Engines, running gear and transmission. Caddy with BlueMotion Technology. The Caddy demonstrates our conviction that innovations should be made as widely available as possible. Technologies such as small displacement engines with turbocharging or a dual clutch automatic gearbox (DSG) are considered to have groundbreaking efficiency, comfort and dynamics. This may be unusual for a car in this category but is a matter of course for a Volkswagen. Wherever your journey takes you you will always have a good feeling about driving the Caddy with BlueMotion Technology. A comprehensive technology package available as an option for every trim level contributes towards a noticeable reduction in fuel consumption and CO 2 emissions without forfeiting comfort in any way. The Caddy with a 1.6 l TDI engine and 75 kw 4), for example, has an average fuel-consumption of just 5.1 litres per 100 km and reduces the combined CO 2 emissions to low 134 g/km. 4MOTION all-wheel drive. Should a wheel lose traction, 4MOTION intervenes immediately. Power is directed away from the wheel so that the other wheels briefly take over its function and, as a result, wheelspin is avoided. Start/stop system. This helps you to drive economically. After you have shifted into neutral at red traffic lights, the system switches the engine off automatically and starts it again as soon as the journey is continued. 7-speed dual clutch gearbox (DSG) (not illustrated). This changes gear fully automatically without interruption of pulling power and is available for the 1.6 l TDI engine with 75 kw 1). A 6-speed dual clutch gearbox is supplied as standard for the 125 kw engine 2) and as an option for the 103 kw engine 3). The 103 kw version is available with 4MOTION all-wheel drive in conjunction with a dual clutch gearbox. Hill Start Assist (not illustrated). This prevents the vehicle from rolling back on inclines, making it easier to start off on uphill slopes. Hill Start Assist is standard on the Caddy 4MOTION, the Caddy with BlueMotion Technology and all Caddy models with a dual clutch gearbox (DSG). Common rail TDI engines. Caddy EcoFuel and Caddy BiFuel. The Caddy EcoFuel and Caddy BiFuel lower fuel costs up to 50% as natural gas (CNG) and Autogas (LPG) are considerably more favourably priced than petrol or diesel. The 2.0 l 80 kw 1) engine in the Caddy EcoFuel and the 1.6 l 75 kw 2) unit in the Caddy BiFuel burn fuel very efficiently so that both models are exceptionally economical without having to compromise on load compartment volume or driving safety. The Caddy has a comprehensive package of intelligent safety systems so that you have reassuring all-round protection. For example, the Electronic Stabilisation Programme can help to avoid accidents and, if the worst should come to the worst, many equipment features ensure a high level of occupant protection. Hill Start Assist (not illustrated). This prevents the vehicle rolling back on inclines and ensures good handling when driving off. Hill Start Assist is standard on the Caddy 4MOTION, the Caddy with BlueMotionTechnology, and on all Caddy models with a dual clutch gearbox (DSG). Range. The total distance for the Caddy EcoFuel is on a par with that of conventional petrol engines and is even surpassed by the Caddy BiFuel. Lashing eyes (not illustrated). There are four lashing eyes in the load compartment of the Caddy and six in the Caddy Maxi to safely secure loads. Steel natural gas tanks of the Caddy EcoFuel. These robust tanks are heat-resistant and have a capacity of 26 kg of natural gas altogether, which is enough for a distance of approx. 440 km. The 13 litre reserve supply of petrol extends your radius of action to approx. 570 km. The steel natural gas tanks in the Caddy Maxi EcoFuel have a capacity of 37 kg so that, together with the petrol reserve, this model can cover a distance of up to 700 km. The natural gas is burned after it has been injected via valves with triple protection. Net partition. The net partition offers passive protection from loose items of luggage during sudden braking manoeuvres. It can be secured to mounting points behind the B and C pillars and rolled together when not required. Airbags (not illustrated). The Caddy has one airbag each for the driver and front passenger and two side/head airbags as standard. The front passenger airbag can be deactivated via a switch in the glove compartment. In addition, lumbar support (lordosis support) is standard for the driver and front passenger in the Caddy Highline. Volkswagen s Environmental Commendation for vehicles and technologies highlights ecological progress in comparison with predecessor models or comparative models. This is based on Life Cycle Assessments in accordance with ISO 14040 and ISO 14044 which are verified by independent experts in the case of Volkswagen, by the technical inspection organisation TÜV Nord. The Life Cycle Assessment covers not only consumption and exhaust emission figures but also the entire life cycle of a Caddy from its production and use to the recycling process. This means that the energy used during assembly and the future recycling of materials are taken into account in the calculation. Detailed results of the Life Cycle Assessment and additional information on how Volkswagen products and processes are devised to be more environment friendly are given on the Internet: www.umweltpraedikat.de. These figures do not refer to a single, particular vehicle and do not constitute part of the offer but are purely for comparison purposes between the various types of vehicle. In addition to the fuel efficiency of a car, driving behaviour as well as other non-technical factors (e.g. environmental conditions) play a role in determining a car s fuel consumption and CO 2 emissions. Additional equipment features and accessories (attachment parts, tyres, etc.) can alter the relevant vehicle parameters for example weight, rolling resistance and aerodynamics and, together with weather and traffic conditions, influence fuel consumption and performance figures. Note in accordance with the version of directive 1999/94/EC currently valid: further information on the official fuel consumption and official specific CO 2 emissions of new passenger cars is given in a guide containing data on fuel consumption, CO 2 emissions and power consumption for new passenger car models. It is available free of charge at every point of sale in the European Union or, for prospective buyers in Germany, at DAT Deutsche Automobil Treuhand GmbH, Hellmuth-Hirth-Strasse 1, 73760 Ostfildern, and under www.dat.de. Efficiency classes evaluate vehicles on the basis of CO 2 emissions taking into account the vehicle s unladen weight. Vehicles corresponding with the average are given a D rating. A +, A, B or C ratings are given to vehicles which are better than the present-day average, and E, F or G to those below this average. 2) Caddy Startline. 3) Caddy Trendline or Caddy Tramper. 4) Caddy Edition 30. 5) Caddy Comfortline. 6) Caddy Highline.
