USING LUHS FIREPASS VPN (VISTA/WINDOWS 7) 2009 LUHS Firepass VPN (Virtual Private Network) will allow you to connect to LUHS systems that are inside the LUHS Intranet. For example: EPIC, Lawson, Kronos, etc. 1. Make sure you are connected to your DSL or Cable Modem. (Note: Dial up will work however, it will be slower) a. Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher and ActiveX must be turned on. b. Please note that for users who are accessing Epic Hyperspace via Citrix and VPN, and you have installed any firewall software (typically Norton Internet Security Suite), then the new Citrix client software may not connect to the server. In this case, a user will see the Citrix splash screen only and not a log in screen. To resolve this problem, users need to have TCP port 2598 opened through their firewall software. c. Turn off all firewalls via Control Panel, Windows Firewall. If you have Windows Live OneCare installed, please go to page 7 first. 2. Enter https://firepass.luhs.org 3. Enter your Loyola Universal ID 4. Enter your Password (assigned by the Help Desk) 1
5. Click on Logon 6. The first time you logon, you will be prompted to create a new password. Enter the assigned password and then enter your new password and enter your new password again in the Confirm Field. Your new password must meet the following criteria: - Must start with a alphabetical character - Must contain at least one numeric and one special character (neither the numeric nor the special character should be in the last character position of the password - Valid characters are `~,.;: []{}+=-_)(*&^%$#@!<>\ - Must not contain more than three consecutive occurrences of the same character - Must not contain full Employee Name - Minimum of 8 characters PASSWORD EXPIRE EVERY 90 DAYS 2
7. You are now required to enter your Username and New password and click on Logon. 8. Click on LUHS SSL VPN 9. The very first time you use Firepass SSL VPN, you will be required to install the FN5 Driver Files and F5Networks 10. Click on Network Access 3
11. Click on Show Info 12. Click on Download standalone VPN Driver Installer Driver Update 13. Click on Run 14. Press Continue when the pop up box appears and then click on Install Adapter 4
15. Click Install to install F5 Networks 16. The F5 VPN Adapter Setup will state if you have successfully installed VPN. Click OK 17. Click Continue to get back to the Firepass screen and you should now see your Network Access Connection successfully established. 5
18. Minimize this screen and open a new Internet Explorer session. DO NOT CLOSE THE FIREPASS Window. Closing the window will close and disconnect your SSL VPN connection to Loyola. 19. You can go to any Loyola Intranet site by entering the address of the site in the address field or clicking on a favorite. For EMR access, enter http://emr.lumc.edu. For Loyola Wired access, enter http://portal.luhs.org (Note: It make take a few seconds) 20. If you are using Epic, you will need to also install Citrix. Click on the link and accept all defaults. 21. Once you are finished using the Firepass SSL VPN, click on red X to terminate your session. It is extremely important to properly logout when finished with your Firepass session by clicking on the red x. You will then receive a message that you have successfully logged out. 6

If you are trying to connect from Hines VA, the Non-Research areas have PC s and can get to the EMR page without using VPN. In the Hines Research areas you will need to use VPN, however since many of these PC s are locked down, the PC will not allow you to run VPN as the PC s will not load the F5 Network software. You cannot access VPN from a Neoware. Please contact Hines VA for further information. Windows Live OneCare If when activating the SSL portion you receive the following error message and you have Windows Live OneCare installed: "The modem or other connecting device has reported an error," please make the following setting changes: 1. Go into the Live OneCare menu 2. Click on Change Settings 3. Select the Ports and Protocols tab 4. Select Add 5. Enter a name of F5 VPN Port 6. Select TCP 7. Use Port 44444 to 44444 8. Select Outbound in the connections field 9. Select Internet in the Scope field 10. Select Save and Apply 7
