2 Degree class by gender A greater proportion of females achieved first class degrees (13.6% compared to 10.2% of males). However, this was reversed when it came to upper second class degrees. 41.7% of males achieved this whereas 35.8% of females did so. 51.9% of males achieved a first or 2.1 which is more than the 49.4% of females. 45.0% 35.0% Degree Class by gender 25.0% % Women Men 5.0% First Class Upper second class Lower second class Third class/pass Unclassified The source for this was HEIDI 09-10

7 Student Complaints by Ethnicity / Gender/ Disability vs. Institutional Profile 2010/11 for comparison purposes The Equality and Diversity Advisory Group (EDAG) monitors the way in which the strategic objectives from the Equality and Diversity Statement are monitored. EDAG prepares an Annual Report by collating data from across the Institution regarding impact assessment of policies, procedures, guidance and regulatory matters in respect of equality. This student complaints data will be considered by this group as part of the Annual Report.
