This portal provides access to Smiths Medical s online product training. A registration code is required to access the portal. Registration codes are issued by the Smiths Medical Professional Services Department. This code is required to set up an account with the Smiths Medical Online Training Portal. If you do not have a registration code please contact the educator at your facility or email Smiths Medical Professional Services department at online.education@smiths-medical.com. The Smiths Medical Online Portal can be accessed from any PC that connects to the internet and meets the following requirements: Internet Explorer 5.x or above Speakers for audio portion of many of the modules Browser with Flash plug-in installed o Visit the Adobe web site for the system requirements: http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/systemreqs/ Some modules require the use of Adobe PDF Reader which can be obtained free of charge here: http://get.adobe.com/reader/ Note: You may need to set the resolution of your monitor to 1280 x 1024 in order to view some of the training modules. To change your screen resolution, right click on your desktop, select Properties, select the Settings Tab, and change your screen resolution here. 2
Enter the registration code in the form field Registration Code under Create Account. And then click on Continue. 3
After you enter your Registration Code it is time to set up your personal account. This is a two-page process. For page one of the registration process, complete all the fields on the Create New User Account page and then click on the Next button. 4
On page two of the registration process, complete all the fields. Those marked with a red asterisk are required to proceed. 5
Once you are logged into the system, you will see the Courses you have been assigned. Click on the course name to launch the session. Participants must complete the Course, Test, and Evaluation to obtain a certificate of completion. The Course section contains the course overview, course content/video, and related reference materials. The header lists the course name and description. The Name column lists the title of each item. The Description column provides important information about the training material. In this example the first item is the Course Overview, a PDF file that needs to be reviewed before moving on to the course content. After reviewing the READ FIRST Course Overview document click on the title of the course video to begin. In this example the course content is named Course Video CADD -Solis Pump Click to Start.- click this link. 6
Click on the Video Only button to launch the video portion of the training material. The Video Only button will ensure that the entire training module is displayed without the need for scrolling. Note: You may need to set the resolution of your monitor to 1280 x 1024 in order to view some of the training modules. The example below is for the CADD -Solis Pump Training Module, however the process is similar for all training courses. In order to Start and Pause the videos or interactive modules look for these symbols: Play buttons typically looks like this: Pause buttons typically look like this: These symbols can generally be found in the player bar at the bottom of the screen. If it is not visible, hover your cursor over this area to display. 7
After you are done with this portion of the course, close the Video Only view by clicking on the Course Menu button to return to the main menu. Please follow the steps for successful course completion in the Course Overview. These steps include reviewing the reference materials provided. Once this is complete you are ready to proceed to the Test. Once back to the main menu click on the Test button on the left menu bar to access the course test. Please note that some course videos may include a practice test. These are practice tests only. You must select Test on the left menu to enter the Testing module and successfully complete the course. Next, click on the Take Test button. The test length, type, and passing score may vary for each course. Please refer to the description in the header for this information. 8
If you are unable to complete the entire test at one time, click on the Save button. You will be able to log-in at a later date and finish where you left off. Upon completion of the test click the Complete button. The next screen will display your score and a message indicating if you passed or failed. If you fail, you are permitted to retake the test until you obtain a passing score. To review your scored test, you can click on the number under the Test Attempts column. This will open your test for review. A red X indicates an incorrect response. 9
Once you pass the test you must complete a course evaluation to receive a Certificate of Completion. Click on the Take Evaluation button to proceed. Upon completion of the Evaluation, click on the Complete button 10
