Introduction FS400 is an all in one solution build on top of a QuesCom 400. It has 4 GSM ports for sending and receiving SMS. It can get either a 2 PRI card as well as 4 or 8 BRI cards embedded. They are going to be used to connect PBX either in passthrough or on a dedicated ISDN link. FS400 is preloaded with all necessary software for sending and receiving Fax and SMS per email. It has a capacity of 4 simultaneous fax for BRI configurations and 16 simultaneous fax for PRI configuration. - 3 -
1.1. Fax receiving Process The QuesCom appliance can intercepts an incoming call. If a calling fax machine carrier is detected, fax session is established to receive the fax in a file. Fax are transformed in PDF and e-mailed (SMTP) as an attachment to the recipient s address (this email address being associated to the phone number on which the fax arrived). The fax carrier detection adds 2-5 seconds delay in voice call treatment and routing. Destination Faxes can be received on: The One Number: Faxes and voice calls can be received on the same number AND at the same time. On dedicated fax DDI number The email received by the user can afterwards be checked, saved, deleted, and transferred to any email address. A copy of the received fax can be stored on the administrator email. - 4 -

Fax sending Introduction A copy of the sent fax can be: sent by email to the sender stored on the administrator email Sent faxes from Faxes can be sent using any email client, using T.37 addresses As mail The user can send a fax from any email client (like Microsoft Outlook) with: T.37 address in the To field The fax content in attachment needs to be in a PDF To format T.37 address can be: FAX=+334xxxxx@domain FAX=04xxxxx@domain +334xxxxx@fax.domain 04xxxxx@fax.domain FAX=+334xxxx@192.168.1.1 FAX=04xxxxx@192.168.1.1 Where a DNS server must resolve domain or fax.domain. To multiple recipients Send faxes to multiple recipients just by separating recipients T.35 address by ; in the TO field of the email. Acknowledgments Each successful send fax will generate an email to the sender with good delivery acknowledgment. - 5 -
1.3. SMS Sending As mail The user can send a SMS from any email client (like Microsoft Outlook) with: T.37 address in the To field The SMS text into the body of the email. To format T.37 address can be: SMS=+336xxxxx@domain SMS=06xxxxx@domain +336xxxxx@sms.domain 06xxxxx@sms.domain SMS=+336xxxxx@192.168.1.1 SMS=06xxxxx@192.168.1.1 Where domain or sms.domain must be resolved by a DNS server to the IP address of the QuesCom Gateway. Flash SMS support Flash SMS are displayed automatically to the mobile phone user. It pops up the message on the mobile phone screen as soon as arrived. Emails with the importance flag set to high will deliver Flash SMS. Acknowledgments Sender can select acknowledgment option into his email client software. He will then receive an email back with delivery notification to the mobile phone. 1.4. SMS receiving QuesCom GSM gateway can receive SMS messages. They are transferred into an e-mail. Each SIM card has its own e-mail address. As soon as an SMS arrives, it is transformed into an e-mail and sent to the user s mail box. - 6 -
1.5. Architecture in Pass-through on ISDN ISDN connection The Pass-through architecture is when the QuesCom appliance is connected between the PSTN and the PBX (by PRI or BRI lines). In case of QuesCom appliance failure, there is a bypass and calls continue to be placed and received to the PBX. Benefits No configuration required at PBX level. 1.6. Architecture on dedicated line on ISDN ISDN connection When the QuesCom appliance is connected only to the PBX, (by PRI or BRI lines) the architecture is named Dedicated. Benefits Allow to manage Fax on a single device even when have numerous ISDN connections. - 7 -
