e-to accquire the best skills in the field of research work. f-to accquire suffient knowledge about recent advances in diagnostic tools for oral diseases. g-the student must be well trained for all conventional radiographic techniques. h-to accquire knowledge concerning the recent advances in oral radiology 2-Intended Learning Outcomes (ILOs) a- Knowledge & Understanding: a1- To be trained in writing a clear descriptive report for the most common oral lesions. a2- Getting the best skills in making good differentiation for similar radiographic features. a3- Evaluating recent advances in diagnostic techniques regarding Oral Radiology field. b-intellectual Skills: b1- To be trained, through case presentations, how to solve the problem of differential diagnosis of the common oral lesions. b2- To be able to formulate a thesis project. b3- Using the recent radiographic techniques in diagnosing head & neck lesions. c-professional and Practical Skills: c1- Students should gain experience in oral tissue changes, that lead to different clinical and radiographic presentation of the head& neck region. c2- They should be able well trained for all conventional radiographic techniques regarding techniques, and the knowledge of their normal anatomical landmarks. c3- The should know the basics of specialized radiographic techniques, known to identify the main structures in the head& neck region. d-general and Transferable Skills d1- The student should get self confidence in dealing with diagnosing the main lesions affecting the head& neck region.
d2-he must be trained to do most of the departmental job in a team work fashion e - Attitude: e1- The student must express excellent behavior with his colleagues, assisstant team and patients e2- They should behave in a decent maner with their headquarters. 3-Academic Standards 3a- National Academic Standards: There are no particular National Academic Reference Standards (NARS). The program taught at the Faculty is approved by the Supreme Council for Universities in Egypt. Radiology 6-Programme Admission Requirements The selected postgraduate students must obtain Bachelor s Degree of Dental Medicine and Surgery with at least grade Good. Also, it is determined on the grade obtained in oral surgery course. Good is the minimal required scores. Faculty council put certain principals for selecting postgraduate students: 7-Regulations for progression and program completion Student must fulfill requirements required for completion of the program. Students must attend at least 75% of practical/ clinical sessions of each course. Students who fail to meet this minimal percent of attendance may be prevented from attending exam in this specific course based on department council recommendation and decision of faculty council. To progress to the second part, student must pass in all the courses of the first part. The first part exam is hold twice per year; in April and November. Also, the second part exam is hold twice per year; April and November. The student has three chances for passing the first part exam. In the evaluation of postgraduate student performance, the following letter grades are used: Excellent 85% Very good 75% - less than 85% Good 65% - less than 75% Fair 60% - less than 65% In order that a student passes in a course, his grades should be above the percent for passing provided that he gets at least 60% of the total exam grades. A course in which a grade of less than 60% is received must be repeated at the discretion of the department. The grade in the
repeated course, whether it is higher or lower than the original grade, replaces the original grade with grade fair 60%. All failing and incomplete grades must be removed before a certificate is conferred. Further, students must demonstrate clinical competency in all areas of patient management and treatment. Any student who fails to meet these academic standards in a given semester may not be permitted to pass the exam. A student who is absence in the exam with acceptable excuse is awarded the grade earned in the reset exam.
