2 Profile of the Programme: Today, the field of interior design looks different than it has in the past; there is an increasing focus on the areas of ergonomic, elder, and sustainable design. Whether you are a high school student with a passion for making inside spaces both beautiful and functional or an experienced designer seeking to pursue licensure, The Cyprus Institute of Marketing (BVI) B.Sc Degree in Interior Design & Management will put you at the forefront of these trends combining the skills of Interior Design with managerial knowledge. Our hands-on interior design programme focuses on interdisciplinary, integrative practice and sustainable, socially responsible design along with giving you an international education. A multidisciplinary approach to the design education of the individual is promoted to establish an understanding of the human experience in the environment. The programme provides students with a comprehensive set of skills to prepare for a career in the interior design and grasp the management skills necessary in today s complex enviroment. The course provides a strong grounding in key conceptual and technical aspects of spatial design, develops creative thinking, self-expression and a capacity for independent learning. Aims The aims of this programme is to equip the student with a well balanced mix of skills and knowledge of the theory and practice of the art of interior design & management. Subjects include a balanced mixture of specialist subjects in design and management. The programme is organised with self-directed study. The programme is made up of a series of subjects that build into the comprehensive discipline of interior design at both a two and three dimensional activity. This is a combined Degree introducing the management science with the interior design student.

3 Programme Outline: Year I introduces creative thinking and generation of ideas. Subjects cover the areas of design concepts both at technical and aesthetic levels and architectural concepts to assist students to an understanding of space planning, appreciation of colours, materials and form in the management of the built environment. Basic subjects such as Business Organisation and Marketing complement students knowledge of the programme. Year II prepares students to embrace a range of interior design models and assist them in evaluating and managing the environment of homes and interior spaces. The subjects of Consumer behaviour, Financial & Mgt. Accounting and Computers contribute to a special coverage of the programme. Year III provides space for creativity and individual work and gives an outline of contemporary issues in spatial design. A personal project needs to be prepared of at least 7,000 words to include all knowledge and skills acquired by the student during his/her studies and demonstrate his/her grasp of the subject. Original work must definitely characterize the project. The subjects of International Marketing, Executive Skills and Public Relations fulfill the necessary requirements essential to this programme.

Graduate Project on Interior Design On successful completion of Year 1, the Diploma in Interior Design & Management (DIDEM) is awarded. On successful completion of Year 2, the Advanced Diploma in Interior Design & Management (ADIDEM) is awarded. Finally, upon successful completion of Year 3, the Bachelor in Interior Design & Management (BIDEM) is awarded. Assessment: The Interior Design subjects are evaluated by individual assignments. Management subjects are evaluated with end of the year examinations. At the end of the three years, students must be able to demonstrate to the examiners their personal portfolio and exhibit their work at the Final show. Entry Requirements: A Secondary School Leaving certificate with average grade 14/20 or 70%. An English language Test such as ELTS 6/10 or TOEFL 500. Fees Registration fees for Overseas Centers are indicated on the Registration form OSAR 80 and examination fees are indicated on the Examination Entry form EEF 79. For Distance Learning students fees are indicated in the Official Letter of Admission.

5 Career Prospects An interior designer analyzes needs, integrates findings with knowledge of interior design, formulates design concepts, develops and presents design recommendations, prepares working drawings, collaborates with other practitioners, prepares and administers contract documents and evaluates design solutions. Therefore what one does within the field of interior design depends on his /her area of interest and design specialty.one may be employed by an interior design or architectural firm, a retail store, or a design division of a corporation or institution. One may decide to be self-employed and work out of his/her own studio. Access to Further Studies Graduates of the programme can be accepted onto any of the CIM(BVI) MBA Programmes Date of Commencement Students can apply for admission and start their studies anytime throughout the year. Examination Dates Exams are held at approved Overseas Examination Centres EVERY JUNE and JANUARY. Students are NOT allowed to sit for the exams before the lapse of 6 months from the date of registration into the programme. Students wishing to enter for the examinations MUST complete an examination entry form and send it to the Institute at least TWO MONTHS prior to the examination dates are accompanied with the appropriate examination fees.
