Dear colleague I would like to introduce you to PharmaPlus, a leading support group which works for the benefit of independent pharmacies like yours. Established in the 1990s, we have access to over 35 key suppliers. What makes us different to other buying groups is we are backed up with a team of experienced pharmacists who are constantly on hand to support the professional needs of our 200+ members. Community pharmacy has had a tough time over the last few years and the NHS is undergoing its biggest upheaval for generations - our aim is to guide and support our members through this NHS maze. The pharmacy contract has failed in its delivery of promised services. Commissioning of pharmacy based services can be best described as patchy. Other factors such as Direct to Pharmacy (DtP) schemes, Category M claw backs, the Specials tariff and prescription pricing issues have all increased our administrative and financial burden and reduced the profitability of community pharmacy. This has all had an impact on the NHS landscape and substantial changes are required in the independent community pharmacy sector if we are to continue to compete in this challenging economic climate. I believe that failure to change will be disastrous to our profession and to our businesses. In order to survive and to continue to serve our patients, independent community pharmacies will require a higher degree of hands on support to compete effectively. This is where PharmaPlus can help in supporting, serving and standing up for your interests.
