All hourly rate of a newly qualified journeyperson in that establishment are set by the apprentice s employer, not by the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission. f a collective bargaining agreement (CA) provides for higher rates of pay for apprentices, the provisions of the CA apply. 1. Unless otherwise prescribed, the employer of an apprentice shall pay wages to the apprentice during the first half of the first apprenticeship year at a rate not less than: a) Minimum wage, or b) 40% of the hourly rate of a newly qualified journeyperson in that establishment, whichever is greater. 2. The employer shall increase the wages paid to an apprentice in approximately equal increments at the completion of: a) the first half of each apprenticeship year, and b) each apprenticeship year, and c) during the last half of the final apprenticeship year, pay the apprentice not less than 90% of the hourly rate of a newly qualified journeyperson in that establishment. (*except electricians - note the table below) 3. Exceptions Hairstylist - first six months of employment - not less than minimum wage. During the remainder of apprenticeship, not less than 110% of the minimum wage. Food and everage Person and Guest Services Representative apprentices must be paid at least minimum wage.
