Alarm Installation and Demonstration The telecare (alarm) equipment can be purchased or rented from Herefordshire Careline and a comprehensive installation service is provided by our own operatives. The installation appointment includes a full demonstration of how to use the equipment and detailed instructions on what you can expect from the service. A small on-going charge is then made for the service, which also includes the cost of maintenance of the equipment. Various payment options are available including Direct Debit and we will not require payment at the time of installation, but will invoice you shortly after your appointment.
Careline Equipment Options Basic Lifeline Package Lifeline Vi - Offering the combination of simplicity with additional advanced features that enable the unit to be personalised for individual needs and circumstances. The Lifeline Vi includes a MyAmie pendant trigger with neck cord or wrist strap attachment. The MyAmie is a small and discreet pendant designed to provide more comfortable wearing options for the user. Operating on the 869MHz dedicated social alarm frequency, the MyAmie pendant enables the user to raise a call for help in their home or garden, within a 50m range of the Lifeline home unit, simply by pressing the large red button. Includes neck cord or wrist strap attachment Additional Sensors We can provide a wide range of additional sensors to help you maintain your independence and safety. They are linked to your alarm unit and when activated they place a call to the monitoring centre to alert us of the problem. 4
Fall Detector - 8,000 older people fall every day in the UK. Tunstall s fall detector can provide valuable peace of mind by automatically detecting a serious fall and raising an alert to the monitoring centre or designated carer. The ivitm intelligent pendant is a small, lightweight device and like other pendants, the ivi allows the wearer to press a help button to generate an alarm call when they need help from anywhere in their home, 24 hours a day. The ivi also provides an added layer of protection by automatically generating a call for assistance if a fall is detected and the wearer is unable to push the help button. The ivi has a range of wearing options, and is the only product of its kind to feature a not-worn alert, which will notify the monitoring centre if the ivi has not registered movement for a period of time (3, 5 or 7 days), suggesting that the user has not worn it. Pull Cord (radio) - To raise alerts in areas where personal triggers are unlikely to be worn e.g. positioned next to the bed. A wired version is also available. 5
Careline Minuet Watch - This has been developed to help encourage telecare users to wear their personal triggers throughout the day. By combining an alarm button with a high quality watch, users are more likely to wear it and as a result will be provided with additional protection as their ability to raise an alarm is increased. Smoke Detector (wireless) - Enhanced with new features such as auto low battery reporting, only one battery for ease of management and accreditation to the very latest standard for smoke detectors. Flood Detector - Provides an early warning of flood situations, such as taps being left on. Temperature Extremes Sensor - Monitors for low and high temperature extremes in addition to rate of rise of temperature. Helps minimise the risks associated with changes in temperature including the build-up of heat in a kitchen and the risk of sustained periods of cold weather. 6
Carbon Monoxide Detector (wireless) - Warns of dangerous CO levels which otherwise could go undetected, providing unrivalled levels of accuracy and reliability. Bed Occupancy Sensor - provides an early warning by alerting that the user has left their bed or chair and not returned within a pre-set time period, indicating a potential fall. The sensor can also be programmed to switch on lights, helping people find their way to and from bed easily. Bogus Caller Button - Fixed near the door, this button will provide reassurance in the event of an unexpected caller. Property Exit Sensor - As 40% of people with dementia are prone to walking about, this sensor specifically monitors for people leaving a building at unusual times of day or night. It can also detect if a main exit door has been left open and can be linked to external lighting to provide added protection. 7
Careline Heat Detector - The wireless heat detector provides additional protection against the risk of fires in rooms where smoke detectors are unsuitable e.g. kitchen. The detector is kite-marked to BS 5446 Part 2: 2003 and raises an alarm when the temperature reaches between 54 C and 62 C. Epilepsy Sensor - This sensor is placed underneath the mattress and monitors tonic-clonic seizures. Upon detection of such a situation, an alarm call will be raised to the monitoring centre or carer to ensure the appropriate action can be taken. Other sensors are available such as Natural Gas and LPG Detectors, Enuresis Sensors, and Medication Dispensers.
