3) Guaranteed Ride Home One of the main obstacles to using an alternative mode of transportation for commuting is the fear of being stranded at work without transportation. What happens when your child is sick at school and you carpooled that day? Or your boss asks you to stay late to finish a project and the last bus leaves at 7 p.m. Guaranteed Ride Home is free taxi service for registered commuters when there is an emergency or unexpected overtime. To qualify for GRH, you must use an alternative mode of transportation, such as carpooling, vanpooling, biking, riding the bus, and/or walking at least twice a week. 1) You can register for Guaranteed Ride Home when you enter your travel profile. 2) If you have already registered in the travel database, but would now like to register for the Guaranteed Ride Home Program, you can: a. Go to Edit my Profile b. Click yes, when asked if you would like to register for GRH. 3) Once registered you ll be able to get a voucher for free taxi service when you need emergency transportation from work. This can be accessed in the Sun Rideshare Travel Database by going to Print a Guaranteed Ride Home Voucher
4) Travel Calendar - How to log trips for the Rewards Program The Travel Calendar has been enhanced, so that you can easily and quickly log in all your alternative mode trips for the Sun Rideshare Rewards program, which allows you to earn points towards great prizes when you bus, bike, walk, carpool, or vanpool. So how does it work? For the sake of example, let s say you regularly carpool to work Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. 1) Go to Travel Calendar Above: New Sun Rideshare Travel Calendar
2) First, set the distance you traveled in miles. The default distance will always be set as the distance from your home to your work location. You can change the default distance at any time. 3) Below the distance box there is a drop-down box. Choose a trip type: To Work, To Home, or One-Time Trip. For example, I chose To Work. 4) Next, click and drag the travel mode to the correct day. I chose carpool, so I clicked and dragged Carpool, to Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. 5) Do the same for your work trip home. For example I changed the trip type To Home, and clicked and dragged Carpool to Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
6) Since this is your regular commute, to save time create a template, which is a shortcut for recording regular trips. a. First give it a name e.g. Daily Commute: Mon-Wed b. Next set the miles. c. Select the trip type. d. Instead of clicking and dragging Carpool to a particular date on the travel calendar, click and drag Carpool, to the template box. E.g. I clicked and dragged To Work Carpool to the template box, and then clicked and dragged To Home Carpool to the template box. e. Click Save. f. You now can see your template titled Daily Commute: Mon-Wed in a yellow box at the top of the calendar. g. To log future daily commute trips you can click and drag the yellow box, Daily Commute: Mon-Wed, to the appropriate date. h. You can create as many templates as you d like.
7) Be sure to enter your one-time trips. These trips also earn points and count in the Rewards Program. For instance, you walked to a local restaurant for dinner. Enter that trip on your Travel Calendar. If you walked home from the restaurant that is another one time trip and earns one point, so be sure to log in that trip. 8) At the top of the page you can see your cost and environmental savings so far. All the alternative mode trips you ve ever recorded with Sun Rideshare are included. a. If you want more information click on the show details. b. You can keep track of your trips to make sure you qualify for the prize drawings in the Sun Rideshare Rewards Program. Above: Where to find Savings Information, at the top of the Travel Calendar Above: Detailed Savings Reports Page
5) Rewards Program Reminder and Match Alert Finally, be sure to sign-up for Rewards Program Reminder by going to the Rewards Program Reminder and Match Alert at the Travel Database Home Page. 1) You can get a daily or weekly reminder to enter your trip data in the Travel Calendar. 2) Select how you want to receive the reminder, how often and what time. a. When you get your reminder via text or email there will be a link to the Sun Rideshare Travel Database, so you can quickly log in your alternative mode trips. b. You can enter previous trips going back 60 days, but you cannot enter any future trips. 6) Questions? Contact Us 1) Call Sun Rideshare at 884-RIDE (7433) 2) Email sunrideshare@pagnet.org
