Kitchen extract ventilation Kitchen ventilation systems can only be operated efficiently and hygienically through regular cleaning and ongoing maintenance. At Deep Clean Scotland we can assist you to ensure your kitchen ventilation system is maintained to the standards stipulated by the HVCA and complies with current legislation and guidelines. Access doors at rectangular ductwork comprise rigid mild steel frames to which insulation can be dressed, and an insulated door fixed with quick release cam lock fasteners is secured. Access doors at spiral ductwork comprise rigid double-skin panels curved to suit duct diameter and complete with twin sprung-boss fasteners and sealing gaskets. Our services operate to accommodate your needs. We provide a 24-hour service, which allows us to carry out the clean at a time that suits you. Our friendly team will arrange with you a suitable time for us to visit your premises in order to carry out a survey of the system which will then allow us to prepare our no obligation quotation. A member of our survey team will arrive at your premises with Company Identification Cards and will walk through your system, evaluate any access issues and provide an accurate timescale and cost for completing the work to HVCA TR/19 standards. Prior to commencing the clean, we will take digital photographs of your system. Photographs will also be taken when we complete the cleaning process. Kitchen grease extract ducting and all associated components such as fan units, dampers, turning vanes etc will be cleaned as far as access allows by means of, dry scraping, spray degreaser, wet/dry vacuum, mechanical brushing, hand brushing / wiping & dry steam vapor methods to remove grease and fibrous deposits. Where grease has become carbonized it may be cleaned by means of a specialised chemical treatment Where access allows, we will price to carry out a thorough clean of your duct and extraction system and, should the need arise, we can also supply and install access components throughout the system as required to carry out the cleaning and inspection verification on an initial and ongoing basis. All access components will be fitted and any insulation made good by experienced tradesmen to HVCA DW/144 (1998) The Kitchen extract system presents particular hazards due to the potential for the accumulation of grease. Accumulated grease within an extract system forms a hidden fire risk. Under certain circumstances flames or very high temperature within the duct can ignite grease causing fire to spread rapidly through the system.

Why you need to regularly clean your extract system Legal compliance with the HSE fire safety law The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires those responsible for workplaces to carry out a fire risk assessment of their premises, including grease extract systems, and take action to eliminate - or at least to minimise - risks to the safety of the building's occupants Should the Responsible Person have failed to carry out fire risk assessments or take appropriate action to protect the safety of building occupants, and if a fire causes injury or death, they may be liable to criminal prosecution. Legal compliance with your Insurance Company Insurance companies, who are members of the Association of British Insurers like Norwich Union are now stating in there commercial property policy that Kitchen extract ductwork needs to be inspected internally to check on the build -up of grease deposits and cleaned annually as a minimum, although the exact frequency will depend on the level of usage of the cooking equipment. Failure to comply with the legislation will provide grounds for Insurers to dispute claims in the event of fire. And they may find their property insurance either impossible to obtain, difficult to renew in the future Maintenance Code Compliance The HVCA Guide to Good Practice TR19: Cleanliness of Ventilation Systems 2005 provides the benchmark to maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen extract system. Heavy Use 12-16 hours per day 3 monthly Moderate Use 6-12 hours per day 6 monthly Light Use 2-6 hours per day 12 monthly Operators of kitchen extraction equipment should consider the following points:- Insurance Warranty The association of British Insurers Fire Risk Assessment: Catering Extract Ventilation provides guidance on how to maintain systems to comply with insurance policy warranties and legal requirements. Fire Safety By removing the combustion load, fire safety is greatly enhanced. This is why insurers Loss prevention Council recommends regular cleaning by specialists. Hygiene You can show any inspector that there is no hiding place for pests and germs. Unsightly leakage of liquid grease/oil or back wash of fouled air is avoided. Odour Any smell of rancid grease or food products is controlled. System efficiency improves the containment of kitchen smells. Comfort Clean, efficient extract systems properly draw out heat, steam and fume to improve kitchen working conditions. Reliability Fan breakdown resulting in loss of service and possible fire risk due to over-loading of the fan Impellors or jamming of fan impellors against hardened grease is guarded against.

Grease Filter Laundry Service At Deep Clean Scotland, we place great importance on the regular maintenance and cleaning of canopy filters.
