Students interested in this option should Yes contact the School of Music for information on transferring to the BMus after Stage 1. Students may progress with Music in Stage 2 having MUS 10160 Music Theory and Musicianship I and MUS 10170 Music Theory and Musicianship II offered in Stage 1. Please note: students will be required to pass all four Level 1 Music modules offered in Stage 1 prior to degree completion. Music CANNOT be taken as a Minor. Therefore you cannot graduate with a /Minor classification where Music is the Minor component.

Philosophy (PHIL) Straightforward progression students may progress with Philosophy in Stage 2 having passed any two Philosophy modules offered in Stage 1. Politics (POL) Students wishing to take up Politics at Stage 2 must have passed INRL10010 and POL10160. Portuguese (PORT) No No Portuguese can only be taken as electives after Stage 1 subject to the University policy on elective provision. Psychology (PSY) No No Psychology can only be taken as electives after Stage 1 subject to the University policy on elective provision. Sociology (SOC) Students may progress with Sociology in Stage 2 having passed any two of the Sociology modules offered in Stage 1. Please note: SOC 10010 Foundations of Sociological Thought is a compulsory module and must be passed prior to degree completion.

Spanish (SPAN) FOR BEGINNERS: Students who wish to progress with Spanish in Stage 2 must have passed SPAN10140 Intensive ab initio Spanish 1a and SPAN10150 Intensive ab initio Spanish 1 b. FOR NON-BEGINNERS: Students may progress with Spanish in Stage 2 having passed two modules in Spanish offered in Stage 1. Students who wish to progress must have passed SPAN10050 Spanish Language 1b and one other Spanish module offered in Stage 1. Statistics (STAT) Students who wish to progress with Statistics in Stage 2 must have passed STAT 10050 Intro to Statistical Modelling and STAT 10060 Statistical Modelling in Stage 1.
