Fully Subsidised Exam Preparation Course 2016/2017 Course Information Subject to government funding, we are able to offer a very limited number of places on our fully subsidised English Language course. Please note that places on the free course will not be allocated on a first come first served basis. They will be allocated according to the number of places available at each level following a selection process. If you wish to apply, we need to receive your completed and signed application form. Please read the Terms and Conditions carefully before you sign and be sure you understand all the information. If there is anything you do not understand, please contact the International Centre we will be happy to explain. All applications for this course must be made in person to the International Centre, which is located in Room 034 on the ground floor of the Brahan Building, Perth College UHI. Please bring your completed application form, documentation to support your residency in the Perthshire area (for example a copy of lease or bank letter) and evidence of your nationality in the form of your passport or EU residence card. All the applications will be assessed and places allocated. If you are to be offered a place, you will be sent a conditional offer letter. As soon as we receive your books and materials fee of 100 we will send you an unconditional offer and confirm your place on the course. Free Classes These free English Language classes are open to application by students who have: 1 Been resident in an EU country for at least 3 years but not if the EU residence was solely for the purpose of study; and 2 Are resident in the Perthshire area prior to the date of application for the course. Students must enrol for and complete the course of 34 weeks from 06 September 2016 02 June 2017 (week commencing 05 June 2017 will be exam week). Please note that students who do not complete the course (voluntarily or by being withdrawn) may be liable to pay the full subsidised fees of 2,300.00. Cambridge Exams Exams will be held in June 2017. Students will prepare for the following exams and, if they have met course requirements for attendance and progress and have passed the mock exam in March, will be entered for one exam free of charge in June 2017. Cambridge English Key (KET) = (CEFR A2) Cambridge English Preliminary (PET) = (CEFR B1) Cambridge English First (FCE) = (CEFR B2) Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) = (CEFR C1) Cambridge Exam Courses combine general English classes with specific exam preparation. Included in the course is: Tuition (18.33 hours per week) in classes of 20 students, maximum. End of course certificate. EU students on subsidised courses will be required to pay 100 prior to being accepted onto the course for essential course materials. During your course at Perth College UHI, we will do our best to make sure that the course and the school administration, is the best that we can provide. If there are any problems, please speak to a member of staff immediately so that we can help. You should tell us if you have any medical condition which could affect your ability to complete the course successfully or for which you need assistance. I wish to join the course of 34 weeks and agree to the following conditions: 1 I am over 18, or over 16, and have asked my parent or guardian to sign the form. 2 The books and materials fee of 100 is not refundable under any circumstances. 3 I will complete the full 34 weeks. 4 If I leave early, I will pay the full subsidised course fee ( 2,300.00). 5 I understand that the course requires full attendance and that students whose attendance is poor are not entitled to receive a College Certificate or be entered for assessments or examinations. Failure to meet requirements may result in withdrawal. 6 If I am ill, I will contact the International Centre to let them know. 7 I will be responsible for paying all living and subsistence expenses. 8 I understand that if I take part-time employment, I must ensure it does not conflict with attendance in class. 9 I need to follow the guidelines in the Student Charter and Disciplinary Code and I understand that the Language School may expel me if I am disruptive or abusive or take part in any criminal behaviour. In such a case I will pay the full fees for the part of the course I attended. 10 I understand that homework is a course requirement and that in addition to set homework, I must spend at least 2 hours per week on revision.
