User Manual This document explains the required browser settings for Firefox 4 Google Chrome Internet Explorer 9 Firefox 4 You need to set up your browser in order to use the proxy server. This can be done as follows: 1. Select Firefox > Options 2. In the Advanced pane select the Network tab 3. Click on Settings right next to Configure how Firefox connects to the Internet 4. Select Manual configuration 5. Enter your proxy s address and port number as pictured below Please note: Using this configuration, all your browser communication is routed though the proxy server. This may impact your web surfing performance. You may want to consider using a Firefox add-on to route only your request to Google Calendar through the proxy server.
Firefox Alternative Configuration: Using add-ons There are several Firefox add-ons which allow you to selectively route specific websites through your proxy server. This manual describes the configuration using Foxy Proxy. 1. Download and install the Foxy Proxy add-on from https://addons.mozilla.org/de/firefox/addon/foxyproxy-standard/ 2. After restarting your browser, go to Firefox > Add-ons 3. Select Extensions and press the Options button right next to Foxy Proxy 4. Select the Proxies tab and click on Add new Proxy 5. Enter your proxy s details as follows: 6. Select the URL Pattern tab and Add new Pattern 7. Enter the pattern as shown in the following picture:
When Foxy Proxy is enabled, every access to Google Calendar will now be routed through your proxy server.
Adding a Certificate Exception 1. In order to be able to encrypt and decrypt your calendar entries, the system will present you a forged certificate for google.com. Your browser will display a warning message: 2. In order to accept the forged certificate, click on I Understand the Risk and select Add Exception. 3. Finally select Confirm Security Exception to permanently accept the certificate.
Google Chrome To route all of your browser communication through your proxy server, proceed as follows: 1. Select the wrench-icon at the top-right corner 2. Navigate to Options > Under the hood 3. Click on Change proxy setting 4. In the tab Connections select LAN Settings 5. Fill in your proxy s URL or IP address as well as the proxy s port number Your internet communication will now be routed through the proxy server. Select the add-on s icon at the top-right corner and select Options 3. Click on New Profile and enter your proxy s URL or IP as well as the proxy s port number 4. Select the Switch Rules tab 5. Create a new rule to match Google Calendar URLs
6. Enable Proxy Switchy! Every request matching the URL pattern will now be using the proxy profile Google Calendar (as defined in step 3) Chrome Adding a Certificate Exception When first visiting google.com/calendar you ll receive a security warning. Proceed as follows to permanently accept the proxy server s forged certificate: 1. Click on the lock symbol in the URL bar and select Certificate Information 2. Select Details and Copy to File. Store the certificate on your harddrive. 3. Double-Click on the certificate file and select Install to install the certificate. 4. Restart Chrome

In the Connections tab, select LAN Settings 3. In order to accept the certificate permanently, do the following: 1. Start IE9 with administrative privileges and visit google.com/calendar 2. Click on Continue to this website 3. Double click on the lock symbol in the URL bar 4. Select View Certificate and click on Install Certificate 5. Follow the wizard to store the certificate
