Advances in Flow Computing Workshop on advanced flow computing and intelligent, on-site supervisory functions in flow computing The SUMMIT 8800 has revolutionised flow computing. It is a fusion of conventional flow computation with a modern-day touch-screen user interface. It takes the computer data and adds intelligence. It allows you to log, trend, supervise, monitor, interpret, and much more. Your metering point tells you more. KROHNE Academy puts this information at your fingertips. In a 3 ½ day workshop you will revisit the basics of traditional flow computers, go beyond their barriers. You will learn how to customise your SUMMIT 8800 to obtain process information, how it works alone and can seamlessly fit into an exiting infrastructure. KROHNE Academy is about using the SUMMIT 8800 in a real-life environment and it also focusses on system integration. Starting with the common aspects of flow computing, it quickly addresses oil and gas specifics. This is a well-structured training with quality presentations held in a professional environment by experts in their field. All training materials will be provided during the course on a USB stick and will be made available after the course in a dedicated website. Access to the experts is guaranteed by online link and a forum function, as well as personal emails. Certification is presented at the end of the course. And, refresher modules are available online. Lunch, refreshments (hot/cold drinks) provided. Participants will be responsible for travel and accommodation, although we recommend everyone stays in the same hotel. SUMMIT 8800

Modular Curriculum SUMMIT 8800 is modular and can do so much, that it will always fulfil the user s needs. Our curriculum is likewise structured in modules so you can mix-and-match the course content to your interests. Each participant will have their own SUMMIT 8800. We ask each participant to bring their own laptop to access additional services via the internet. We will create a personalised curriculum for each group of participants, and give them access to a website which will contain course materials and further information. Each participant will receive a Certificate of Attendance with a complete summary of the topics covered. The quality of a workshop depends to a large extent on the structure and content, as well as the preparation by the tutors. Learning the various modules including the power supply unit, auxiliary board, fuses, and additional SD storage. 2. Terminal connections & LEDs and warnings Selecting the correct security and operational modes, understanding the LED warnings on the front panel and terminal wiring connections for all inputs, outputs, and communication for field instruments, connections to printers and supervisory systems. 3. Configuration software The installation of the software and users on a local PC. Explanation of the files and folders created along with their locations. Going through the three main programmes available and highlighting their usefulness. 4. Software overview Learning the functions of the software, how to edit a configuration offline, as well as establishing connection to a SUMMIT flow computer via USB and over a network. Importing and exporting files, using the built-in scripting and diagnostics for troubleshooting and power/memory consumption. 5. Parameters, variables and folders The selection of correct parameters in the associated folders for required functions and their corresponding access permission levels. Understanding how to assign processes and how to use the data in the desired function. Learning the visual representation of each data variable and how it corresponds to each built in aspect of the flow computer.

6. Input and output assignments and calibration Learning how to assign inputs and outputs with the relevant signal type for field instruments, printers, network connections, GCs, PLCs, etc., at the hardware level along with alarm levels and limits. Calibrating I/Os and scaling of variables from the front panel of the flow computer and also using the software tool. 7. Display screens Learning how to create customised displays: defining menus and sub-menus, pages, diagrams and graphs based on live variables. Having the ability to create a supervisory system and populating of data menus. Understanding the difference between edit and supervisor mode; creating user permitted screens for data entry and access to user specific parameters. 8. Alarms, audit trails, data logging How to create logs, audits and how to find the associated variables/parameters. Defining the frequency, interval of monitoring and logging the data type including how to acknowledge, clear and print alarm reports. 9. Communication and reports Going through the various protocols, learning how to establish communication to field instruments, how to retrieve reports via serial and Ethernet connections. Advance configuration to network including remote access, ereports, printing and e-mails. Report generation and setup design for CT printers, FTP network printers, SMTP e-mails and XML. 10. Generic configuration The general set-up of the flow computer with common functions but also understanding how to define data format, creation of ID reports, audit logs and custom strings which can be used to display any required text. Putting the flow computer into maintenance mode, understanding the built-in redundancy features and watchdog mechanisms for communication and duty-standby. 11. Stream & meter setup Detailed and specific configuration of the meter run which will consist of going through each relevant parameter related to the type of meter being used. Defining limits on flow rates, parameters, fall-backs, calculations and enhanced diagnostics. For each oil and gas application, focus will be made on density selections, units, corresponding constants, and options which will customise each stream for optimal measurement. Totalisers and counters options with tariffs and optional scaling will be discussed. 12. Factors, products & linearity Navigating to the product selections identifying how to measure based on the several options available. Optimising the meter based on proving including K-factor and Meter Factor generation. For application specific, tables, and values for GC components, heating values, and configuration of run switching between 5 streams. Looking at diagnostics for meters, flow computer and operations including identifying faults and troubleshooting. 13. Application design Based on the knowledge gained, assignments and application tests where participants will be required to configure a SUMMIT flow computer based on the instructor s instructions. 14. Factory tour A tour of the manufacturing and assembly section where the flow computer is integrated into cabinets with systems consisting of supervisory software, which are used in all our metering systems.

Optional modules in detail 15. Proving and valve control (optional to be requested on registration) Configuration of liquid provers and master meters. Setting of process variables and assigning of parameters relevant to the correct operations of proving. Learning the deviation limits, run times, calculations, and comparison to the flow meter. This module also explains how valve control is related to proving but also how to configure as an individual function for various different flow valves. 16. Prover and Master meter configuration (optional to be requested on registration) The detailed configuration, setup of convential liquid provers and master meters for all applications focusing on repeatability, traceability, accuracy and prove reporting. 17. Liquid sampler (optional requested on registration) The setup of a sampler system based on the various grab methods available including the detailed configuration of the dual cans with alarms and flow limits. 18. Batching (optional, to be requested on registration) Batch control for individual streams and stations. Understanding how to successfully configure the flow computer but also to understand how this function is performed with the system. Going through each parameter and understanding the relationship between all the variables associated to the function to gain the desire effect. 19. Allocation station (optional, to be requested on registration) Development of product allocation station based on the number of streams being used. The selection of units for display and report purposes as well as T&P configuration. 20. Codes & checks (optional, requested on registration) Using the unique optional functions of LUA programming and how company specific tasks can be performed without the need of having to redesign or reconfigure the entire set-up of the flow computer. Learning how to use calculation codes, script checking and FAT checks to test the flow computer and it s configuration saving engineering time and money and illustrating the freedom offered by the SUMMIT 8800 flow computer.
