These centres, which cover functions such as payroll administration, leave, claims and training administration, are expected to grow in Singapore. Industry Demand and Endorsement 3 The growing demand for HR practitioners is shown in the Ministry of Manpower s Job Vacancies Reports. ANNEX E SYNCHRONISED NITEC INTAKE Under the Synchronised Nitec intake (SNI), GCE N Level holders will continue to apply for Nitec courses in December following the release of GCE N Level examination results. The application results for Nitec courses will be released in the first week of January. Students will commence training for their Nitec courses in the second week of January and undergo two weeks of orientation. GCE O Level holders will apply for Nitec courses in the second week of January following the release of GCE O Level examination results. The application results for Nitec courses will be released in the third week of January. Students will commence training for their Nitec courses in the fourth week of January and undergo an orientation programme concurrently. The closing date of the January intake will be extended to the second week of February to allow for late application and appeal cases. Benefits of Synchronised Nitec Intake Training commences earlier GCE O Level holders start their Nitec training three months earlier - in January instead of April. They can therefore graduate and enter the job market earlier. More common activities can be organised With both GCE N and O Level holders following the same training semesters, ITE is able to take advantage of economies of scale and plan more activities for both groups of students. 17
