Master Program International Automotive Engineering Master Program Automotive Production Engineering Dear Applicant, thank you for your interest in our Master-Programs "International Automotive Engineering" and/or "Automotive Production Engineering" These are the two Master courses at the Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt which are taught in English. Both are 3 semester full-time programs with 90 ECTS. They are designed to be enclosed to a Bachelor-program which should be a 7 semester program. An internship is not part of the programs. However, most of the students from abroad insert an internship, e.g. at Continental, Bertrandt, EDAC. International Automotive Engineering Please note, that this program is not a specialization in a specific area of automotive engineering. The objective is to extend knowledge on several different aspects. Therefore, subjects of the program are related to mechanical aspects, production oriented aspects as well as electronic aspects. Please take into consideration that half of the subjects are related to electronic aspects in automotive engineering (see https://www.thi.de/elektrotechnik-undinformatik/studiengaenge/studiengangsinformation/details/international-automotive-engineering/; FAQs can be found at the bottom of the page). The requirements for the course are - Completion of an engineering program or a program in computer science at a German university or a comparable degree from an equivalent foreign university. Solely the examination committee decides whether a particular degree or university is equivalent. - Sufficient knowledge of the English language, as certified by a TOEFL (Test Of English As A Foreign Language) score of at least 530 for the paper based test, 197 for the computer based test or at least 71 for the internet-based test, or by equivalent certification. This certification is not required of applicants who have completed their university degree in the English language or when the applicant is a citizen of a country where English is spoken as a first language. - Knowledge of the German language, as certified by the Goethe-Certificate level A1, or by equivalent certification. This certification is not required of applicants who have completed their university degree in the German language or when the applicant is a citizen of a country where German is spoken as a first language. We do not ask for GRE. Selection of applicants is based on the grades. We don't take working experience into consideration. Since our program is more oriented towards mechatronic in doubts applicants having studied electronical engineering, automotive engineering or mechatronics or applicants who have passed subjects that show a strong and comprehensive background in control engineering and mechatronics are preferred. Automotive Production Engineering The requirements for the course are - The successful completion of a Bachelor s or "Diplom"-degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics or an equivalent degree at a German university with a minimum of 210 credit points (in conformity with General Examination Regulations) - or - the successful completion of an equivalent degree at a foreign university - or - the successful completion of an equivalent degree at a foreign university - a successfully passed aptitude test for the Master s degree course Automotive Production Engineering (according to 4 of Examination Regulations) with following criteria: documented proof of experience in the field of Automotive Production by internship and/or project work/academic papers

- Proof of sufficient English language skills, documented by a TOEFL-test score of 530 or above (paper-based) or 197 or above (computer-based) or 71 and above (internet-based) or an equivalent certificate. This proof is not required provided the university entrance qualification certificate or the Bachelor s degree was acquired in English or the applicant possesses the citizenship of a country in which English is the native language. - Knowledge of the German language, as certified by the Goethe-Certificate level A1, or by equivalent certification. This certification is not required of applicants who have completed their university degree in the German language or when the applicant is a citizen of a country where German is spoken as a first language. GRE is not required. The selection of the applicants is based on grades and the results of the aptitude test. Further questions will be answered by the following persons: International Automotive Engineering Prof. Dr. Andreas Hagerer Academic advisor of International Automotive Engineering Andreas.Hagerer@thi.de Automotive Production Engineering Prof. Dr. Bernd Griesbach Academic advisor of Automotive Production Engineering mape@thi.de Information related to tuition fees Fees totalling 42 (students' union fee) will be booked by direct debit from the student's account. Therefore, it is necessary to issue an authorisation to the university to book the amounts due by direct debit from the given bank account. Moreover, students must have authority of disposal over the given account and must ensure that the account holds sufficient funds at the time the amount is booked. It is important that sufficient funds are available on October the 08 th. Otherwise, students will themselves be liable for any additional costs or bank charges incurred. The booking date is not the same as the date of registration. Information related to health insurance for students 1. Insurance facts a) Compulsory insurance Students registered at state or state-recognised universities in the Federal Republic of Germany are liable to pay compulsory insurance. This also applies to students registered in Germany who have their residence or usual home abroad, if they have no claim to benefits under international law or agreements between countries. The obligation to take out compulsory insurance continues to apply until the end of the 14th course semester but no later than the end of the semester in which the student turns 30. The insurance obligation applies beyond this time if the exceeding of the age limit or the limit on the number of course semesters is due to the type of study or has occurred for family or personal reasons, in particular acquisition of admission qualifications in a part-time educational facility. Students who are gainfully employed as well as attending university remain subject to compulsory student insurance if they are predominantly students, i.e. if their time and working capability is primarily devoted to study. On the other hand, if someone is predominantly an employee in view of the number of hours he or she works, he is subject to insurance as an employee and not as a student. b) Family insurance Students are not subject to compulsory insurance if they have family insurance with the statutory health insurance company of their parents or spouse; the same applies to nursing insurance ("Pflegeversicherung"). Children have a claim to family insurance until they complete their 25th year if they are in full-time education or vocational training. If education or training has been interrupted or delayed due to military or alternative social service, family insurance can be extended for a period beyond the 25th year, corresponding to the time of service. Another requirement for family insurance is that the family member concerned has a total income which does not regularly exceed one-seventh of the reference income monthly. c) Compulsory insurance on application Students who are covered by family insurance in the former East Germany and attend a university in former West Germany can, on application, take out compulsory student insurance and thus become a member of a health insurance company of their choice in the former West Germany. d) Exemption from compulsory insurance Anyone liable to take out compulsory insurance when registering as a student can be released from this obligation on application. Such an application must be submitted to the health insurance company within three months of the start of the obligation. This exemption cannot be revoked and applies for the whole period of study. e) Voluntary insurance Students who are no longer subject to compulsory insurance (e.g. because they have exceed the maximum number of semesters or the maximum age) can take out voluntary student insurance. To do this, they must have been insured for at least 24 months in the last five years before the obligation expired or for at least 12 months without interruption directly before the obligation expired. Continuation of membership of the health insurance company as a voluntary member is also subject to the health insurance company being given written notification of the situation within three months of expiry of the insurance obligation. Anyone continuing to hold insurance on a voluntary basis remains subject to compulsory nursing insurance ("Pflegeversicherung"). 2. Benefits

Students and, if applicable, their co-insured family members, are entitled to benefits which cover medical and dental treatment, including supply of dentures, medicines, bandages, medicaments and medical aids, hospital treatment, early diagnosis examinations, pregnancy and maternity benefits and benefits if nursing care is needed; they do not, on the other hand, have any claim to sickness benefits. 3. Premiums Students subject to compulsory insurance must pay semester premiums for health insurance and nursing insurance in advance to the appropriate health insurance company before registering or reregistering at the university. Health insurance company statutes may provide for other methods of payment. If students fail to meet their obligation to pay the insurance premium, the university will refuse to allow registration or accept registration. No premium is charged for students who have family insurance. The amount of the premium payable by students insured on a voluntary basis is stipulated in health insurance company statutes. 4. No registration without submission of an insurance certificate Prior to registration, every university applicant must contact the appropriate health insurance company in order to obtain an insurance certificate. The health insurance company will issue the university applicant with a certificate stating - whether he or she is insured or - whether he or she has no insurance, is exempt from compulsory insurance or is not subject to compulsory insurance. The insurance certificate must be submitted to the university with the other documents required for registration. If a student changes university, a new insurance certificate has to be submitted. 5. Which health insurance company is responsible for issuing the insurance certificate? University applicants will obtain the certificate required for initial university registration from the health insurance company with which they are insured or expect to be insured - either as a member or through family insurance - at the start of their university course. University applicants who do not have public health insurance at the start of their university course will obtain their insurance certificate from the health insurance with which they were last insured, either as a member or through family insurance. Here it does not matter how long ago last membership or family insurance was. If there is no last health insurance company, one of the available choice of health insurance companies is responsible for issue of the insurance certificate. University applicants who want to be made exempt from compulsory insurance will obtain their insurance certificate from the health insurance company which grants the exemption. 6. Choice of health insurance company As of January 1, 1996, students subject or entitled to compulsory insurance can choose membership in one of the following health insurance companies: - the AOK at their place of residence - any alternative health insurance company in the statutes of which responsibility for the place of residence of the insured is specified - company and guild health insurance companies if their statutes permit and the insured lives in the appropriate district - the health insurance company of which the student was last a member or had family insurance, - the health insurance company with which the spouse is insured, - the AOK or any alternative health insurance company at the place at which the university has its domicile. The insured must notify the selected health insurance company of his or her choice no later than two weeks after the obligation to take out compulsory insurance takes effect. The selected health insurance company is also responsible for handling nursing insurance. Students with family insurance have no choice; they must accept the choice made by the member of a health insurance company in their family. 7. Who provides information on health insurance? This leaflet can only provide general information. Health insurance companies can supply more details of student health insurance. Information related to cost of living The following table lists the expense per student. Pos. Item Amount 1 Fees per semester

1.1 Student s organization 42,00 2 Insurance per month 2.1 Health insurance 70,00 2.2 Accident insurance (optional) 20,00 3 Cost of living per month 3.1 Accommodation 450,00 3.2 Alimentation 300,00 3.3 Study material 100,00 3.4 Urban transportation 50,00 The student service fee is about 42 Euro per semester.
