The handheld should at this point be ready for sending and receiving emails. [Exit] 5 Debugging of problems detected during the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Registration process: The Registration process is extremely dependant on GPRS resources in the network, and the SIM subscription. The M600 BBC Application Status Tab provides excellent help when registration problem is detected. The different states are listed below: 5.1 APN Connected APN Connected indicates that BlackBerry Connect Application in the M600 is trying to establish a Connection to the BlackBerry infrastructure. Note that the BlackBerry Icon in the Status Bar is blinking while in this state. The registration phase normally takes a few seconds, however if the M600 stays in this state for a long time it normally indicates a malfunctioning service which could be related to:
(19) BlackBerry Infrastructure local problems M600 Phone and Organiser SW are not approved. Action: Check that Organiser SW is approved for BlackBerry operations. SIM card or PIN Rejected by RIMs provisioning system. 5.2 Packet Data Available Packet Data Available indicates that BlackBerry Connect Application in the M600 is trying to establish a Connection to the BlackBerry infrastructure, however due to GPRS related problems it is not possible to activate the BlackBerry PDP Context in the M600. Note that the BlackBerry Icon in the Status Bar is blinking while in this state. The GPRS problems could be related to: BlackBerry Subscription not available on the SIM card Operator is currently not accepting the PDP Context due to Roaming agreements. Action: Contact your specific operator for more information.
(19) 5.3 Not Connected Not Connected indicates that BlackBerry Connect Application in the M600 is trying to establish a Connection to the BlackBerry infrastructure, however due to various problems this is not possible. Note that the BlackBerry Icon is crossed while in this state. These undefined problems may be related to that: GPRS Coverage is missing. BlackBerry Client is Paused. M600 configured for CS Only. Action: Go to M600 Tools, Control Panel, Connections & Internet Accounts and verify that Preferred mode (in options) is not set to CS Only. NOTE: Not Connected state could also in rare cases be related to that the Client has been rejected by the RIM infrastructure after the client has been active for a period of time.
(19) 5.4 Connected Connected indicates that BlackBerry Connect Application in the M600 is connected to the BlackBerry Infrastructure and that the device is accepted (Registered) in Rims provisioning system: SIM card is BlackBerry enabled. IMEI number of the M600 is accepted. PIN accepted. M600 Phone and Organiser SW are approved. Note that Connected indicates that registrations has been successful and that Blackberry should be up and running without any problems from a registration point of view. In order to be ready for sending and receiving email, service books are required which is a separate process that requires Connected state. 6 Debugging of problems detected during the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Provisioning Process: 6.1 Connect problems with BlackBerry Configuration for Sony Ericsson, i.e. the Connect Button is still grey. Connection problems with the BlackBerry Configuration for Sony Ericsson tool normally results in that the Connect Button is grayed out and is not clickable. This could be related to several factors such as: Sony Ericsson PC Suite for M600 not installed. USB/BT drivers or Sony Ericsson PC suite for Smart phones incorrectly installed. BlackBerry SIS not installed in the Handheld or simply not started. (Off as status in the BlackBerry Application) infrastructure. M600 BlackBerry Client hung Action: Power Cycle the M600.
(19) 6.2 Problems to send and/or receive email after a successful BlackBerry Enterprise Server Provisioning: Malfunctioning service books is highly suspected If it is not possible to send or receive mail after an otherwise successful BlackBerry Enterprise Server provisioning. Go to the service book Tab on the BlackBerry application under Tools and check that the three service books received during the Provisioning Operation (Messaging Calendar & Address Lookup) are there, If not an error has occurred. Then click View service book, the Advanced Button hidden behind each Service Book entry contains detailed information: Service Book type: Status: ServerID: Route: Must contain a valid ID, the provisioning step has most likely failed if this field is empty or contains an email address. Route information is the IP Address of the Relay server and local/remote ports used. Action: If any of these entries are incorrect and/or if only two service books has been received: Check that the Outlook client does not use personal folders (PST) as delivery options for new incoming email (Deliver new email to the following location). This setting may be located in Outlook settings. For further information, contact your system administrator and make sure that the Blackberry account has been set up correctly.
