CISCO IP PHONE SPA500G SERIES PHONE OVERVIEW Part of the Csco Small Busness Pro Seres, the SIP based Csco SPA504G 4-Lne IP Phone wth 2-Port Swtch has been tested to ensure comprehensve nteroperablty wth equpment from voce over IP (VoIP) nfrastructure leaders, enablng servce provders to quckly roll out compettve, feature-rch servces to ther customers. The Csco SPA504G IP phone also supports productvty-enhancng features such as VoceVew Express and Csco XML applcatons when used wth Csco Unfed Communcatons 500 Seres n SPCP mode CISCO SPA509G The photo left shows the Csco SPA509G. DESCRIPTION FUNCTION 1 Handset Pck up to place or answer a call. 2 Message Watng Indcator Dsplays sold red when you have a new vocemal message. Flashes red durng an ncomng call or when the phone s frmware s beng updated. (Behavor may dffer dependng on phone system.) 3 LCD Screen Dsplays date and tme, phone staton name, lne extensons, and softkey optons. (Not avalable on the Csco SPA501G.) 4 Lne keys Indcates phone lne status. (Not avalable on the Csco SPA502G.) These keys can also be programmed by your phone system admnstrator to perform functons such as speed dal, call pckup, or montorng an extenson. Lne colors depend on the type of phone system to whch your phone s connected. (SIP or SPCP). 5 Softkey buttons Press a softkey button to perform the acton shown on the label on the LCD screen above. Note: The Csco SPA501G has the followng four buttons: Redal Dals the last number called. Cancel Cancels an acton (such as a transfer). Conference Whle on a call, press to start a conference call and dal another number. After the second party answers, press Conference agan to create the conference. CISCO SPA500G SERIES PHONE OVERVIEW (CONT.) DESCRIPTION FUNCTION 6 Navgaton button Press an arrow to scroll left, rght, up, or down through tems shown on the LCD screen. (Not avalable on the Csco SPA501G.) 7 Messages button Press to access voce mal (must be set up by your phone system admnstrator). 8 Hold button Press to place a call on hold. 9 Setup button Press to access a menu to confgure features and preferences (such as your drectory and speed dals), access your call hstory, and set up functons (such as call forwardng). For the Csco SPA501G, accesses the Interactve Voce Response menu, whch allows you to perform tasks lke gettng the IP address of the phone. 10 Mute Button Press to mute or unmute the phone. When phone s muted, the button glows red. A flashng mute button ndcates the network connecton cannot be found. 11 Volume button Press + to ncrease the volume and - to lower the volume of the handset, headset, speaker (when the handset s off the phone, or rnger volume (when the handset s on the phone). 12 Headset button Push to turn the headset on or off. When the headset s on, the button glows green. 13 Speaker button Push to turn the speaker on or off. When the speaker s on, the button glows green. 14 Keypad Use to dal phone numbers, enter letters, and choose menu tems. CONNECTING YOUR PHONE Your system admnstrator wll lkely connect your new Csco IP Phone to the corporate IP telephony network. CONNECTING YOUR PHONE (CONT.) INSTRUCTIONS 1 Turn the phone body over to expose the ports on the back of the unt. CAUTION! Do not nsert a telephone lne cord nto the auxlary port. 2 Insert the long end of the phone cord nto the handset port on the phone body that s marked wth a phone symbol. 3 Optonal Route the phone cord through the cable slot. 4 Insert the other end of the phone cord nto the port at the bottom of the handset (not shown). 5 Optonal Connect the phone stand by lnng up the tabs on the stand wth the slots on the phone body. Slde the bottom tabs nto the lower slots on the phone body and lghtly press down on the stand. It should easly slde nto the upper stand slots. Do not force. 6 If you are usng an external power source, nsert one end of the power cord nto an outlet and nsert the other end of the power cord nto the power port on the phone body. 7 Connect your phone to the network: Usng an Ethernet Connecton Insert one end of the Ethernet cable nto the network port on the phone body marked SW. Insert the other end of the Ethernet cable nto the approprate devce, such as a network swtch, on your network. Usng a Wreless Connecton You can use a Csco WBP54G Wreless-G Brdge wth the IP phone to create a wreless connecton between the phone and the network. See the WBP54G documentaton on Csco.com for more nformaton. 8 Optonal To provde network access to a PC, connect one end of an addtonal Ethernet cable (not provded) to the PC port on the back of the phone body. Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to the network port on your PC. 9 Optonal To nstall the phone on a vertcal surface, use the Csco MB100 Wall Mount bracket. SOFTKEY BUTTONS The softkey buttons and labels on your phone dsplay vary dependng on your phone model and the phone system setup. (Softkey buttons are not avalable on the Csco SPA501G.) Press the rght arrow on the navgaton button to vew addtonal softkey buttons. BUTTON FUNCTION << or >> Move left or rght through an entry wthout deletng characters. add Add an entry. bxfer Performs a blnd call transfer (transferrng a call wthout speakng to the party to whom you are transferrng the call.) cancel Cancels any changes you have made (press before ok or save). cfwd/cfwdall Forwards all calls comng to your phone to a specfed number. clear Clears the call hstory. conf/confrn Intates a conference call. conflx Conferences actve lnes on the phone together. delchr Deletes the last number or letter. delete Deletes an entre tem (for example, a number from the Call Hstory lst). dal Dals a number. dr Provdes access to phone drectores. dnd/dnd Do Not Dsturb; prevents ncomng calls from rngng your phone. -dnd Clears Do Not Dsturb. Shows the Mssed Calls lst. Dsplays other softkey buttons that are avalable. Press to start a new call. Press ths button to dsplay optons. To choose the dsplayed opton, press OK. Puts a call on hold at a desgnated park number. The call s parked on the lne untl you unpark t or the caller dsconnects. Must be confgured by your phone system admnstrator. Allows you to answer a call rngng on another extenson by enterng the extenson number. Dsplays a lst of recently daled numbers. Resumes a call that s on hold. Saves your changes. Selects the hghlghted tem on the LCD screen. Resumes a parked call. Performs a call transfer. Transfers an actve lne on the phone to a called number. Enters a submenu and when pressed, toggles between Yes or No to enable or dsable an opton. USING YOUR IP PHONE IF YOU WANT TO... Place or Answer Calls Put a Call on Hold End a Call Adjust Volume Mute THEN... To place or answer a call, you can pck up the handset, press the Speaker or Headset button, or press a lne button (on some phones). To put a call on hold, press the Hold button. The caller hears a seres of three rapd beeps or musc whle on hold. To resume the call, press the flashng red lne button for the call. For the Csco SPA502G, press the resume softkey. If you are usng the handset, hang up or press the End Call softkey (on some phones). If you are usng the speakerphone, press the Speaker button. If you are usng the headset, ether press the Headset button (wred) or replace the handset (wreless). To adjust the volume of the handset or speaker, lft the handset or press the speaker button. Press + on the Volume button to ncrease the volume, or press- to decrease the volume. Press Save. To adjust the rnger volume, press the Volume button when the handset s on the phone and the speaker button s off. Press Save. To mute the phone mcrophone, speaker, or headset mcrophone, press the Mute button on the phone. The button glows red. Press the Mute button agan to unmute.
