ShipRite Network Setup for Windows 7 Users Before you start PLEASE NOTE: For peer to peer networking, designate your busiest POS workstation the ShipRite designated server! If your network ever goes down, you will still be in business on the server. PLEASE NOTE: You must network your computers physically before you network the ShipRite software. Your computer technician will help you with this issue or you can just follow the directions that came with your networking kit. To test and see if you are ready to network the ShipRite software, go to each computer and double click on the Network icon. You should see each computer in the workgroup/servers listed by the name of each computer. If this condition is met, you are now ready to proceed. Install ShipRite V10 on each workstation. PLEASE NOTE: There are many ways to set up a network, but, you must follow the steps below to set up the ShipRite software network operation our way if you wish to receive technical support from us. PLEASE NOTE: Windows NT users cannot load ShipRite on a NT Server. There are no exceptions; if you do this and your server fails, pleasedon t call us. PLEASE NOTE: Peer to Peer: In order to set up shared access of the ShipRite database you must first establish a shared folder on a designated server machine. Once this is done, each workstation must map to this shared folder in order to access theshiprite database. PLEASE NOTE: Novell: Rights that have to be assigned to the user are RWCEMFA. Install the ShipRite software on the client pc first, then install to the Novell mapped network drive. Network File Sharing On The Server Page 1
On the server, double click on Computer. Right click on the C:\ drive. Click Share with. Click Advanced sharing. From the Sharing tab, click on Advanced Sharing. Make sure that the checkbox for Share this folder has a check mark in it. Page 2
Set the Share name: to C Drive Network. (Note:You may use any name you wish to identify the folder you re sharing.) Click the Permissions button below the comments text area to open the Permissions window. Select Everyone in the upper group box. Page 3
In the lower group box, make sure that you allow full control to all users by clicking the appropriate checkbox. When you re finished, click the Apply button, then click the OK button. Go to the Security tab and click the Edit button. Page 4

If Everyone is not an option in the upper group box, add it by clicking the Add button and type Everyone in the appropriate text area. (Note:See the image below for reference.) Page 6
Drive Mapping On The Workstation On each workstation, right click on Network. Click on Map network drive. Select a drive letter to associate with the shared folder by clicking the drop down menu for Drive:. Select the folder to share on the network by clicking the Browse button. Make sure that there is a checkmark in the Reconnect at logon checkbox. Click Finish to complete the mapping process. Page 7
Click the Windows Start button in the lower left part of the screen to bring up the search bar. In the search field, type run and press Enter. Type shiprite.ini in the text field that pops up and click the OK button. Make sure the file that opens looks identical to the image below. Page 8
If the drive letters do not match the ones you have selected, please change the drive letters. (Note:Our example uses F:\, however, you may have selected a different drive letter) If you had to make changes to the file, click File and then click Save. Locate the ShipRite shortcut icon on the desktop. Right click the ShipRite icon and then click on Properties. Make sure the drive letter in the Target: text box matches the drive letter you have mapped to your network folder. (Note:See the image below for reference.) When you re finished, click the Apply button, then click the OK button. Repeat the drive mapping process for each computer on the network. Congratulations! You are now ready to begin using ShipRite software! Page 9
