2 Requirements: Before you start installing UmtPlus software, please ensure that you have all of the following requirements: One Personal Computer (PC) (with Windows 95 / 98 / 2000 / NT 4 / XP / Vista / Windows 7 / Windows 8 x86) One Android Device (Version 2.1 or higher) An email from a Laubrass employee indicating the web address to download from STEP 1: Installing the UmtPlus package onto your PC: Before installing the UmtPlus package onto your PC, you need to download the UmtPlus_Max_Installer_V18_DROID_WEB.exe file onto your PC. This can be done two ways: Download from the website Click on the link that you received from Laubrass in an email Follow the instructions and save the file UmtPlus_Max_Installer_V18_DROID_WEB.exe onto your PC Click on the UmtPlus_Max_Installer_V18_DROID_WEB.exe The installation of the UmtPlus package will start. Follow the instructions OR Download from a CD To install the UmtPlus package on your PC, place the CD in your CD drive. If it is not starting automatically, click the UmtPlus_Max_Installer_V18_DROID_CD.exe file from the CD STEP 2: Allow installation of non-market applications To be able to directly install UmtPlus software onto your Android Device without going through the Android Market, you need to allow installation of non-market applications. To do so, go to: Settings Parameters -> Applications -> Unknown sources -> check the appropriate box to allow installation of non-market applications OR (Depending of your Android version) Settings Parameters -> Security -> Unknown sources -> check the appropriate box to allow installation of non-market applications
STEP 3: Installing the UmtPlus software onto your Android Device 3 There are various ways that you can install the UmtPlus software onto your Android Device. This will depend on your hardware device as well as your local network setup. Please see below the option that suits your situation best: WiFi Local Network installation (page 4) USB Cable installation (page 6) External Memory Device installation (page 8)
4 WiFi Local Network installation Before installing the UmtPlus software onto your Android Device, your Device needs to have internet access. Please, refer to your Android Device User s Guide to know how to get access to the internet through a WiFi connection or a Phone Data Plan. 1. Tap on this Icon to get access to internet. 2. Enter this internet address: www.laubrass.com/doc/android/max 3. Tap the Go button 4. Select UmtPlus_MAX_V18_x_x_Mxx.apk. When the download is completed, you will see a download complete Icon on the top/left corner of the screen.
5 5. From the top, slide down with your finger until the notifications screen is displayed. 6. Tap the UmtPlus_MAX_V18_x_x_Mxx.apk 7. Tap the Install button 8. Tap the Open button 9. UmtPlus Max is now installed on your Android Device.
6 USB Cable installation NOTE: Some devices do not support the virtual USB drive feature. Also, on some devices you need to set the "USB settings" in the Android setting to "Mass Storage". Download UmtPlus Software (.apk file) to the android device: 1. Connect the android device to your computer with the USB Cable. 2. On the android device, select Connect storage to PC 3. From your PC, open the DCIM Folder from the android device. 4. Copy the UmtPlus_MAX_V18_x_x_Mxx.apk software from the Umt Folder of your PC to the DCIM Folder of the android device. 5. On the android device, select Disconnect storage from PC or disconnect the device from the USB Cable. 6. From your android device, go to: Applications -> Any File Browser* -> DCIM *Some devices call it File Manager or My Files. If your android device do not have a File Browser, go to the Play Store and install any free File Manager program on your device. 7. Select and Tap the UmtPlus_MAX_V18_x_x_Mxx.apk 8. Tap the Install button 9. Tap the Open button
7 10. UmtPlus Max is now installed on your Android Device.
8 External Memory Device installation Note: Some devices do not support external memory. Download UmtPlus Software (.apk file) to external memory device: 1. Insert your External Memory Device (USB Flash Drive or SD Card) into your PC (Umt Manager). 2. From your PC, a dialog box will appear. Open any Folder from the External Memory Device (USB Flash Drive or SD Card). 3. Copy the UmtPlus_MAX_V18_x_x_Mxx.apk software from the Umt Folder of your PC to the Folder that you select of the External Memory Device (USB Flash Drive or SD Card). 4. Close the Folder, remove the External Memory Device (USB Flash Drive or SD Card) from your PC (UmtPlus) and Insert it into your android device. 5. From your android device, go to: Applications -> Any File Browser* -> Your Folder *Some devices call it File Manager or My Files. If your android device do not have a File Browser, go to the Play Store and install any free File Manager program on your device. 6. Select and Tap the UmtPlus_MAX_V18_x_x_Mxx.apk 7. Tap the Install button 8. Tap the Open button
9 9. UmtPlus Max is now installed on your Android Device.
STEP 4: Setup the communication between UMT Plus and UMT Manager There are various ways that you can set up UMT Plus to communicate between the Android device and the PC that hosts UMT Manager. This will depend on your hardware device as well as your local network setup. 10 Please see below the option that suits your situation best: WiFi Local Network Communication (page 11) Internet Communication (page 13) WiFi Access on a Corporate Network Communication (page 15) Tethering & Portable Hotspot Communication (page 17) Virtual Router Communication with Windows 7 (page 19) Standard USB Cable Communication (page 21) Automated USB Cable Communication (page 23) External Memory Device Communication (page 28)
11 WiFi Local Network Communication 1. Make sure that your study is completed and closed and that UmtPlus is open on the device. UMT Manager HERE OR HERE 2. Your Computer and your Android Device must be connected to the same WiFi Local network. 3. By default UMT Plus is set (under Menu -> Preferences -> Communication) to Auto Detect Umt Manager IP. If your device is connected to the same WiFi local network as your UMT Manager: the communication will be set automatically, do not change anything. 4. Activate transfer mode in UMT Manager on your computer.
5a. Download configuration to the device 5b. Transfer data from the device 12 Scroll the tool bar over to find the icon to download your configuration. Once your study is complete, scroll the tool bar over to find the icon to transfer your data.
UMT Manager 13 Internet Communication 1. Make sure that your study is completed and closed and that UmtPlus is open on the device. 2. Your Android Device must be connected to the internet. 3. Deselect Auto Detect Umt Manager IP (under Menu > Preferences -> Communication -> Auto Detect Umt Manager IP). 4. Enter the Public IP address of the router (under Menu > Preferences -> Communication -> Umt Manager IP). Ask your IT department if you need help. 5. Port Forwarding: The router must be configured to route all incoming data on port 8687 to the computer running UMT Manager. Ask your IT department if you need help.
14 6. Activate transfer mode or Activate Auto-Transfer Mode must be selected in UMT Manager on your computer. 7a. Download configuration to the device 7b. Transfer data from the device Scroll the tool bar over to find the icon to download your configuration. Once your study is complete, scroll the tool bar over to find the icon to transfer your data.
15 WiFi Access on a Corporate Network Communication 1. Make sure that your study is completed and closed and that UmtPlus is open on the device. UMT Manager 2. Your Android Device must be connected to a WiFi router. 3. Deselect Auto Detect Umt Manager IP (under Menu > Preferences -> Communication -> Auto Detect Umt Manager IP). 4. Enter the IP address of the computer running UMT Manager (under Menu > Preferences -> Communication -> Umt Manager IP). The Umt Manager IP is found at the bottom of UMT Manager once Activate Transfer mode or Activate Auto-Transfer Mode is selected from UMT Manager (do NOT include the last 4 digits). If the two devices are not on the same sub-network, you might need to ask your IT department to configure your network to allow communication between them on a corporate network.
16 5. Activate transfer mode or Activate Auto-Transfer Mode must be selected in UMT Manager on your computer. 6a. Download configuration to the device 6b. Transfer data from the device Scroll the tool bar over to find the icon to download your configuration. Once your study is complete, scroll the tool bar over to find the icon to transfer your data.
17 Tethering & Portable Hotspot Communication Many Smartphones with data plan or Wi-Fi Hotspot devices offer the internet access for multiple computers or Wi-Fi devices. 1. Start your Wi-Fi Hotspot Device or set your Smartphone as Tethering & Portable Hotspot Android Device UMT Manager Smart Phone OR Wi-Fi Hotspot 2. Establish Wi-Fi Connection between your Android Device to your Wi-Fi Hotspot Device or to your Smartphone. 3. Establish Wi-Fi Connection between your PC to your Wi-Fi Hotspot Device or to your Smartphone. 4. Make sure that your study is completed and closed and that UmtPlus is open on the device. 5. Deselect Auto Detect Umt Manager IP (under Menu > Preferences -> Communication -> Auto Detect Umt Manager IP). 6. Enter the IP address of the computer running UMT Manager (under Menu > Preferences -> Communication -> Umt Manager IP). The Umt Manager IP is found at the bottom of UMT Manager once Activate Transfer mode or Activate Auto-Transfer Mode is selected from UMT Manager (do NOT include the last 4 digits). If the two devices are not on the same sub-network, you might need to ask your IT department to configure your network to allow communication between them on a corporate network.

19 Virtual Router Communication with Windows 7 UMT Manager 1. Virtual Router will only work with Windows 7, and NOT with the Starter Edition. 2. You must install Virtual Router onto your Portable PC (http://virtualrouter.codeplex.com). This Portable PC needs a WiFi connection to work with Virtual Router. 3. Your Computer and your Android Device must be connected to Virtual Router through the WiFi connection. 4. Make sure that your study is completed and closed and that UmtPlus is open on the device. 5. By default UMT Plus is set (under Menu > Preferences -> Communication) to Auto Detect Umt Manager IP. The communication will be set automatically, do not change anything.
20 6. Activate transfer mode in UMT Manager on your computer. 7a. Download configuration to the device 7b. Transfer data from the device Scroll the tool bar over to find the icon to download your configuration. Once your study is complete, scroll the tool bar over to find the icon to transfer your data.
21 Standard USB Cable Communication NOTE: Some devices do not support the virtual USB drive feature. Also, on some devices you need to set the "USB settings" in the Android setting to "Mass Storage". 1. Do NOT connect the android device to your computer with the USB Cable at this moment. UMT Manager 2. Make sure that your study is completed and closed and that UmtPlus is open on the device. USB Cable 3. Deselect Auto Detect Umt Manager IP (under Menu > Preferences -> Communication -> Auto Detect Umt Manager IP). 4. Under Menu >Preferences -> Communication -> Transfer Method, select Put data files in internal storage folder. For some devices (like the Asus eee Pad Transformer), you will have to select Put data files in external storage folder. Download configuration (.sco file) to the android device: 1. Connect the android device to your computer with the USB Cable. 2. On the android device, select Connect storage to PC 3. From your PC, a dialog box will appear. Open the UmtPlus Folder from the android device.
22 4. Copy the needed configuration files (.sco) from the Umt\Document Folder to the UmtPlus Folder of the android device. 5. On the android device, select Disconnect storage from PC or disconnect the device from the USB Cable. 6. Start UmtPlus from the device and scroll the tool bar over to find and tap the icon to download your configuration (.sco). 7. From the list, select the configuration file needed (.sco). Transfer data (.sda file) from the android device: 1. Do NOT connect the android device to your computer with the USB Cable at this moment. Scroll the tool bar over to find and tap the icon to transfer your data to the virtual USB drive on the android device. 2. Then, connect the android device to your computer with the USB Cable. 3. On the android device, select Connect storage to PC 4. A dialog box will appear on your PC. Open the Folder to see the availble.sda files from the device by openning the UmtPlus Folder. 5. Copy the needed study files (.sda) into the Umt\Document Folder. Your studies (.sda files) are now available for StatUmt. Note: If you do not delete the study files (.sda) from the device after copying them to your PC, you risk the possibility of duplicating the data by error. 6. On the android device, select Disconnect storage from PC or disconnect the device from the USB Cable.
23 Automated USB Cable Communication NOTE: Some devices do not support this feature. The Automated USB Cable Communication works with: Windows 7 or higher: Android Device version 2.1 or higher. Windows XP: Android Device version 3.2 or higher. With Windows XP, it could work, with no warranty, with Android Device version 2.1 to 3.1. If not working, you will need to use the Standard USB Cable Communication, as described on page 20 of this document. 1. Do NOT connect the android device to your computer with the USB Cable at this moment. UMT Manager 2. Make sure that your study is completed and closed and that UmtPlus is open on the device. USB Cable 3. Deselect Auto Detect Umt Manager IP (under Menu > Preferences -> Communication -> Auto Detect Umt Manager IP). 4. Under Menu >Preferences -> Communication -> Transfer Method, select Put data files in internal storage folder. For some devices (like the Asus eee Pad Transformer), you will have to select Put data files in external storage folder. 5. Select Create sda file(s) on study storage folder (under Menu > Preferences -> Communication -> Create sda file(s) on study storage folder). This step is not necessary but it will save automatically your study in sda file when ending it.
24 Download configuration (.sco file) to the android device: 1. Start Umt Manager from your PC and you may open the configuration that you want to transfer to your android device but, it is not necessary. 2. Connect the android device to your computer with the USB Cable. 3. From the Umt Manager menu, select Communication -> Portable Device File Transfer Utility (Android over USB) 4. If more than one android device is connected, select the right one. 5. To transfer the current Configuration file to the android device, select Write Current SCO to the Portable Device (if no configuration file is open in Umt Manager, this choice will be grey and will not work). 6. To transfer more than one Configuration file to the android device, select Write Multiple SCO to the Portable Device. From the Document folder, select the Configuration files to transfer to the android device and then click the Open button. All selected configurations will be transferred to the device.
25 7. Disconnect the device from the USB Cable. 8. Start UmtPlus from the device and scroll the tool bar over to find and tap the icon to download your configuration (.sco). 9. From the list, select the configuration file needed (.sco). Transfer data (.sda file) from the android device: 1. Do NOT connect the android device to your computer with the USB Cable at this moment. *Scroll the tool bar over to find and tap the icon to transfer your data to the internal storage folder on the android device. *Note: If you already set your android device to Create sda file(s) on study storage folder (under Menu > Preferences -> Communication -> Create sda file(s) on study storage folder), this step is not necessary (step 5 page 22). 2. Connect the android device to your computer with the USB Cable. 3. From the Umt Manager menu, select Communication -> Portable Device File Transfer Utility (Android over USB)
4. If more than one android device is connected, select the right one. 26 Check this box if you want to delete all transferred data from the Android Device after reading. 5. To read all studies (SDA files) from the android device, select Read All SDA from the Portable Device. 6. To read one or more studies (SDA files) from the android device, select Read SDA from the Portable Device. From the dialog box Read SDA files from the Device, select the studies (sda files) to transfer and click the OK button. All selected studies (sda files) will be transferred to the PC. 7. On the android device, select Disconnect storage from PC or disconnect the device from the USB Cable.
27 Automated data transfer (.sda file) from the android device: 1. Do NOT connect the android device to your computer with the USB Cable at this moment. 2. Make sure that your study is completed and closed and that UmtPlus is open on the device. 3. Deselect Auto Detect Umt Manager IP (under Menu > Preferences -> Communication -> Auto Detect Umt Manager IP). 4. Under Menu >Preferences -> Communication -> Transfer Method, select Put data files in internal storage folder. For some devices (like the Asus eee Pad Transformer), you will have to select Put data files in external storage folder. 5. Select Create sda file(s) on study storage folder (under Menu > Preferences -> Communication -> Create sda file(s) on study storage folder). 6. Connect the android device to your computer with the USB Cable. 7. From the desktop of your computer, select the Umt Manager (SDA auto transfer) The SDA Files from your android device, will be transfer automatically to your computer.
28 External Memory Device Communication Note: Some devices do not support external memory. Android Device USB Flash Drive OR SD Card UMT Manager 1. Make sure that your study is completed and closed and that UmtPlus is open on the device. 2. Insert the Memory Device (USB Flash Drive or SD Card) into the Android Device. 3. Deselect Auto Detect Umt Manager IP (under Menu > Preferences -> Communication -> Auto Detect Umt Manager IP). 4. Under Menu >Preferences -> Communication -> Transfer Method, select Put data files in internal storage folder. For some devices (like the Asus eee Pad Transformer), you will have to select Put data files in external storage folder.
29 5. Under Menu >Preferences -> Communication -> Storage folder, select the proper storage folder. SD Card (in this example) USB Flash Drive (in this example) Your External Memory Device (USB Flash Drive or SD Card) is now ready to use with UmtPlus. Download configuration (.sco file) to the android device: 1. Insert your External Memory Device (USB Flash Drive or SD Card) into your PC (Umt Manager). 2. From your PC, a dialog box will appear. Open the UmtPlus Folder from the External Memory Device (USB Flash Drive or SD Card). 3. Copy the needed configuration files (.sco) from the Umt\Document Folder to the UmtPlus Folder of the External Memory Device (USB Flash Drive or SD Card). 4. Close the UmtPlus Folder, remove the External Memory Device (USB Flash Drive or SD Card) from your PC (UmtPlus) and Insert it into your android device.
30 5. Start UmtPlus from the device and scroll the tool bar over to find and tap the icon to download your configuration (.sco). 6. From the list, select the configuration file needed (.sco). Transfer data (.sda file) from the android device: 1. Insert your External Memory Device (USB Flash Drive or SD Card) into your Android Device. 2. Scroll the tool bar over to find and tap the icon to transfer your data to the External Memory Device (USB Flash Drive or SD Card). 3. Remove the External Memory Device (USB Flash Drive or SD Card) from your Android Device and Insert it into your PC (UmtPlus). 4. A dialog box will appear on your PC. Open the Folder to see the availble.sda files from the External Memory Device (USB Flash Drive or SD Card) by openning the UmtPlus Folder. 5. Copy the needed study files (.sda) into the Umt\Document Folder. Your studies (.sda files) are now available for StatUmt. Note: If you do not delete the study files (.sda) from the External Memory Device (USB Flash Drive or SD Card) after copying them to your PC, you risk the possibility of duplicating the data by error.
