CERTUS FLEX UNIQUE DISPENSING TECHNOLOGY FOR YOU Modular Design Your choice The CERTUS FLEX is available in two basic versions: with 5 and with 8 individually controllable channels. This means that within one application or experiment (up to) 5 respectively (up to) 8 substances can be dispensed simultaneously or in a defined sequence in accurate individual doses for each single shot. For dispensing into well plates this means any dose to any well. If required, the channels can be equipped with different valves in order to facilitate an ideal dispensing of substances of different physical properties. The dispensing parameters of each channel are individually controlled by the proprietary CERTUS software and electronics. Contactless Dispensing of a broad Spectrum of liquid Substances CERTUS FLEX has been developed for the contactless dispensing of a broad range of liquid substances: aqueous solutions, alcohols, DMSO, solvents, detergents, cells, DNA, proteins or oils with a viscosity of up to 200 mpa.s. can be handled smoothly by our regular valves. Of course also large molecules are dispensed with great accuracy. For substances from 200 to 15.000 mpa.s. special valves are available. Intuitive and flexible Software CERTUS FLEX comes along with an easy-to-use and intuitive proprietary software. The software also comprises a protocolling and storage of all dispensing parameters on the connected PC and an export of all experimental data to spreadsheet programs like MS Excel. Complete Dispensing Control The combination of GYGER s unique microvalves with the proprietary CERTUS software, electronic controllers and air pressure management facilitates a precise programming, implementation and control of even highly complex and minuscule doses and increments. With the perfect integration of its components CERTUS FLEX offers you a complete stand-alone system.
CERTUS FLEX UNIQUE DISPENSING TECHNOLOGY FOR YOU Flexible Options of Fluid Uptake If large quantities of fluids are to be dispensed, the fluids can be fed to the valves from bottles or other suitable containers via uptake tubes. For the dispensing of smaller volumes or expensive substances, syringes with volumes from 1 to 60 ml can be attached by luer lock directly onto the valves. Not just Well plates In their standard versions CERTUS FLEX dispensers are geared to dispensing into 48 to 3456 well plates at high speed. However, dispensing is also possible into a broad range of other dishes or containers to meet your experimental requirements. Peace of Mind Do not break your head (and hands!) any longer with complex manual dispensing or error-prone dilution patterns. Let CERTUS FLEX do the job for you with its intuitive software and unique dispensing technology. Superb Value for Money When purchasing a GYGER dispenser, you do not trap into hidden extras! No single-use valve cartridges, no extra calibrators, no disposable tips We are sorry that CERTUS FLEX cannot come to you for free. But is saves you a lot of expenses and lasts a lifetime, offering you a superb value for money.
CERTUS FLEX UNIQUE DISPENSING TECHNOLOGY FOR YOU Long Life and easy Maintenance GYGER microvalves can perform 500 million cycles and more without losing their accuracy. This might appear little in comparison to e.g. some piezo-driven valves claiming more than 100 billion cycles, but our microvalves dispense larger volumes up to 5 µl not as many separate tiny drops, but in one single shot like opening and closing a tap. Thus the num- ber of effective valve movements is substantially reduced, giving you more total dispensing operations for your investment. The microvalves can be cleaned easily by flushing them with e.g. water, alcohol, DMSO or solvents after dispensing sticky fluids. It goes without saying that our microvalves can be comfortably removed and autoclaved, if required. Accuracy and Flexibility CERTUS gives you immense flexibility to dispense fluids of low to high viscosity in individual and highly accurate doses from Nano liters to milliliters. Depending on your needs, CERTUS can be fitted with easily changeable valves of different nozzle diameters and valve travels and thus be customized for individual requirements or experiments. Our recommended standard valves range from below 100 nl to more than 1 ml (with fluids of viscosities between 1 and 200 mpa.s.). By combining different valves best suitable for your specific assay volumes and the specific substances to be handled, CERTUS provides you with utmost dispensing flexibility. Smooth Integration into your Laboratory Automation CERTUS FLEX integrates smoothly into your laboratory automation and workflow for e.g. high throughput applications. CERTUS FLEX is compatible with the SiLA standard for rapid integration into laboratory automation.

CUTTING-EDGE MICROVALVE TECHNOLOGY MADE BY GYGER The SMLD solenoid (= electromagnetic) microvalves developed and patented by GYGER form the core technology inside the CERTUS Nano Liquid Disensers. Functional Principle of Gyger Microvalves The fluid to be dispensed is injected into the valve by compressed air (5). When there is no current, the microvalve is closed and the valve ball (6) which is attached to the mobile anchor (7) closes the valve nozzle (1) tightly by compression of the closing spring (2). When current is fed through the valve coil (3), the mobile anchor with the valve ball is magnetically pulled towards the stationary anchor (4). The microvalve opens and the fluid is ejected through the valve nozzle. Due to an appropriate ejecting thrust the dispensing is contactless. Depending on the dispensing parameters, the microvalve can operate at a speed of up to 4.000 opening/closing movements per second. 5 4 8 3 2 1 7 6 A) Microvalve closed, current OFF B) Microvalve open, current ON 1) Valve seat with valve nozzle 2) Closing spring 3) Valve coil 4) Stationary anchor 5) Medium 6) Valve ball 7) Mobile anchor 8) Switch Specifically polished sapphires and rubies are used as closing elements. Thus the microvalves have a very low wear and tear and can be autoclaved. Dispensing with CERTUS FLEX is a perfectly finetuned interaction of fluid pressure, fluid viscosity, valve nozzle diameter, valve opening time and valve travel.
