FTP Setting User Guide 1. What is FTP function of IP camera? FTP is a standard network protocol used to transfer files from one host or to another host over a TCP-based network, such as the Internet.FTP server is a network storage device, like cloudy Storage. People can download from or upload to FTP server. In IP Camera,FTP function is used for sending the pictures which IP Camera captures. So if you want to setup FTP, firstly you should have a FTP server with a user and password. 2. How to setup FTP in IP Camera? 2.1 I have a FTP sever with a user and password 2.1.1 Configure DNS Server (Important).Get your local DNS server information from your router or ISP and input them. PS: If you don t know how to check the DNS server infos, please use DNS server which is provided by Google.(Primary DNS server:8.8.8.8 Secondary DNS server:8.8.4.4) 2.1.2 Login the IP Camera, go to Configure---Advanced Configure---FTP Configure 2.1.3 Enable FTP function and fill in the informations of your FTP server. Click OK to save settings. (Note: The FTP informations that picture shows is only for reference ) Server address: (input IP address or Domain name of FTP server.) Port: (input FTP server port) Username & Password: (FTP server User) FTP Directory: the path of FTP server (Note: If you don t know how to set it, please input /.)
2.1.4 Get images from IP Camera every few seconds via FTP When FTP Configure setup is finished, go in Capture Configure to enable capture function and FTP upload, set frequency and schedule of capturing images. Click OK to save settings. Then the IP Camera will keep capturing and sending images to your FTP server every few seconds if it is in your schedule you set.
2.1.5 Get alarm images from IP Camera via FTP When FTP Configure setup is finished, go to Alarm Configure---Motion Detection, Enable Motion Detection, set Motion area and alarm schedule, Enable capture images and FTP upload function. Click OK to save settings. (Note: Make sure Capture is enabled otherwise the camera won t send images only text when alarm. ) 2.2 I don t have FTP server 2.2.1 How to create a FTP server Download a FTP server software, such as Serv-u FTP Server, Xlight FTP Server, Filezilla Sever Ftp and so on. The following is an example of creating FTP server with Xlight FTP Server software for reference. 1) Open Xlight FTP Server software and Click to setup your own FTP server. 2) IP address: choose your PC s IP address.(don t use Dynamic IP if you don t know how to setup.) 3) Port: 21 4) Protocol: FTP
5) Create a login user for this FTP server. 1) Click to go in user management and click to add a new user. 2) Set a username and password(any username and password are ok) 3)Choose a directory as FTP server home directory (The IP Camera images will be upload here ) 4)Click OK to finish settings.
6) Setup the user permission.(note: IP camera will upload images to your server, so FTP server has to be open Write right for the users) 7) Run your FTP server Choose your FTP server and click to run. will turn to,that means your FTP server is working. You can try to use FTP client (Filezilla etc.) to login your server with username and password.
NOTE: Now the FTP server is only working in your local network, others people or when you go out, it can t be logined through external internet. You have to make port forwarding in your router, and then your FTP server will work in external internet. How to make port forwarding? Please refer to Port forwarding User Guide 2.2.2 My FTP server information 1) After port forwarding, the FTP server you set now is working on the whole internet Anyone who has username and password could login it to download or upload. 2) What is my FTP server address? And other info? Server address: (external ip address, e.g.113.108.119.20 ) Port: 21(others if you change it before) Username&Password: (set it by yourself before) 3) How to know my external ip address (Wan ip address)? Google search: what is my ip address, it will tell you that. 4) You can also use DDNS instead of Wan IP address. (About DDNS, please refer to DDNS setting User Guide) 2.2.3 Now you have a FTP server with username and password.
