Design in Poland Transition to Modernity

Foreword by Dr. Alicja Adamczak President / Patent Office of the Republic of Poland Design as applied arts has, for the last two decades of the past century, gained particular importance in the modern economy. It has become a business and affected the development of the so-called creative businesses, as well as the rate of the economic growth, the position of companies and countries in the globalized competitive market. In the knowledge-based economy, design is undoubtedly one of the stimuli for the economic growth. It is no coincidence that countries which are world leaders in innovation attach special importance to industrial design in the wider economy, as well as in the services sector. The application of design, while being an indicator of success, influences the reputation of products, and increases their competitiveness in the global market. According to various studies, companies which invest in industrial design earn higher profits and obtain better sales results in a shorter time. Design is one of the cheapest ways of bringing innovation into products, not exclusively through new styles but through increasing a product s functionality, facilitating use and transport, or even recycling used materials. Moreover, design has recently reached out to influence more and more the non-productive spheres, so far rather undervalued but which have great impact on the quality of our lives and work, namely, public and social space.. Considering the role of design in economic growth, the increase of innovation, enterprise and competition, a strategy of investing in design in Poland as a national brand has become one of the priorities in the Polish Government Operational Program Innovative Economy. The granting of industrial property rights as well as support of innovative processes, raising social awareness and education on the subject, are all part of the Polish Patent Office activities in the field of intellectual property (IP) protection. For many years the Patent Office has conducted numerous initiatives organization of trainings, conferences, symposia, exhibitions in Poland and in other countries, which assist its work program and support its priorities. The exhibition Design in Poland Transition to Modernity, is not only proof of great progress that has occurred in our country in the transformation period which started twenty years ago, but also of the extraordinary role of the design in that transformation, the image of Polish products, and the Polish economy. At present, with the high supply of goods of identical or similar technical or functional properties, it is the aesthetic and practical values that are taken into account when deciding on the choice of the product. That is why the legal protection of a product within the area of industrial designs should be an indispensable strategic element of each company in the process of market implementation of a product. Such a protection will not limit the artistic creation. What is more, it will stimulate and protect innovation and creativity ensuring economic profits, as well as exclusiveness and uniqueness of the results of the creative ideas and activities. The Patent Office of the Republic of Poland highly appreciates the activities of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) for promoting respect for IP in the globalized, competitive world, and for offering a forum for cooperation and a climate for discussion on the most vital questions relating to IP protection in the world, devising common standards for promoting creation and innovation, and sustainable development of the IP protection in all countries with various legal systems. I would like to thank Francis Gurry, Director General of WIPO, for the possibility of presenting the exhibition Design in Poland - Transition to Modernity during the Forty-Ninth Series of Meetings of the Assemblies of the Member States of WIPO. Although it displays only a small portion of Polish design over the past years, it still shows the important role of design in modern economy. I am deeply convinced of the need for further joint activities to raise awareness as to the benefits of legal protection of design, which improves the safety of business transactions in the globalized economy and safeguards the rights of their creators.

Foreword by Dr. Remigiusz A. Henczel Ambassador / Permanent Mission of the Republic of Poland to the UN Office in Geneva Foreword by Dr. Francis Gurry Director General / World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Industrial design has been in existence for quite long, yet only in our time are we coming to realize its enormous importance for the economy and culture as well as its influence in all spheres of our lives. Design surrounds us and, in a somewhat unconscious way, shapes and is shaped by our perception of the world and our needs, being always closely connected with our sensitivity and a sense of aesthetics. In today s globalized world it crosses the borders of countries very quickly becoming a common value of all nations. Polish design also makes its contribution in the process of shaping the reality, not only at home but also internationally. Polish designers enjoy more and more occasions to present their achievements abroad. Thanks to their creativity and originality they find appreciation both in their own country and in international markets thus becoming advocates of the Polish culture and artistic creation. In Poland we have a lot of great academic centres, public and private schools, which deal with the education of young creators and assist in fostering young talents. There are also numerous centres and design studios which offer cooperation between designers and entrepreneurs. The present exhibition Design in Poland Transition to Modernity is another event organized in Geneva in cooperation with the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland within the last several years. I am pleased that it coincides with the time Poland holds the Presidency in the Council of the European Union. The title of the exhibition Transition to Modernity as well as its certain historical perspective prove that design has been the area of artistic expression of Polish creators independent of former political or economic restrictions. It is my conviction that modern Polish design will also capture your attention and win your appreciation with its originality, ingenuity and a sense of form. I truly believe that it will become part of a new perception of our country. I would like to extend my special thanks to the World Intellectual Property Organization which enabled the presentation of this exhibition. I do hope that this remarkable event will make Polish design an even more recognizable global Polish brand, a synonym of modernity and growth. It is with great pleasure that the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) is hosting the Design in Poland Transition to Modernity exhibition, which showcases the achievements of Poland s designers and demonstrates why the Made in Poland label has earned such international recognition and respect. I thank the Polish Government, in particular the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland, and the Permanent Mission of Poland to the United Nations Office at Geneva, for sharing with us this remarkable exhibition. Design is much more than aesthetics. Design is the language of communication of objects. Through its design, an object can communicate function, values or attitude. Design differentiates one product from another, especially in areas where the technical possibilities for differentiation have been exhausted. Moreover, the ability to think critically, and to visualize innovative solutions to problems in relation to usability, form and ergonomics, makes designers key players in shaping the way we live. It is for this reason that WIPO chose Designing the Future as the theme for this year s World Intellectual Property Day. The Design in Poland Transition to Modernity exhibition offers an outstanding retrospective of Polish innovation in the field of design. The works featured here exemplify Polish creativity across a wide range of products, from medical equipment and vehicles to household appliances and furniture. Good design not only makes products easier and safer to use, it also involves decisions about the materials from which they are made and their projected life-span key factors in how these products will impact on our environment. Sustainable design seeks to minimize a product s total carbon footprint, from its conception to its re-use. The inflatable blow armchair, made out of 100% recyclable paper, is just one example on display in this exhibition. The striking display of Polish designs also illustrates the commercial importance of industrial designs. When the functional elements of an object do not differ significantly from product to product, their design or appearance is likely to be one of the major determinants of success in the marketplace. The international intellectual property system offers a means through which inventors, creators and designers the world over can protect their works and obtain reward for their efforts, while making them available to the public. At WIPO, we work closely with our 184 Member States to promote a better understanding of the benefits of an efficient, effective and balanced intellectual property system. Around 700,000 applications for industrial design protection are filed around the world each year in diverse areas of industry and commerce, from consumer electronics and bicycles to fashion and furniture. Through the Hague System for the International Registration of Industrial Designs, WIPO offers designers and companies a rapid, cost-effective route for protecting their designs against unauthorized copying and imitation in international markets. Design brings style to innovation. We are privileged to be able to enjoy such a rich and varied display of Polish design, and I wish you great pleasure in viewing this wonderful exhibition.

Flying without Borders

Margański & Mysłowski Design, especially in such an elite area like aviation, is of great importance. Design is a perfect combination of beauty and practical function. The Orka airplane is a Polish contribution to worldwide trends in the airplane industry. When designing the airplane the producer took into account not only comfort and safety of its use but also the pleasure of possessing something as captivating in its nature as an airplane. Aviacom Freedom helps innovation. This belief is well exemplified by the developments in Polish plane construction. After the World War I, when Poland regained its independence, the country successfully competed on a global scale in the production of combat and sports aircraft. New wing inventions including a type, a rudder and a caisson, respectively designed by Pulawski, Rudlicki and Misztal, were revolutionary in the 1930 s. Technical and industrial aviation traditions still play an important part in Poland today. Technical Universities educate aviation specialists and plane production is running. Some of the world s biggest aviation companies have design departments located within Poland. Polish aviation component companies produce components for modern military and civil planes. In recent times the creation of small companies producing planes is a special phenomenon in Poland. Aviacom was established in 2005 by a group of professionals fascinated by light aviation. The AF-129 was designed by Andrzej Frychewicz and his team. Characteristic features of the AF-129 include a pushing propeller, double-beam fuselage, inverted Rudlicki rudder, significantly lengthened flap wing with laminar profile designed by Professor Ostrowski and an undercarriage with a front wheel. These features give the AF-129 a competitive advantage in the light sport aircraft category. The AF-129 is an example of innovative functional design created by leading constructors. Delphia Yachts Sunreef The process of designing is one of the most important phases in striving for perfection. All of the currently produced Delphia yachts are created by renowned designer Andrzej Skrzat. These projects are put by our team of design engineers into the latest fully integrated CAD Catia 3D software, and then an adequate programme for CNC machine is prepared. All the details of the yacht from the shape and the structure of the hull to the top of the mast - are subject to multiple optimization. Due to the advanced software one can check the smallest details regarding ergonomics, neuralgic points and structural integrity. Each element of the yacht is treated as part of a complex conception of the project and adapted according to the distribution of the weight of the boat, functionality and maximum user-friendliness. Only such an approach can guarantee the desired final result a yacht that one can be proud of. Sunreef Yachts was founded in 2000 by two energetic French businessmen. Francis and Nicolas Lapp, father and son, both have innovative ideas and a passion for sailing. The constant change in new yacht designs is a direct result of the demand for Sunreef products. The family run business is based in Gdansk, a city famous for its seafaring traditions. Sunreef Yachts has revolutionized the yachting market after launching its first large luxury catamaran Sunreef 74 CHE. In its first decade, Sunreef Yachts has become the top company in its field. Thanks to a carefully chosen team of experienced and inventive naval architects and designers together with advanced production technologies, it has gained recognition and respect in the demanding yacht building market. Today, over 50 Sunreef yachts, both private and chartered, are sailing around the globe. In order to complement its production activity and give its clients comprehensive and professional service, Sunreef has established its own charter agency Sunreef Yachts Charter and Yacht Management Department. Malafor Zieta The Malafor company creates and sells designer furniture under its own brand, for example the Blow sofa or Trunks. It also provides industrial designs for other companies. Apart from strictly commercial activity, Malafor designs objects that can hardly be classified as commercial, albeit they are not devoid of usefulness. Sometimes the firm invents objects for the sake of new functions, but sometimes it is the object itself that conceives a new function. Although Malafor is extremely serious about the utility of its designs, its approach towards the appearance and the concept is very open. Blow sofa is made from 100% recyclable air bags. It is an incredibly inexpensive sofa, and an easy one to transport one only has to inflate the bags to start using it. And when the cushions get dirty, they are simply replaced with new ones! Got an idea?...write it down on your sofa! Material: air bags (two layers of paper + one layer of plastic bag) + metal rack + rubber strap Dimensions (inflated): width: 180 cm, height: 90 cm Trunk is a seat made from a piece of oak wood cut crosswise and dressed in stainless steel either with a shiny, mirror-like, or colour paint finish. The trunk has a handle, so it can easily be taken anywhere. Material: oak wood, steel sheet, aluminium stripe, aluminium line Zieta assumes that designing starts with understanding the nature of material. With this knowledge it searches for high technology methods of processing steel. The firm is strongly connected with industry and design is an interface between aesthetics and novelty of the collection. Zieta s Plopp stool and Chippensteel 0.5 chair are the best example of its philosophy. Its designers go far beyond creating plain furniture and engage in the creation of public space. Plopp stool is the bestseller of Zieta Prozessdesign company. This unique and playful form gives the impression of an inflated toy, and has been produced by FiDU technology. Chippensteel 0.5 a chair of unparalleled shape and functionality is a response to the first chair in the ZIETA collection, produced in 2009. The FiDU technology which was applied to create the abovementioned products is an unconstrained deformation through internal pressure, that is deformation made with the pressure of two steel forms welded together at the edges. Enjoying the Early Years

Bajo Bajo is a one-man project of Wojciech Bajor, an architect and stage designer. In 1990, in the vicinity of Krakow, both a design atelier and a wooden toy manufacturing plant were established. The interrelations between the nature of wood, production technology, process of creating form, and pure playing revealed an attractive area for design. As a result, Bajo became a way of individual realisation of architecture, interpreted as a growth of symbolic imagination and a process of setting spatial relations. Trzy Myszy Ergo Good design emerges from the beauty of simple and little things. It is particularly crucial to teach and shape children s taste from early childhood. The first things children are acquainted with are toys. Trzy Myszy ideas arise out of the experience of fun and play with the owner s four children. Many conceptions of toys were actually prompted by the children. They also check their functionality and quality. The company strives to make toys that inspire children to discover the world in a creative way. They attach great importance to the aesthetic dimension of toys and the quality of the materials that are used. The toys can be decorated by children. It only depends on their (and their parents ) imagination whether they use the templates or labels prepared by Trzy Myszy, or they paint something themselves. The company just provides the possibilities. The toys are made out of a solid five-layer cardboard making them difficult to damage. Good design is an attractive appearance, user-friendliness and perfect quality. Ergo Design aims at satisfying the needs of users and offering an entrepreneur a product that will bring the expected profit. Creating a successful product demands from the designer not only talent but also knowledge on the lifestyles of the users, their preferences, habits and limitations, and also, perhaps most importantly, consideration of the economic cost-effectiveness criteria of the project. A good product has to be truly exceptional. The combination of a creative approach to a given problem, ability to observe behaviour of the users and knowledge about technology becomes the source of innovative solutions. This is how an added value of a product comes to existence, meaning a factor that makes consumers buy this particular product, choosing it from a range of similar, but not the same products. The X-lander XV baby-carriage was created especially for busy parents. The most important features that distinguish the product are: easiness when changing configuration; a compact size when folded; multigrade regulation; a light, solid construction; an easy and intuitional folding system; many additional accessories and an attractive design. Designing a multifunctional baby-carriage is a multi stage process. A complicated structure is dictated by the need to guarantee adequate ergonomic and functional standards, both for a child and a parent. The baby-carriage is intended for children at the age of 0 30 months, which involves a change of user configurations arising out of the need to adapt to the changing size of a child. Simple Design is a self-expression and an expression of the world around us through spatial structures. Iwona Kosicka of Simple Toys is aware of the aesthetic factor and tries not to lose an open, sensitive way of looking at the world. A stimulus to create the PATATAY rocking-chair was the eagerness to shape the taste and imagination of a child. PATATAY means carefully elaborated forms, each of the little animals is made to individual order, and hand-made. Simple / Iwona Kosicka ul. Św.Jana 6d, 62-860 Opatówek, www.patatay.pl

Looking to a Brighter Side of Life

Marta Niemywska Goshico Marta Niemywska is a designer and graphic artist. Through incessant observation of the surrounding world she tries to find compelling topics to work on. She has completed projects that are typically designs as well as several artistic initiatives and combines media and multidimensionality in approaching a specific topic. Sitting on the grass a seat covered with synthetic grass that can be used both at home and outdoors. It is waterproof and UV-resistant. Size and material: 45 cm 45 cm, waterproof plate, synthetic grass. LolliLED skipping-rope-torch that due to a dynamo, batteries and LED lamps installed in its handles, is also a lamp supplied with the energy generated during playing. The construction of LolliLED makes it possible to hang it on a terrace or in a tent. Two torches appear after detaching the rope. For Goshico, design is a way to express the ideas from which the works are created, shaped in individual style. Design combines many elements: shape, colour, inspiration. The company s products need to fulfil the basic principle of design attractive appearance accompanied by practicality. When realizing a new project Goshico is inspired by various industrial design traditions (from Persian carpet-weaving to Polish folk art), often looking deep into the past and other cultures, to re-establish their meaning in combination with contemporary forms and materials. The company s philosophy is creation of a limited series of hand-made accessories collections. Goshico bags are made of high quality ecological felt and ornamented with embroidered motifs. Each collection has various colour versions and a different design of bags and of accessories, such as a case for a cell-phone, a wallet or a vanity bag. Goshico bags are designed especially for a demanding woman of the modern world. Inside the bag there is a pleasant surprise a carefully finished interior made of satin of an intensive colour, and a necessary zipped pocket. Mowo Studio Moho Design Mowo Studio is concerned with designing objects for everyday use under its Mowo brand. Currently, the focus is on designing for industry. Lately in Poland, the awareness of the significance of industrial design as an important pillar of economic development has constantly been growing. Mowo is glad to be part of this process. The company s portfolio is broad as its projects concern many areas of business. The variety of the realized projects is important to the company. Beaver s job is an example of the inspiration by the world of nature and an interpretation of a particular phenomenon. Mowo was fascinated by the tree branches gnawed at by the beavers, however not overthrown, which despite the significant devastation still endure the pressure of the whole tree together with its top. Mowo designers sought to achieve a similar result by making stools from one piece of wood where the material is heavily extracted but remains stable. Deciding when the work on the trunk is finished is a question of intuition. The stools may seem fragile but they are actually durable and resistant. Depending on the need, the trunk may serve as a seat or a stool. The trunks are hand-made from birch or linden wood, and every one of them is unique. Finishing: natural wood or painted wood. Diameter: 28 35 cm, height: 40 43 cm. MOWOstudio Monika Elikowska-Opala, Wojciech Opala, ul. Kraszewskiego 28/8, 50-229 Wrocław, www.mowostudio.pl The Moho Design Sp. z o.o. was established in 2004 by Magdalena Lubińska and Michał Biernacki. The novelty and simplicity of the idea are the main factors of Moho s success. The founders of the company aspire to discover new directions in carpet design and realization of projects using high technology, simultaneously drawing from tradition. Magda Lubińska restored the old Polish method of weaving cloth on loom from a thick woollen yarn. In the products a perfect technology is blended with a good design that refers to the roots of patternmaking, e.g. folk motives. The success of Moho is partly due to the high quality of the products and the material used, such as, for example, three-layered mat cloth, weaved from the New Zealand wool on the looms. The cloth is resistant to deformation and friction and does not absorb water and dust. The users can also choose several other materials (raf, leo, taf and fri) in many colours. The carpets can be coloured on demand according to Pantone s colour system and can be of any size. As the Moho products are made to order, the company can certainly be considered friendly and close to the user. Moho Design Sp. z o.o. Plac Grunwaldzki 8-10, VIIp. Vox When new products are designed at Meble Vox, they apply the following values: co-creation, design and accessibility. New designs are created in cooperation with the users. Vox perceives design as a connection of an idea, emotion, beauty and functionality. Its goal is to address the genuine needs of a human being that lives here and now, by solving any problem connected with furnishing. Sophia Lamp a design by the group Babaakcja (Klementyna Jankiewicz, Zofia Konarska, Monika Ostaszewska), received an Honourable Mention at the 2w1 contest organized by Meble Vox. The design is captivating with its fresh concept on the verge of fun design. Sophia is an unusually feminine night lamp with a plain, modern shape. The decorative lampshade is made of perforated material with openings that can be used to place earrings or other decorations in it, such as crystals, flowers or feathers. The concentration of holes in the lampshade is varied, which creates an interesting pattern, even without placing any jewellery. It is the decorations that make each piece unique. This is a completely new concept for storing and presenting jewellery. It inspires creativity, relieves boredom and routine. We were inspired by the mother of one of us, Zosia, who likes to hang her collection of earrings on a small lamp the designers say about their idea. Material: ceramic base, plastic shade. Protecting is The Way

Patent Office of the Republic of Poland Poster Competition Dissemination of the knowledge and increasing social awareness in the field of intellectual property protection and support for innovation is for the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland an issue of constant attention. Among the main responsibilities of the Patent Office is also popularization of the matters connected with intellectual property protection and undertaking various educational initiatives aimed at many different circles. The Patent Office of the Republic of Poland considers awareness-raising initiatives in the area of industrial property protection as key to making entrepreneurs realize the numerous advantages of investing in solutions that are novel, which is a prerequisite for economic growth and increasing competitiveness. The above factors make the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland a vital link in many activities undertaken to support innovative programmes. With such a purpose in view, the Patent Office initiates and organises events connected with international promotion of the heritage of Polish creators, such as, for example, an exhibition of Polish design in the seat of the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Poland to the United Nations Office in Geneva. An example of another initiative by the Patent Office is the organization of international conferences on IP related issues, such as a conference co-organized with the World Intellectual Property Organization entitled Industrial Design a National Brand. In addition, the Patent Office was the initiator of the Polish industrial design exhibition presented in the Exhibition Pavilion of the National Gallery of the Czech Republic in Prague. The Patent Office regularly cooperates with many Academies of Fine Arts in Poland which have industrial design faculties and with other institutions and organizations for the promotion of the Polish design in our country and abroad. The success of the educational mission conducted by the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland in the field of intellectual property awareness was possible thanks to the engagement of talented young people, whose enthusiasm and openness to new ideas is an indispensable factor in achieving success, especially in the areas where bravery and courage in realizing one s own ideas are indispensable. That is why every year the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland invites the young generation of artists to participate in a competition by preparing a poster on the theme of intellectual property rights protection. It should be noted that the success of a young artist is usually the result of hard didactic work of an experienced teacher. Artistic projects awarded by the Patent Office are widely used in its promotional publications that serve spreading knowledge on intellectual property. Awarded works and projects are only a small part of the bulk of works submitted for the competition. The growing number of participants shows that intellectual property is increasingly important. The Silesian Castle Perfekt The Silesian Castle is the first regional centre in Poland that promotes good design as the key to the development of Silesia and the companies and institutions operating there. The castle is a platform gathering designers, scientists and entrepreneurs, who can jointly create innovative products and services, competing at national and international markets. The Silesian Castle cultivates modern technologies and helps to implement them; it also supports fresh and novel design. Traditional and artistic craft workshops which take place there are an inspiration to the designers to creatively use bygone techniques and materials. The Michał Oźmin Institute Design for Everybody which operates in the castle propagates the principles which contribute to the improvement of public space and service quality. The Silesian Castle. We create possibilities! Perfekt designs the functional human life environment according to the principle: If I understand for whom the product is designed and how it is to be used, I will design it well. The elaborated shapes totally fulfil the users needs. Simultaneously each project is verified as to the components accessibility, convenience of maintenance, easiness of mounting and the safety of usage. Collaborating with the engineers of the Foundation of the Cardiac Surgery Development in Zabrze, Paulina Kordos designed a mobile motive unit of artificial heart ventricles. The unit that is totally made of carbon composites is 105 kg lighter than the controllers used till now. After unscrewing of the six screws a full maintenance access to every module and component of the apparatus is obtained. Due to the telemetric modules, for the first time in the history of the Polish Artificial Heart project, a patient may leave the clinical environment in order to wait for a new heart at home. The surgical mammal COMBO is built into the wheelchair which is a mobile ground for a laser or surgical diathermy. This innovative approach of the designers: Paulina Kordos and Dawid Żebrowski improved safety and work comfort of the surgeon. The Red Dot Design AWARD Academy rewarded the project with a title RedDot Winner 2011 in the medicine category. The driving base was made from recyclate obtained from polyester and polyurethane processing with the use of the latest technology. Polyester technology gives the opportunity to freely form the shape of the product. The material used is chemical resistant, smooth, colourful and UV-resistant. It is perfectly suitable to be applied in the medical environment. The Silesian Castle Zamek Cieszyn, ul. Zamkowa 3 a,b,c, 43-400 Cieszyn, Poland Perfekt Sobierajski ul. Otus Design Studio Modico Stamppoint Grzegorz Sowiński works both as a designer and an educator. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź and he is a lecturer there. For him, design is not only shape. It is much more: design means functionality, innovation, technology and most importantly the continuous challenging of prevailing solutions. Design is about creating a relationship between the human being and the surrounding world. The goal of his new design venture is to improve the environment that surrounds a human being by creating innovative products. He also strives to break the stereotypes connected with design, and to promote the vision of design as an interdisciplinary domain that reaches far beyond the mere stylisation of the product. Stairwalker a device that assists the movements of the knee joint, is a type of exoskeleton. It assists in walking and reduces the load on knee joints and legs. It employs pneumatic actuators to achieve the dynamics similar to that of human muscles. Stairwalker was designed to assist the user s movements during any work that involves a heavy load on the legs, as well as for rehabilitation, tourism and other applications. Design always comes first. This principle has guided Modico Stamppoint when it designed its first modico stamp, and it abides by it until today. Their goal was to create the finest stamps on the market. Modico Stamppoint believes that any functional or visual aspect cannot occur accidentally. Each detail, starting with the shape, colour, up to the housing lock or the make up of mechanical parts, was designed in multiple ways. Modico Stamppoint designs a product with no specified timeframe. The design process is considered complete only when a solution is reached that satisfies both the producer and the designer. The result of the work is a set of eleven office stamps, including pocket stamps, rectangular stamps and one round stamp. All the designs together form a stylistically coherent product line. Modico Stamppoint thinks about each design from the beginning, right from the foundations, without copying any existing models. In each design it seeks a vision of a form, a concept for the shape, which, as we believe, can be defined for any object it only has to be discovered. It was clear from the very beginning that modico R45 was going to be an egg. This form perfectly corresponds with its round print. Finding the right geometry and designing the details was then only a matter of pure pleasure. Designers: Matylda Golędzinowska, Bogal Małczyński Grzegorz Sowiński / Otus Design Studio ul.
