Overview Overview This document describes the steps required to install the EnlightKS Java-Free Plug-in. The Plug-in is intended for use with the most up to date versions of Internet Explorer and Google Chrome and supported versions are listed below. For Chrome users only, additional steps are necessary to install a Chrome extension. In addition to downloading the installer ahead of launching a test, the plug-in can also be downloaded from the In-Application system requirements page and installed before a test is taken. Both methods of installation are described hereafter. System Requirements Operating System Microsoft Windows 7.x Microsoft Windows 8.x Please note that whilst the plug-in and extension may work with older versions of Microsoft Windows they will not be formally supported. Browser Microsoft Internet Explorer 9, 10, 11 Google Chrome (latest release) Please note that whilst the plug-in and extension may work with other browsers, such as Firefox, they will not be formally supported. Office Microsoft Office 2007 Microsoft Office 2010 Microsoft Office 2013 Please note that whilst the plug-in and extension may work with In-Application tests for older versions of Microsoft Office they will not be formally supported. 3
System Administrator Installation Guide Summary This guide is designed for system administrators intending to prepare workstation(s) for candidate(s). The plug-in MSI can be deployed to workstations in a network using proprietary deployment software if available or manually to individual machines using the following instructions. Installing the Plug-in (Internet Explorer and Google Chrome) Download the EKSLWPlugin.msi installation file from here. Right click EKSLWPlugin.msi and selected Install. Press the Run button. 4
Press the Next button. Press the Yes button. 5
Press the Finish button. The plug-in installation procedure is now complete. 6
Installing the Extension (Google Chrome Only) These steps are required for Google Chrome users only. Prerequisites Ensure that the plug-in is installed before you add the extension to Chrome. Installing the Chrome Extension Click here to navigate to the Google Store where you can attain the Chrome Extension. Press Add to Chrome Press the Add button. 7
Once the extension has been added to Chrome, a confirmation message will be displayed as shown in the illustration below. The Chrome extension installation procedure is now complete. Additional Steps (Google Chrome Only) Chrome users must ensure that NPAPI is disabled. Please note that NPAPI is disabled by default in the latest version of Chrome and will be removed from Chrome completely from September 2015. Open a Chrome browser and navigate to: chrome://flags/#enable-npapi Press Disable then press Relaunch now. The disabled NPAPI should display as shown in the illustration below. The additional steps procedure is now complete. 8
Candidate Installation Guide Summary This guide is designed for candidates who wish to install the plug-in and Chrome extension when launching a test. Installing the Plug-in (Internet Explorer and Google Chrome) Login to ET2 as a candidate 9
Go to your Catalogue page, click on the assigned resource to begin a test. NB: You will need to launch a resource that requires in-application functionality, such as a diagnostic or certification test for Word, Excel or PowerPoint. In-application resources interact with an installed version of Microsoft Office on your workstation. 10
Once the download is complete, run EKSLWPlugin.msi Right click EKSLWPlugin.msi and selected Install. 11
Press the Run button. Press the Next button. 12
Press the Yes button. Press the Finish button. The plug-in installation procedure is now complete. For Internet Explorer press F5 to refresh the browser and go to Installation Complete. 13
Installing the Extension (Google Chrome Only) Go to the Chrome browser, and refresh the web page by pressing F5 Press the Add to Chrome button. Press the Add button 14
After the Extension has been added to Chrome a confirmation is displayed: EnlightKS Light Weight Candidate has been added to Chrome Refresh the browser by pressing F5. 15
Additional Steps (Chrome Only) Chrome users must ensure that NPAPI is disabled.
