Vista Upgrade Instructions LE1600 and LS800 Overview The following step-by-step instructions explain how to upgrade your Motion LE1600 or LS800 Tablet PC to the Microsoft Vista operating system. Motion recommends the Business, Enterprise, Home Premium or Ultimate Vista SKUs. Vista Home Basic is not compatible with Tablet PCs because it does not include key tablet features. All Motion LE1600 or LS800 models with at least 512MB of memory will run the core experiences of Windows Vista such as innovations in organizing and finding information, security and reliability. Motion recommends at least 1GB of memory for the best Vista experience. Motion Tablet PCs require qualified memory for proper performance. Please contact Motion at 1-866-MTABLET for a list of qualified memory manufactures. Some features available in premium editions of Windows Vista like the new Windows Aero user interface require advanced or additional hardware. The LE1600 and LS800 cannot be upgraded to meet this specification. Getting Started Required Hardware: Motion LE1600 or LS800 Tablet PC running Microsoft XP Tablet PC 2005 Keyboard USB DVD drive Motion tablet AC power supply Active network connection (wired preferred) 15 GB free hard disk drive space (Vista won t take up this much space, but the installer needs this space to do the upgrade) (Optional) FlexDock / MobileDock Time Section 1: Pre-upgrade Setup - 30 minutes to 1 hour (excluding time for Windows Update) Section 2: Vista Upgrade - 4 hours unattended run time Section 3: Post-upgrade Configuration - 1 hour SECTION 1: Pre-upgrade Setup 1) Boot into Windows under an administrator level account a. The Windows System Assessment Tool (WinSAT) runs a series of tests and rates your tablet on a scale ranging from 1 through 5 (with 1 representing the lowest score). The tool rates several subsets of your computer system, including processor, memory, primary hard disk, graphics, and gaming graphics. Your tablet s WinSAT score is determined by the lowest subset score. For example, if your lowest subset score on any individual component is 1.0, then your WinSAT score is 1.0. The WinSAT score is not an average of the subset scores. The only way to raise your WinSAT score is to raise your lowest subset score. Even if your LE1600 or LS800 has a low WinSAT score, you will be able to run the core experiences of Windows Vista.
