What is the Statewide Learning Management System (SLMS)? SLMS is built as Oracle PeopleSoft Enterprise Learning Management (ELM). SLMS is used for administering, tracking, and reporting classroom training and e learning programs. This enterprise wide learning management solution benefits the state by eliminating the need to maintain and administer 26 stand alone systems. SLMS was the first enterprise wide initiative in New York State to manage, deliver, and track online and classroom based training for all state employees. SLMS also provides training for non state workers requiring training from various state agencies. Overall llgoal: provide an efficient, i cost effective ti statewide t solution that t advances the performance of the state government workforce through training and education, while eliminating duplicative efforts across state agencies. 2
Statewide Learning Management System (SLMS) SLMS is the first enterprise IT shared services project undertaken by New York State All state employees as well as state contractors are learners in SLMS. Using SLMS, you can: Search for courses in statewide training catalogs Access the system from any computer, tablet, smartphone Access your training records in one location if you change agencies Submit requests for additional courses and classes to help meet your learning needs Track certifications needed to keep current in your occupation Enroll in thousands of courses to enhance and further your career 3
