Page 5 Conference Promotion Checklist Parish Captain (Team) Conference Call Feb 2, 2016 Attend Deanery Kickoff Meeting by February 7, 2016, Present promo plan to your Pastor, secure his approval, bring him to the Conference ASAP Place conference posters at parish by February 10, 2016 Discuss ways to promote conference in your parish Work with team of 2-3 other men to plan your recruiting strategy The best way to recruit men is by personal invitation Encourage recruits to invite 2 or 3 men to join them, too Make presentations to the parish s men s groups, KOC, etc. to help by February 26, 2016 Set Attendance Goal for Parish by February 18, 2016 (10 men per small parish, 30-50 in larger parishes) This Parish s Attendance Goal will be Arrange Bulletin Insert ASAP (meet bulletin submittal deadline for your parish) Schedule Pulpit Talks on March 19-21, 2016. Get posters up right after your PC Kickoff Meeting. Share Conference Brochures and Wallet Cards Hand them directly to potential attendees and talk about conference. Mention that registration can be via website or by mail-in. Parish Bulletin Announcements and/or Parish Newsletter Articles As soon as possible and as often as possible starting as early as possible in February to be most effective Invitation Use your parish s new-family list to make personal contact and extend invitations to men new to your parish or to men that don t regularly attend Mass or are not Catholics. Dear Daddy Letter Compose a simulated letter of invitation from a child and arrange to distribute copies to all parish religious education students by early February Get in on Parish Meetings Make a list of every major meeting scheduled in the Parish during February and March (including women s groups). Arrange to attend and speak or hand out brochures to attendees. The event will feature keynote presentations by Catholic biblical scholar, professor and conference speaker Dr. Scott Hahn from Steubenville, Ohio, and well-known blogger Msgr. Charles Pope from the Archdiocese of Washington D.C. There will be opportunities for Eucharistic Adoration, the celebration of the Sacrament of Reconciliation as well as devotional prayers. Additionally, exhibitors will be present with a full array of Catholic books and publications as well as CDs and ministry opportunities. Fathers, sons, grandsons and friends are all most welcome to register for the event. Bishop Joseph C. Bambera will join with participants throughout the day and celebrate a closing Mass. The idea for the event was initiated by laymen from various parishes, with the support of their pastors, in an effort to address challenging issues facing men in today's culture. Our Men s group is part of the Catholic Men s Ministry of the Diocese of Scranton which is sponsoring the 2016 Catholic Men s Conference on Saturday, April 23rd. Father has allowed me to take a few minutes to highlight some important details about the Conference. This is the second year that this conference will be held in the Scranton Diocese. We hope to bring together more than 1,000 men for an inspirational and uplifting day.
