TOTAL DATA WAREHOUSING: 2013-2018 Analytic Database and Hadoop Market Sizing and Forecasts This report examines the marketplace for Total Data Warehousing including competing players, revenue generation and growth potential within the analytic database and Hadoop market sectors. It provides estimates for the size of the aggregate market and each sector, as well as competitive landscape maps. It also includes a growth forecast for each sector, and highlights the opportunities and threats facing participating vendors. KEY FINDINGS The rise of Apache Hadoop in the data warehousing market over the past few years is being driven largely by demand for more flexible approaches to data management and analytics in order to overcome the limitations of traditional analytic databases and their adherence to strictly defined schema. In addition to Hadoop, this trend has also driven an increase in demand for more exploratory approaches to analytics, including platforms specifically designed to allow data scientists to experiment with more agile methods of data analysis. Another key emerging trend in the data warehousing space is the rise of cloud-based, as-aservice delivery models for data-processing and analytics technologies. We estimate that the combined revenue from analytic database and Hadoop vendors was $13.6bn in 2013. This figure is expected to grow at a CAGR of 12% to reach $24.2bn in 2018. JULY 2014
