Construction Defect Defense Panel Counsel for Insurance Companies We are panel counsel for AIG and other large insurance companies because we take an aggressive approach to construction defect defense litigation and we get results. We take cases to trial and we obtain defense verdicts. We understand construction and insurance as each of our litigators have independent experience in both industries.

Construction Defect Defense We know construction defect insurance defense from the inside out. Lead trial partner, Ted Prenovost, was both a trade contractor and an adjuster/law clerk prior to becoming house counsel for Safeco Insurance during his first 7 years as an attorney. Our team brings years of combined litigation experience as panel counsel, staff counsel, in house counsel, and personal counsel to construction companies large and small. We specialize in defending subcontractor in a variety of construction and construction defect matters. We understand the subcontractors trade specialty from the dirt to the roof and have successfully defended clients in cases in not only residential tract developments but also in those involving large, commercial projects in Oakland, Venice, Marina Del Rey, UC Santa Cruz, UC Santa Barbara, San Francisco, and San Diego. Our firm is actively defending subcontractors in the construction defect cases brought by The Irvine Company LLC for their apartment projects throughout California which concern hundreds of units each. We are specialists in Civil Code 895 (SB800) cases. We actively pursue early evaluation defense protocols as well as file dispositive motions concerning Civil Code 896 and Civil Code 945.5 to protect our clients interests and get dismissals on their behalf. In addition to our work representing subcontractors, our firm is equally qualified and experienced representing developers and general contractors in s WRAP / OCIP (Owner Controlled Insurance Program) matters. We annually appear ready in 10-15 trials and we get results. We handle our cases with an eye towards trial and are not complacent in our approach for the best results for our clients. We are strong and tenacious advocates at trial. We manage experts and work within budgets and with insurance adjusters. Several of us were insurance adjusters prior to our litigation careers so we understand what is needed to get the best results for the client and its insurer. We understand carrier protocols, litigation budgets, carrier reporting requirements, and the importance of the management of the tripartite relationship between the insured, the insurer and the defense attorney. We understand insurance coverage and we are creative to resolve issues between parties, between the insured and insurer, and between co- carriers. We use our depth of experience and our variety of knowledge to defend insurers and contractors against all types of insurance claims, including claims involving construction accident injuries and construction defects. We want to be your counsel.
