You should add the Magos to home screen to allow use in full screen. Mission: The Mission type can be words, memory or fractions. The word mission supports game missions where author can choose a task that bases on words (e.g. City of Helsinki) or numbers (e.g. 6+6) and then add the right answer(s) (Helsinki, Tampere) as well as wrong answer(s) (Rome, Athens, London, Paris). Several tasks can be added to the game s mission. Both, right and wrong, options will occur randomly in the game scene. In the game the player should collect the right answers and avoid the wrong ones.
The memory mission bases on remembering numbers and doing additions at the same time. In memory game the player has to calculate, remember and catch a target number. First a target number is calculated by adding the increment defined in editor to the starting number. After each right answer a new target number is formed by adding the defined increment to the current target number. For example if the starting number is 10 and the increment is 4, the first target number is 14. When player has caught the first target number a new target number is formed, in our example 18. The game goes on with this logic (22, 26, 30 etc.). In fraction mission player s task is to catch a bar illustration of the fraction number shown in the task panel (locates on top of the game screen). In the editor the game author should define fraction tasks that will be added to the mission (e.g. 1/3, 2/4 etc.). General. Note! You can add as many tasks you like to a mission, but always remember to press ADD TASK TO MISSION button. You can remove tasks with REMOVE button. You can also choose in what time span you would like the task to appear on your game by defining the APPEARANCE INTERVAL.
Game type and mode: Your game type can be flying or racing game. Both modes offer different play experiences especially when played as exergames with a tablet device. In flying game player controls game character s vertical movement with mouse clicks or space bar presses. If player does not do anything the character will move downwards. If flying game is played with tablet device the character can be controlled also with physical movements (running still). In racing game the character moves on ground and player s can made character jump by mouse click, space bar press or jumping into air with tablet device. Note that if game is controlled with physical movements the Motion control setting can be used to determine how intensive the motion has to be for example to cause character to jump. The character can be controlled horizontally with arrow keys. Controlling flying game by running still Controlling racing game by jumping You can select one of three possible game modes. 1) In time mode you should define how long the game lasts. 2) In survival mode define how rapidly the game gets harder. In this mode the interval between hazards is speeded up from time to time). 3) In distance mode you should define how far the player should be able to travel. If the player achieves enough meters he wins the game. Player: Select your player character. Available options are based on selected game mode. Scene: All the modified scene properties appear on the screen. Try out different kinds of combinations. Collectibles: Collectibles are items the player tries to collect to earn points, but these are not related to the actual mission items (the main task of the game). You can add several ones and choose the APPEARANCE INTERVAL. Note that the default amount of points is 0 and you have to define points separately in Points menu. Hazards:
The player should avoid hazards. You can add several ones and choose the APPEARANCE INTERVAL for them. In addition, you can decide whether the player loses a life if it collides with hazards or not. In the game a player can also use explosion button to get rid of approaching hazards. Note that the default amount of points is 0 and you have to define points for hazards separately in Points menu. Speed: You can adjust separately the actual speed of collectibles and hazards (how fast elements approach on the screen). Points: Define the amount of positive points for catching collectibles and correct mission answers. Define also the amount of negative points for hazards and wrong mission answers. Power ups: In this menu you can switch on or off extra lives and turbo speed. Turbo speed affects the speed of the whole game. Stars: Define point limits to earn one, two or three stars based on player s performance. Tip for calculating maximum amount of points that can be collected in the game: 1) Calculate how many collectibles will be added to the sky during the game and multiply it with points earned from collecting collectibles. 2) Calculate how many mission tasks will be added to the sky during the game and multiply it with points earned from collecting right answers. 3) Add the maximum points together. Instruction: Write instructions for other players. Be specific in describing what is the main task, what the player should avoid and what to collect in order to gain points. Publishing the game After editing, click the preview button. If your game is ready, publish it to your organization (group) and challenge your friends to play it. You can make the game public for all in Magos portal. Extra: Controlling game with MaKey MaKey Following controls of MaKey MaKey can be used to control games created with Magos Lite.
